Matthew Chang

I learned the basics and fundamentals of acting for video games including character breaths, strikes, hits, taking damage, death noises, etc., and how to interpret character script and art when creating a voice and persona for a character.

I learned the fundamentals of embodying a character in script and how to discover what motivates the character's actions and words, and also how their relationships with the other characters and environment influence them.

I am currently in a character acting program taught by Eliza Jane Schneider where I am learning the process of understanding and mastering dialects and accents, and also performing significant character work and building my own archetypes.  I am also exploring how to navigate the world and business of voiceover.

I am currently going through the V.O. Dojo and learning the entire world of voiceover including acting, networking, building up the business, and exploring and mastering all genres of voiceover including commercials, narration, video games, animation, etc.

I learned even more in-depth character analysis and how to create unique personas, voices, and accents for characters based solely on a script with no art or solely based on character art.

I learned how to approach both animation and video game copy and how they differ in tone, pacing, and intent.  Significant work and practice was geared towards determining my own unique character archetypes and how to expand my vocal range.
