Uncanny

Uncanny

Project Overview

Uncanny is a proof of concept for a 3D animated series that I am putting together.

This excerpt stars two characters, Thomas, a recovering drug addict, and Matthew, the man who hired him to care for his disabled brother. It's a 3 page proof of concept that I will be putting together with 3D animation, with the hopes of it being a full series later down the road. Together, they deal with supernatural threats that come to their door in the strange town of Uncanny Valley.

Thomas is a stoic type with some grit to him. After a life in foster care and then addiction to a strange new drug, he is just trying to get his life back on track. Voice should be a bit raspy, he should sound a bit older than he is.

  • Well...  Sometimes I... Sometimes I see my mother. Sometimes I can see her in my head... it’s like she’s trying to talk to me... but its not real.

  • (deep sigh) I am not one to tell another man how to live his life. All I ask is that you try to leave me out of it. I'm here to do a job, and I'm doing my best to make it work for you... I really need to make this work, Matthew.

Matthew is a very composed upper class man who respects manners above all else. He comes from money, dresses in a suit daily, and if you can pull off an english accent, that's a bonus. Despite his wealth and status, he is very friendly, almost too much so. He chooses each word carefully and always acts with certainty. Open to different voice interpretations, partial to an english accent if you can do it well, but would love to hear other approaches.

  • You haven’t seen anything sort of... move on its own?  Or perhaps strange noises from the other rooms?  Maybe doors leading where they shouldn’t... Things Johnathan says being more accurate than they should?

  • Thomas, it is okay to talk about those things here... Your eyes do not deceive you.  I have no reflection. And Johnathan can predict things.
