Transformers More Than Meets The Eye
Project Overview
Transformers More Than Meets The Eye is a comic book published by IDW and written by James Roberts. It focuses on characters such as Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Drift, Ratchet, Chromedome, Rewind, Swerve, and many more as they travel across the fast reaches of the universe in search of the Knights of Cybertron. As they travel the stars they meet new allies, foes, and make many adventures along the way.
This project is going to be an audio drama in which people can listen and read along to the comic book. I will incorporate sound effects and music into it in order to produce a cinematic audio experience and give the audience a full immersion of going through the story. As I continue through the series, I will add more characters when the time becomes appropriate. Keep in mind that this will be a long running project so if you don't think you will be able to be comitted then I would think twice about auditioning.
Requirements Before Auditioning:
1. Have a good quality microphone: no background noises, no clipping, pops, clicks, etc.
2. No filters in your auditions. These characters may be robots, but I want to see the ability of your acting first and foremost.
3. No imitations of any of the characters from previous incarnations whether it be from television, film, or the video games. I want you to do your own interpretations of the characters.

A maintenance engineer who gets around by doing his job each day. He’s a normal guy without any special abilities or skills unlike the rest of the crew and is very friendly to the others. A minor character that appears every so often.

You know why you can’t get a handle on me? Because I’m an ordinary person. I’m normal. I’m just a mid-ranking maintenance engineer who takes each day as it comes.
For the love of—look, if I tell you, do you promise to keep quiet for five minutes?
A Genericon who can combine with his partner Boom to form a piece of audio equipment. A thug who often goes after Autobots. A minor character that appears in a few issues starting at issue 4.

Really? All I see is a room full of the dead and the dying.
Oh well—I’ve started beating him up now, so I might as well get it out of my system.
Ex-Decepticon, now an Autobot. After being part of the Decepticon cause, his eyes were opened to what the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons had become when he stumbled across a forgotten city, where neutral citizens resided. Afterwards he changed his ways, traded his guns for swords, and became an Autobot. He's third-in-command on the Lost Light, is usually happy, and is a spiritualist. (One of the main characters.)

I want the Medibay buzzing with positive energy so our fallen comrades are guaranteed a speedy recovery! Drift out.
You know Ratchet, one day you'll say something nice to me... Just before you tell me I've got a terminal illness or something.
Oh, no... Is that... Is that Red Alert?
Cold, calculating, rule bound, and is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat the Decepticons and anything else he deems a threat, even if his actions damages his trust in others. (He appears in the first issue, flashbacks in later issues, as well as in the event Dark Cybertron.)

You know what your problem is, Chromedome? You think that just because the war is over we can afford to stop fighting!
No, this was always a possibility. I’ve already made the necessary modifications.
Someone had sent a message from the future to warn Rodimus about the dangers of their voyage, however no one knows who sent it in the first place. (Only present in the first issue.)

He tends to think highly of himself and is a good asset in the battlefield. Although he has guilt weighing on him after betraying the Autobots, he often tries to make things right. He travels around with his pet companion Bob. A minor character that appears in a few issues.

(Sarcastic) Well, it must’ve been bad if you were freaked out. I mean, what with you being so incredibly brave and everything.
I wouldn’t mind all the chatter, but half the time it’s dig, dig, dig, have a go at Sunstreaker.
Swerve, the day you die, your mouth will carry on. They’ll have to fire it into space to get some peace.
He was a part of Bombshell’s Insecticon swarms until he got lost amidst the chaos. He eventually came across Sunstreaker and has been his companion ever since. A minor character that appears in a couple of issues.

A theoretician. He's a super-learner who can acquire new skills and adapt to his environment very quickly. He recently woke up with amnesia and as a result has become a bit reckless in battle. While he tries to fill in the gaps, he spends time with Swerve and is more than capable of holding his own in a fight.

"Nineteen eighty-four! Nineteen eighty-four!” What’s the point of having a mouth if you only use it for one thing?
Congratulations! How does it feel to be used as bait?
Yeah, see, me and orders, we had a bit of a falling out. We’re not really on speaking terms. So when I’m told to wait in my room, well… I kinda have to do the opposite.
A sparkless drone who was created by Chief Justice Tyrest for one single purpose: to revoke any violations of the Tyrest Accord without hesitation. There are multiple drones, but I only need one actor for the role.

A big strong bot known for using his forcefields to get out of sticky situations, but he's considered to be a one trick pony by some because of this and has low self esteem, no doubt due to his drinking problem. However, he does retain a positive attitude and is very friendly among his fellow crewmates. Appears in issue 3 and onwards. A supporting character.

Meaning, no one ever recognizes me as a person in my own right. I’m just forcefield guy.

