Your Turn to Die - Death Game By Majority - (Manga Adaptation)

Hello! We are a brand new comic dubbing studio excited to announce a fandub of the Your Turn to Die manga! Unlike our previous dubbing projects, we plan to 100% focus on dubbing over manga and comics in this group. As of 2023, the manga has ended at chapter 37 (around the very beginning of Chapter 2, Part 1 in the original game).
Currently, we have the entire script for Volume 1 written up and ready to go! This casting call includes characters that make an appearance in the first volume, so characters that show up later on will be casted as we get closer to the volume the debut in. Most side characters / extras will not be casted specifically, instead they will be on a volunteer basis for people in the project. However, there are some side characters that need specific or unique voices that will be casted here!

ExpectationsClear mics with little background noise (noise that can be edited out is fine)
Ability to express extreme emotion, such as crying, screaming, etc.
Ability to submit files in either .mp3 or .wav
Ability to communicate and meet deadlines (~3 weeks will be given at minimum for lines, extensions will be given if needed)
We would most prefer to work with those 18+, but we will consider anyone 16+ (as the manga itself is rated this way)
Do not slate, please provide your age (at least if you are 18+/18-), discord, and anything else you would like us to know in the description of your audition
At least 2 takes minimum in AABBCC format, but no more than 5 takes on a single line
At the end of the listed lines, feel free to add extra lines to showcase your voice more if you would like!

[Protagonist]
Sara is the protagonist / player character in the game and a second-year in high school. In the original game, she is often described as strong, dependable, and confident. However, in the manga, while her core traits of leadership and dependability remain, the story has more room to explore her internal thoughts and emotions in detail. The manga delves deeper into her vulnerabilities, fears, and self-reflection.
We’re mostly looking for a medium ranged female voice that is able to express various intense emotions. Sara cries a lot in the manga, especially within the first few chapters of volume one. Keep in mind Sara often switches between being a confident leader to your average teenage girl.

Joe plays a significant role during his time in the manga. He is also a second-year high school student and is one of Sara’s closest friends. Known for his upbeat, kind-hearted nature, Joe is exceptionally loyal to the people he cares for most. However, he can shift to a more serious demeanor when the situation calls for it.
We’re seeking a light-hearted, medium-ranged male voice that embodies Joe’s personality. The ideal candidate should be able to convey his cheerful and upbeat nature while also transitioning smoothly into a more serious tone when needed.

Sue Miley, also known as Hoemi, is the “Laughing Doll” floor master of the first and second floors. Miley is bloodthirsty and sadistic, even taking extreme pleasure in seeing the participants suffer. She is also known to mock those who lose loved ones during the game.
We are looking for a medium to possibly medium-low female voice that can capture Sue Miley’s sadistic side and role as a floor master. Miley’s voice should convey a mix of playfulness and malice, capturing her unsettling charisma. Lines should be delivered with a sense of theatricality, emphasizing her manipulative and unpredictable personality.

Keiji is a former police detective, mostly presenting himself with a laid-back attitude. While his actions are mostly to benefit himself, he becomes a guide for Sara, and encourages her in leading the group. He eventually becomes reliant on Sara’s decisions, even putting too much responsibility on her at times.
We are looking for a medium-low ranged male voice that can reflect his calm and charismatic nature. His voice should have a somewhat smooth charm, making him approachable and reassuring, while also carrying subtle hints of guardedness to suggest the deeper layers of his character.

[Main Character]
Kai has trouble communicating with others, often hiding his emotions behind a calm personality and his frying pan. He does try to connect with others, but lacks charisma. His sense of humor is morbid and does not amuse others, who often have trouble determining if he’s serious. Kai lies to others often and never gains the trust of the other participants. However, deep down he has a lack of self-esteem and a care for others.
We are looking for a medium-low or medium ranged voice. His tone is subtle, intelligent, and somewhat cold. There should be a measured, almost calculated rhythm to his speech, as if he carefully chooses every word he says.

Sou is a “job-hopper” with bad posture and a negative outlook. He is generally distrustful, intelligent, and suspicious. Oftentimes, he doubts Sara due to her charisma and ability to gain the group’s trust. Eventually, he comes to trust Kanna, even treating each other as siblings.
We’re looking for a medium ranged male voice that is able to portray his cunning personality. His tone should be adaptable, switching from disarming and friendly to cold and scheming. In more emotional moments, his voice should carry a raw, almost desperate quality, revealing cracks in his composed facade.

Kanna is a second-year in middle school who was brought into the games with her sister. She often refers to herself in third person and speaks in a childlike manner. Kanna is dependent on characters like Sara and Sou due to her lack of confidence.
We are looking for a soft high ranged voice that reflects her timid nature. Her voice should contain her emotional vulnerability and anxiety. There are some moments where she is able to shine through with resilience, but for a majority of the story she remains shy and anxious.

Nao is an art college student who was a former student of Mishima. She is generally kind-hearted and is not afraid to make sacrifices for the greater good. Nao does come to a period of self-doubt and despair after witnessing Mishina’s death. However, she is able to overcome this and gain back her gentle strength.
We’re looking for a medium ranged voice with a gentle tone that can also express her moments of self-doubt and grief. In the moments that Nao expressed intense emotions, her more gentle tone of speaking should fade away.

[Main Character]
Mishima is a very odd high school teacher. He is good-natured and often contrasts his outward appearance. He takes pride in being Nao’s former teacher and shows passion for the other participants during his time in the manga. However, he is willing to lie to others if he believes it benefits their own good or well-being.
We do not have a specific range in mind, but we would like his voice to be on the eccentric side (almost like a mad scientist). However, there should also be a kindness within his voice, highlighting his urge to help and entertain others.

Alice, also known as Gonbee Yamada, is Reko’s sibling and does not appear at the beginning like the rest of the participants. When he does show up, he has little trust for the other participants. Oftentimes he pushes others away, goes off on his own, and shows aggression when he speaks.
We are not looking for a particular voice range for this character. However, Alice’s voice should portray his aggressive and fiery nature. In some moments, his tone should change to hint at his vulnerability behind his bold exterior.
