Us and You
Project Overview
While Alisha prepares for her date, her alters attempt to dissuade her for the little's sake, but she must stay determined for the future despite memories of the past. It is about a woman with Dissociative Identity Disorder, one step away from finding love. She and the other alters encounter triggers that remind them of their abuse, and the very susceptible child alter must be calmed down to face the world together.

25, Female, They/Any, The Host alter. Desperate to prove to themself they’re worthy of love, Alisha prepares to go on a first date with her coworker, Yarah. They have been abused since they were an infant by their parents, and their views on love are a bit juvenile and probably a coping mechanism. But they still want to try. A nervous host and deeply empathetic, Alisha finds kindness in a situation that would lead others to frustration in their mind. Alisha is smitten with Yarah. She’s found a bit of her own voice and tries to stand tall behind it, at least today. Host is a role that any alter or even multiple alters can have. They take care of the day-to-day: working, socializing, and living for the most part, but they want to thrive after their diagnosis. (7 scenes, 20 Lines, Lead)

We can’t be afraid to keep living. I need you to trust me to try and find sunny days and rainbows. I’ll even take a little unicorn with me.
Zion is the Protector and Tia is the Caretaker of the body, the mind, myself and especially Unique. The first alter created. The little, The main trauma-holder, the outcast.
Today is my first date after being diagnosed with Dissociative Identity disorder,
20, Male, He/Any, The protector alter. Zion is hot-headed, smooth, and a force to reckon with. In many ways, he is the voice of caution for the system. He’s rough around the edges. Zion was likely created second, due to Alisha’s want to fight back or her lack of confidence in her abilities. So he fronts in the body when Alisha encounters or is about to encounter something that will cause physical, emotional, or psychological pain. Zion is perhaps the most forceful of the alters, but also one of the most willing to keep them happy or do what he thinks is best for them. Sometimes, he even hates Alisha; she’s weak. He sees the world as a force to overcome, to win, to fight, not to back down from, and because of that, the world is quite dark and isolating. He’s okay with that, but will only trust Alisha to do it when she proves they can. (2 scenes, 6 lines)

We aren’t like everyone else. She’ll just reject us.
Cancel the date. You ain’t ready.
Fuck! Get down now!
50s, Female, they/she, The caregiving alter. Tia is the most functional, the alter who will make sure they are hydrated, eating, and performing at efficiency when at dangerous levels of poor body management. When inside the mind, she takes care of the Unique, but when fronting, she's focused on the body. When Tia was first created, she was modeled after a relative. Tia would front to make sure Alisha did her homework, cleaned her room, or sat up straight as a coping mechanism to try to stop the abuse and further trauma. Obviously, that didn't work. As Alisha grew, Tia became more stern and a bit less patient. Arguably single-minded when it comes to Alisha’s care, Tia serves to be like the blood, bringing oxygen to the heart, to keep them alive. She does what is in Alisha’s best interest even if Alisha disagrees. (2 scenes, 6 lines)

As long as you’re careful, fine. Please feed the baby, Alisha
I’m quite aware of our heart beat working overtime. And you’re dehydrated, dear.
You should be more worried about its impact at your job.
5, Female She/Her, the child alter, the little, the outcast, the main trauma-holder. She is also the main trauma holder and the outcast because of it. Alisha suffered unspeakable trauma at a very young age, and to escape into her mind, Unique was created. Unique is terrified of being hurt again, and she sees danger around every corner. She has an aversion to touch when she's fronting and admires the character from her favorite cartoon show, Unique the Unicorn. The unicorn has been instrumental in Unique and Alisha coping and being able to feel brave and scared as an adult in the world. (1 scene, 5 lines)

I-I don’t want to be hurt again.
Then Alisha,... can I be Co-conscious with you? To be brave.
She’ll hurt me just like they did! We can’t go. We don’t need anyone else.
26, Female, maybe trans or nonbinary, she/her. Confident, understanding, with a natural curiosity that drives her to deep empathy, Yarah is Alisha’s coworker and love interest. She has her things to move through as a woman from an immigrant family. Unapologetically queer and fearlessly open, Yarah loves to be fun, compliment, and help others. (2 scenes, 3 lines)
