A mimic since a young age with some brief experience acting on stage. Between the mid 1990s and 2000s Simon lived in London spending countless hours recording, often through the night, to tape, before handing in the keys to the studio to work in social housing. Simon now lives in South East Queensland with his Australian wife and children but has never stopped playing around with audio, trying out far too many recorders and interfaces and satisfying his then undiagnosed ADHD by trying out various unrelated career paths. After substituting for the regular voice on an internet ad and winning microphones on a couple of podcast competitions, he has come full circle recording and doing a little audio restoration while working as a disability support worker.
I’d like to do bit parts or comedic, over the top or theatrical characters; Clifton James’ brilliant performances as Sheriff J.W. Pepper in Live & Let Die, and again in The Man With The Golden gun, Jackie Mason’s performance as Buford T Justice in the Smokey and the Bandit movies, and my favourite Sheriff, Alan Rickman’s take on a wonderfully acerbic Sheriff Of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves are the vibe I like.
it’s not all about lawmen though, the stoned crazy of Ralph Brown as Danny The Dealer in Withnail & I is at the other end of the spectrum and gruff antiheroes too, like Hugh Laurie as Dr Gregory House (with a very believable American accent) and insert many a Jason Statham role here, (where he keeps his London accent).