A scientist and the smartest bot onboard the Lost Light. He's known for having vast amounts of knowledge and puts it to good use which has helped out the crew on a few occasions. However, he also confuses and annoys the others whenever he uses a lot of scientific terminology. Appears in issue 3 and onwards. A supporting character.

The “bottom line”—and I feel I’ve cheapened my profession by resorting to that phrase—is that we can’t make a backup.
A dangerous and monstrous creature that can track down their prey's spark energy, immobilize, and kill their target without making physical contact. Appears in issue 3.

A small bot with a kind heart. Though not the fighting type, he’s willing to set foot on other planets and explore new worlds with his friends. A minor character that shows up every so often. His first appearance is in issue 4.

(Excited) Alright, I’ll tell you: this is my first proper alien planet. It’s true! I’ve spent my whole life on Cybertron or on space stations. That’s why I joined the Lost Light: so me and the universe could get up close and personal.
(Nervous) What about "Definitely not?" Is "Definitely not" in there? 'Cos that's my favorite.
Okay, fine. Just checking. Just having the old checkity-check.
A bounty hunter who will do whatever it takes to capture his bounty and receive some cold hard cash. He’s all about business, is straight to the point when on the job and is not afraid to tell his colleagues what he thinks of them. A minor character that appears in a few issues.

These are my men. And in a moment, because they’ve been very well-behaved, I’m going to let them kill you.
You know something, Barrage? You only ever bring me good news. That’s what I like best about you.
Pharma, we really must sit down some time so I can explain why we all hate you. We’ll start with your personality and go from there.
One of the most deadly, terrifying, and brutal Decepticons out there and if anyone crosses paths with him their chances of survival are slim. With the help of Rossum, Megatron helped turn him into a Phase Sixer, a powerful warrior with unimaginable strength. He eventually took off and started to do things his own way, killing Autobots for sport, in the hopes of garnering some attention so that he could best Megatron in a fight one day. After his defeat in Garrus 9 at the hands of the Wreckers, he was stowed away on the Lost Light in restraints unbeknownst to most of the crew. Appears in a few issues. His first appearance is in issue 5.

I’m timing you. Sorry, didn’t I say? For every second of hesitation I’m going to murder one of your men. And I’m going to do it in front of you. Slowly.
Breaking free of these paper chains was never a problem—I just lacked the motivation.

A doctor who is committed to saving lives. He is assigned to Delphi, an Autobot medical facility, and eventually joins the Lost Light. He’s also an avid fan of the Wreckers. A bit young for a doctor, but is willing to take charge when things get out of control and will do his part to save patients. A supporting character that appears in issue 4 and onwards.

Ambulon thinks us medics are more resilient because we’ve been exposed to so many diseases. Personally… I think that sometimes—just sometimes, mind—life persists.
There's no risk... Okay, so there might be a risk. But two drams is nothing.
(Angry) You’re smiling. Everything you did at Delphi… all those patients you killed… and you’re smiling?
Chief Medical Officer at Delphi, and was considered an excellent doctor in his early days. However, he was offered deals by some that, to him, were too good to pass up in order to meet his quota, committing terrible acts in the process and is willing to do anything in order to get what he wants. At the beginning he will act like a good doctor, but once he reveals his true motives his sinister and rather eccentric nature will appear so whoever is cast should keep that in mind. Will appear in a couple of main story arcs. His first appearance is in issue 4.

(Before his reveal) Alright—you and First Aid lock ‘em up while I prepare the circuit slabs. Just a patch-up job, though—enough to satisfy article 7—and then we ask high command what to do with them.
(After his reveal) There you are. Finally. I was giving you two more minutes. Dramatic escapes are worthless without witnesses.
(After his reveal) A better doctor? Please. I overtook you years ago. I don’t need my hands back to slap you down.

A Decepticon who works for Lockdown as a member of his Titan Hunters who search for titans who are spread out all over the galaxy. He only has a small role in one issue.

The Ward Manager at Delphi. Like First Aid, he’s one of the few doctors stationed there and is willing to do his part to take care of the patients. He used to be a Decepticon, but after he became a test subject in a prototype combiner project, he went AWOL to escape the experiment and became an Autobot. A supporting character that appears in issue 4 and onwards.

Here we go again… First Aid, we’ve been through this a thousand times…
They’re weaponless—and clearly traumatized. What are you afraid of? You think they’re gonna whimper us to death?
I have the world's worst alt mode: I turn into a leg. Ambulon: from the verb "To ambulate," meaning "To walk about." It's a stupid name...
One of the most powerful Autobot warriors around who was a great asset during the war against the Decepticons. However, after his team was captured and overrun by Overlord’s forces, he was tortured and left in a comatose state for years. When he eventually came back online, he’s felt nothing but anger towards the Decepticons and won’t hesitate to destroy any that comes near him. A supporting character that appears in issue 4 and onwards.

