From the creators of Eden and Flippers comes the next original project from Dead of Night Productions: Wings of Tycho.
In 1556, humanity achieved the impossible. Powered flight arrived centuries ahead of our history, launching an age of innovation and exploration that carried civilization from the skies to the stars. By the dawn of the twentieth century, the first permanent colony had been established on the Moon. Isolated from Earth's rapid technological progress, the lunar city of Tycho perfected the mechanical craftsmanship it was built upon, becoming a world of brass, steam, and industry. Now, in the year 2026, while Earth shines as a beacon of unimaginable advancement, the Moon endures as a society where travel to the home planet is reserved for only a privileged few. For Arnold Wrench, a young mechanic who spends his days repairing ships he'll never be allowed to board, Earth is more than the world hanging overhead. It is the dream that will change his life forever.
This is a project that will start as an audio drama, but with enough support we hope to make it into an animated feature (with further compensation).

There will be NO gen-AI in this project!

Voice Actor
The Narrator of Wings of Tycho should sound wise, weathered, and proud of the story they are telling. I want someone with a deep voice, but it can vary based on who auditions!
Tycho is pronounced Tie-Coh
In the colony of Tycho aimlessly sits our young mechanic, Arnold Wrench. Arnold is an apprentice mechanic, a highly renowned one at that. However, he dreams of something bigger. He looks upon the brass hangars of Selune, a premium destination for Tycho’s elite to come and go from Earth. He sees his handiwork branded across countless ships throughout the hangar, but he can never board them. Tycho citizens are barred from visiting Earth unless they require a specific permit; one that is a long shot for any normal person to get. But Arnold isn’t normal, and he knows it.

Caleb Socket is also an apprentice mechanic, but he became one due to his sheer strength and know-how of the inner workings of machines. Not much of a designer, he just wants to build big and strong machines that work as intended. He’s also Arnold’s self-proclaimed best friend. Eventually the two bonded over their love of spacecraft, and he joins Arnold on his journey to reach Earth.

(Excited) I didn’t WANT to get started without you. Best buds need to work together, you know!
(Unsure) Forests? Dude, you’ve never even seen a tree. How would you know that you’re in a forest?

Naomi River is a former child prodigy turned scavenger following the deaths of her parents. Forced to fend for herself, Naomi swears her parents died looking for a way to Earth, and will do anything to reveal the truth. She meets Arnold when she steals from Leopold’s workshop, and joins Arnold’s crew once it’s revealed that she has her own workshop hidden away from the IASA. She’s a rebel through and through, and her passion for spacecraft ignites a special friendship with Arnold and eventually Caleb.

(Confident) You ask a lot of questions. Well, for starters my name is Naomi River. I’m sorry about stealing your tools. As you can tell, things are desperate in my workshop. As for what I am, I’m a pilot.
(EXCITED) What of it… what do you mean?! This is the tailfin of the Wings of Tycho! The most legendary ship to ever be made on this rock!
(Downtrodden) My friends… they’re all gone. If you want to apologize, save it. I’ve heard it all before.

Leopold Wills is a veteran mechanic with an esteemed workshop. Waitlists to join his apprenticeship are years long, and Arnold and Caleb were the most recent candidates to be selected. Leopold is a stern master, but he cares deeply about the two boys as he sees himself in every apprentice he trains. However, he’s harder on Arnold due to his dreams of reaching Earth, something his first apprentice died trying to achieve.
(Scolding) Very funny. If you were half the hard worker Caleb is, you’d own this shop already.
(Sad) You remind me a lot of your father. He was the best mechanic on this blasted moon.
(Motivating) Arnold, listen to me. This is your chance to build something. Something great. If anyone can do this, it’s you.

Barbara Wrench is a widow, but a hard-working mother that doesn’t let that define her. She met Daniel while working at the same factory, so she knows her way around machines. She disapproves of Arnold’s dreams to reach Earth, but acquiesces once she sees the same fire in Arnold’s eyes that Daniel had.
(Caring) Sweetie, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know when you’d be home so I made some stew. I can heat some up if you-
(Proud) You know, your dad always said the same thing about his parents. You come from a great lineage of mechanics.
(Regretful) Arnold, please. I’m not strong enough to lose you. Not you. Anyone but you.

Apollo Wilson is the IASA’s golden child: a brilliant pilot prodigy who has consistently ranked at the top of their class in nearly every discipline. Charismatic, strong-willed, and fiercely competitive, Apollo has been groomed from a young age to become Tycho’s premier representative and a rising star within the IASA. They carry the weight of enormous expectations, believing that their success is a reflection of everyone who’s stood by them. Beneath their confident exterior is a young pilot terrified of failure, willing to bend the rules and sacrifice their own morality to maintain their perfect record.

(Reminiscing) Oh, since I was very young. I’ve been training for the Junior Lunar Initiative my whole life.
(Confident) Yes, and I plan to win it. Earth is a wonderful place, and I’d love to be able to visit it anytime I wish.
(Disgusted) I’m not a fan of that town, the rabble in it, and the scrap everywhere. Glad I was able to get out of there quickly.

Colin Woodfield is the longtime head of the IASA, a position he has held for over thirty years after inheriting his place within the organization. Born into wealth and privilege, Colin has never experienced the hardships of the average mechanic or Moonborn citizen, yet he carries himself as though he is an expert in engineering, piloting, and leadership. He created the Junior Lunar Initiative under the guise of discovering Tycho’s next generation of talent, but his true goal is to secure Apollo Wilson a legal path to Earth without drawing attention to the usual restrictions.
(PROFESSIONAL) Let me call you right back. Apollo! How’s my favorite pilot?
(Demanding) I don’t keep tabs on the common workshops. Just go back there in a week, and if they don’t have the engine, shut them down.
