Yearning The Crown

Premise

 It’s been 13 years since the final defeat of Lord Tirek, Queen Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow, and Equestria has experienced its first decade of peace in years. Flurry Heart has spent her life preparing to take on the responsibility and privilege of one day taking her parents place as the ruler of the Crystal Empire. All of that is thrown into uncertainty with the news of a new royal child- and rival for Flurry Heart’s destiny.

Introduction

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to announce that I’m holding a casting call for my audio drama, Yearning The Crown! This has been in the works for many years, and I’m so excited to announce that I am ready to start getting a cast together! The team and I are so excited to meet you guys, and to get this project started, and for it to come to life! Keep in mind, this is a casting call only for episode 1 & 2; there will be many other casting calls to come!

Rules For Everyone 

• This is a 15+ project, as this audio drama will deal with darker and more mature subjects!

• If you are under 18, you MUST have a parent/guardian's permission to be part of this audio drama. (Please, it isn’t fair to me or the crew if you have to drop out due to being underage) 

• You must have Discord, as this is the mode of communication I use for my team

Any other form of submitting an audition will not be accepted! 

• Please label your email title YTC and what you intend on auditioning for, 

For example: YTC VA Audition, YTC Art Audition, YTC VA & Art Audition, YTC Singing Audition ect. 

• PLEASE send all auditions in ONE email, do NOT send multiple emails

• The deadline for all auditions is May 15th 2026 11:59pm PST After that date and time has passed, we will no longer accept auditions. Successful applicants will hear back from the Yearning The Crown team by May th, if you were not selected in this round, we will be having future auditions and you are welcome to try again.

• Have Fun! This is a passion project and we want you to enjoy this process. Letting loose with your auditions will tell us more about you and help you get off to a good start!

VA Rules

• Your Audition files MUST be mp3 or WAV format, any other format will not be accepted! YouTube and video auditions will also not be accepted.

• You don’t need to have a professional microphone to be considered, but please minimize any potential background noise, and ensure that you do not peak your mic

• Impression accuracy is encouraged, but not essential to you being cast. We are looking for voice actors who can embody the characters above all else.

• You can audition for as many characters as you want, but if you do so please send them in separate files. Meaning one file per character you audition for. 

• When performing your lines, DO NOT IMPROVISE

• Do not introduce yourself in the beginning of your recording, if you did everything right, I should not need that information.

• Please leave at least 3 seconds of silence before the start of  your audition, so we can determine your baseline noise levels.

• DO NOT EDIT YOUR AUDIO in any way or form beyond trimming your takes down, even noise reduction, we want your raw audio!

• Please do at least 3 takes of each line, but no more than 5. We need to hear range of interpretations. If you have bloopers, trim them or send them separately, but do not keep them in.
  
  

• Send singing auditions in separate files from your spoken voice acting auditions
  
  
  

• Sung auditions can be acapella, but we would like to encourage you to use an instrumental track. If you aren’t comfortable mixing, that’s okay. • When you are labeling your files, please follow this format:

Artist Rules

• Both digital and traditional art will be considered. However, all traditional art must be scanned or photographed in a way that minimizes loss of quality

• Send 3-5 samples of your recent art, preferably something that’s less than 6 months old

• The majority of what you send MUST be pony art, but if you send art that isn’t, make sure it displays aspects of your work unique to the art with ponies (backgrounds, lighting or coloring styles, composition, etc.) that would still be relevant to skills we need to see from you.

• Base art is not acceptable, we want what makes you special!

• If you are able/willing to do animatics for this, please state so in your email, and send examples! 

• Please state if you are comfortable drawing backgrounds. Ideally we’d like it if you can, but we can consider creating communal assets or teaming up artists with background specialists. Please state, also, if you might be comfortable being a background artist who can create said assets or assist other artists.