(Threatening) All of which means that right now, you two—you two Decepticons—being the very first Decepticons I’ve encountered since I was all but beaten to death—are standing in the very worst place in the universe.
Go on then: one more question. So long as it’s not about G9.
(Angry) Three years! Three years before we reached the top of Prowl’s “To do” list! Three years before he sent the Wreckers to sweep up the mess!
A fun, upbeat, and sarcastic Autobot who serves as the comic relief of the series. He is a metallurgist and the bartender of the Lost Light, who enjoys cracking jokes and pulling pranks to pass the time. He also has a habit of annoying everybody. (One of the main characters.)

No, no, no, I'm here for the quest. Love a good quest. Haven’t been on a quest since the whole Luna 1 thing. The Moonquest.
But that's a whole other story. Sorry, always wanted to say that. That, and "Impossible! Our laserfire is just making him stronger!" Ahem. Go on.

An archivist and Chromedome's best friend. He can store tons of data and can record anything with the camera attached to his head. While not the fighting type, he is very friendly. (One of the main characters.)

The Security Director of the Lost Light. He can be a bit paranoid at times and constantly checks the ship for anything unusual. (A minor character who only appears in a few issues.)

We were at war for four million years. How have you managed to hold onto this stuff?
One of the members of the Lost Light who serves as a navigator and is mostly seen in the bridge, monitoring situations. (A minor character that appears every once in a while throughout the series.)

We've hopped halfway across the galaxy and we’re flying blind, and I’m sorry but I don’t know why!
We've got a hull breach—one of the hangars on the upper decks.
The psychiatrist of the ship, he talks with members of the crew in order to understand and help them in any way he can. He is known for his big eyebrows and hates not being called by his real name. (One of the main characters.)
Voice Type: Medium-low, low, soft, gentle; will accept either an American or an English accent for this character.
Nothing. Just trinkets. I collect model spacecraft. Arks, mainly.

An Ex-Wrecker and one of the powerhouses of the Lost Light. He can be a bit chaotic and insane and tends to be destructive in battles. He views the world in a less than positive light and thinks insanity is the best effective weapon. Because of his actions on the field, and even on the ship, others tend to think he's a bit crazy and he prefers to resolve conflicts by fighting instead of talking. (One of the main characters.)

A weapons engineer; he's always spending his time building new inventions that could benefit the crew, although some of his ideas can be considered ridiculous. He can be a bit of a narcissist as well. (One of the main characters.)

The Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord. He's second-in-command and doesn't tolerate any mischievous acts on board the ship. He has some trouble loosening up and can be a bit stiff most of the time. (One of the main characters.)

A young bot who went offline for years and missed the war, now he's just trying to find his place in life. He's the youngest crewmember of the Lost Light. A bit naive and very friendly, he prefers a movie night with the crew instead of fighting Decepticons. (One of the main characters.)

As the new leader of Cybertron he's determined to bring a new age to his home planet; to help the Autobots, the NAIL's, and the Decepticons live in peace in his new government. (He only appears in the first issue as well as the event known as Dark Cybertron.)

A medic who fought in the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. He joined the Lost Light to find other people in need of help. He has started to feel his age and isn't as nice as he used to be, though he does care about the rest of the crew. He can be a bit grouchy and irritated at times. (One of the main characters.)

He wasn’t dead when you brought him in. He still had a spark. It was tiny, but it was there. I should’ve been able to save him.
I’ve been doing this too long. It’s time someone else became Chief Medical Officer—someone who isn’t losing their touch.
He is the captain of the Lost Light. He began the quest for the Knights of Cybertron after Drift revealed a map to Cyberutopia, a possible place they could be residing. Although he is the leader of the crew, some of his decisions haven't always been the best and his reckless behavior has gotten them into trouble on more than one occasion. Despite this, he wants nothing more than for his crew-mates to be happy. He can be a bit brash, headstrong, energetic, cocky at times, and has a lot of self-confidence. However, he can become serious when the situation calls for it. (The main character.)

My advice? Ease up a bit. You can be too rigid in your outlook, a little flex is good sometimes. Better to bend than snap.

A mnemosurgeon who can read other people's memories by sticking syringes from his fingers into the back of someone's neck, even the dead. He has a close relationship with Rewind and isn't fond of his own talents. (One of the main characters.)

Ten minutes to launch. You know, Rewind, if you had a decent Alt Mode we wouldn’t have to walk to the launch pad.
Why didn't you use your handgun? Before I removed the claw. You were just holding it.
Which makes this tricky. I might only be able to access the last few moments. See, after they die, the details… Tend to get a little sketchy.
