[Youtube] Fairy Tale: King Thrushbeard
Project Overview
Intro
Hi everyone. I own a small YouTube channel where I make fairy tale videos using Sylvanian Families dolls.
https://www.youtube.com/@OnceUponaSylvanian/videos
This time, I'm making a video adaptation of 'King Thrushbeard'. It's originally written by the Brothers Grimm and has been adapted by me to suit the modern audience.
The storyIt is about a haughty princess who ridicules people, including her 'fiance' (King Thrushbeard) by saying his beard looks like a bird's beak. She says she'd rather marry a poor man (the minstrel) than apologize to him, so her parents go along with it, hoping it will humble her proud spirit. The princess lives with the minstrel and gradually changes for the better.
Spoiler: The minstrel is actually King Thrushbeard in disguise!
Project detailsRetakes are appreciated.
Multiple takes for variety are appreciated.
Delivery within 7 days is appreciated, but I’m happy to be flexible if you need more time.
All chosen voice actors will be credited in my video.
It will take me around 2-3 weeks to complete and upload the video on Youtube.
I'm looking forward to hearing your auditions!
If you don’t get chosen, please don’t be discouraged! I have other videos I want to make in the future!

Dignified, loving mother but she seems to scold her daughter a lot.
- female senior
- female adult
(neutral, dignified) Fiona, these people are here to congratulate you on your engagement to King James.
(Scolding) Fiona, that was very rude! I demand you to apologize to them right now!
We are doomed. Our royal lineage will end with our daughter!
Minor roles but highly important!
Extra voices that include the Pastor, customers, and party guests.
(Male VA, with solemn authority.) Pastor: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
(Male & Female VAs) *laughing mockingly* Isn't that Princess Fiona? Serves her right, for being a rude, haughty princess!
(neutral) Excuse me, how much is this earthenware?
Proud, haughty and a little vain.
Voice direction: Sassy, sharp tone.
Here are some of the princess' insults to her party guests so you can get a jist of her:
Princess: Hm. A Wine Barrel.
Flora Rabbit: Excuse me?
Princess: Your chubbiness reminds me of one.
Princess: And you. Tall and thin… like a candlestick.
Meerkat: What?!
Princess: (turns to another) So pale… as pale as death.
Snow Rabbit: *gasps*
And you, with a face so yellow, like a walking banana!
Labrador:
(The main reason why I am not uploading to Youtube Kids)
- female young adult
(The Princess looks in the mirror and narrates the story) Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful princess, (She turns around to face the camera. Spoken with glamorous flair) and that was me!
Haha, Hahahaha! He has a chin like a thrush’s beak! *laughs* It’s King Thrushbeard! Hahahahaha! Hahaha (Laughs hysterically)
(Self-reflective and regretful tone) I used to make fun of people for all sorts of reasons… What does that make me?
**The Minstrel is King Thrushbeard in disguise.
He is upstanding, righteous and humble.
The Minstrel can be a little teasing at times.
"Frankly, I don’t care for your attitude. But I am a minstrel, living a humble and honest life. I don’t see why you’d think otherwise." - Minstrel
Voice for King Thrushbeard and Minstrel doesn't have to be overly distinctive, but I imagine King Thrushbeard having a deeper, commanding voice than the minstrel.
You'll spend more time being the Minstrel than King Thrushbeard.
Youtube link for minstrel's singing:
(This is the only singing you'll be doing, and you don't have to be a professional singer. All you have to do is be able to hit the notes.)
- male young adult
Minstrel: (teasing) I understand, Princess. You thought I was too handsome and wanted to marry me.
(Please refer to Youtube link) Minstrel: *singing* The princess had the chance to change her fate. But everyone knows, now it's too late.
King Thrushbeard: (sincere) and neither am I worthy to be your husband. I deceived you… and for that, I am truly sorry.
Calm temperament, never raises his voice.
He is Princess Fiona's father.
*Not to be confused with King Thrushbeard.
- male senior
- male adult
(calmly) Fiona, I think what your mother is trying to say is, you ought to apologize to King Thrushbeard - (Gets corrected) King James… so the engagement may proceed as planned.
(amused, enthusiastically) And as if on cue, here comes the poor man!
(exhausted) Do the deed, pastor. Put us all out of our misery.
