Transformers More Than Meets The Eye Audio Drama (IDW) Recast

Project Overview

Edit: A couple of more roles have been added to the list of recasting. Trailbreaker and Minimus Ambus are now available to audition. All the rules below still apply.

Hello all! I've been working on an audio drama/audio read of the Transformers More Than Meets The Eye comic book. I've already cast a majority of the characters and the cast have been doing a great job with their roles. However, I am in need of some new voice actors to fill the part of a few characters since my original actor hasn't contacted me back. Please keep in mind that these characters have a major role in this series and there will be a LOT of recording to do so if you don't think you will be available for this nor will have the time, then please don't audition. Should you be cast, you will be given an invitation to join the forum where everything will be accessed. A variety of sound effects and various music tracks will be implemented into this project to help bring it to life in the best way possible as well as give it a cinematic feel. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to audition, but make sure you'd be committed for the long run.

Story: After the four million year civil war between the Autobots and the Decepticons has come to an end, thousands of non affiliated Cybertronians arrive on Cybertron, which is now in a primordial state after being purged by the Matrix. This same object has revealed a map that leads to the Knights of Cybertron, who hold the key to restoring Cybertron to the golden age. Determined to find the Knights, Rodimus recruits over 200 Cybertronians to join him on his voyage on board the starship, the Lost Light. He, alongside Ultra Magus, Drift, Ratchet, and others accompany him and travel across the stars, searching for the original Cybertronians while encountering perilous obstacles and occasionally getting sidetracked along the way.

Requirements before auditioning:

-Have a good quality microphone.

-No filters/robotic effects in your recordings. I want to hear what YOU sound like.

-Unless otherwise stated in the character descriptions, no impersonations of any past interpretations. Feel free to try your own take and have fun with it.

-Be reliable and available.

I'll also be posting a preview of one of the issues in this series above to give you a good idea of how everything will sound. I think that should be it. Audition away! If there's a question you have, let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

And with that, the cast has been chosen. Thank you all who submitted your auditions and who took the time to try out for this project! There certainly was a lot of great talent here and I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm for this series. I will more than likely post up more casting calls for minor/extra bit parts in the near future as I work through the episodes. Thanks again everybody and for those who are cast, congratulations!

Role assigned to: tblack68

A dependable, strong bot who’s always ready for a joke or for a light-hearted comment in order to lighten the mood when things get dark. However, this is mostly used to cover up his low self-esteem. While his forcefield is a valuable asset among the team, he can’t help but feel like a one-trick pony at times. When he’s feeling down, he usually finds himself at Swerve’s for a drink and has a tendency to get drunk while consuming excessive amounts of liquor. Despite this, he has a good heart and when push comes to shove, he will make the most of his abilities to help out his fellow Autobots.

Voice Type: Medium, medium-low, rough

  • Meaning, no one ever recognizes me as a person in my own right. I’m just forcefield guy.

  • (Ranting) I mean “Fortress Maximus.” Come on! What kind of a name is that? But everyone’s like, “Oh, Fortress Maximus, you’re my hero! You’ve got guns in your legs and you killed tons of ‘cons at Simanzi…” And I’m like, “That was a thousand years ago!”

  • Aaaaand... that’s where we’re gonna have a problem. See, I can’t let you take that big black… thumb or whatever it is if you’re gonna use it to kill people. For one thing, I… actually, you know what? I don’t think it needs explaining.

Role assigned to: arlen chitty

An Autobot born as a Point One Percenter and is considered to be a load-bearer, who is capable of surviving severe physical augmentations. He’s always had big dreams and aspires to serve on the front lines as a soldier like most of the Auobots who fought in the Great War. Due to some unforeseen events, he’s been arrested by Ultra Magnus and is awaiting trial in Chief Justice Tyrest’s base of operations.

Voice Type: Medium-low, low, formal, elderly, but not your stereotypical elderly voice. A good reference would be something similar to Patrick Stewart.

  • You're thinking of my spark brother, Dominus Ambus. The House of Ambus has a very distinct facial insignia… but Dominus is long gone.

  • Don't do anything rash. Escape attempts are often construed as evidence of guilt.

  • Is that why you’re keeping me out of the loop? Luna 1, the Titans outside… and don’t think I haven’t noticed the space bridge portal in the corner. What’s this about, Tyrest?

They are private shock troops of Chief Justice Tyrest; sparkless drones that were built with one goal in mind: to counteract any infractions of the Tyrest Accord. They do so without hesitation nor without any remorse as this was not a part of their programming. These drones carry out Tyrest’s commands by any means necessary. There are several of these drones, but I only need one actor.

  • Nineteen eighty-four.

  • Seventeen-twenty one.

Role assigned to: fleetman

A seasoned and skilled warrior who spent most of his life travelling with and serving under Galvatron’s rule, while being accompanied by the likes of Jhiaxus, Nova Prime and Scourge. He traveled with his former master in the Ark 1 towards the Benzuli Expanse when they found themselves in the Dead Universe. During that time, Galvatron manipulated him into launching an attack on Kimia as well as his home, Cybertron. Upon gaining his senses, he turned against him, which helped Rodimus and company gain the upper hand in saving the planet. Since then, he’s decided to travel with him on board the Lost Light in search of the Knights of Cybertron, hoping to find a new and better world due to the planet being changed into a primordial state. He’s a proud warrior and very stern as he tends to keep to himself. Cyclonus doesn’t spend a lot of time interacting with the other members of the crew all that much, but eventually starts to grow a bond with Tailgate.

Voice Type: Medium-low, low. An ideal voice for him would be similar to the late actor, Tony Jay, who you may recognize his work as Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Though, I will accept original submissions as well.

  • I'm not a Decepticon. Never have been. I fought beside Galvatron as a fellow Cybertronian.

  • I know you think we share a bond, but you’re wrong. You pester and you fuss and you talk—Primus knows you talk—and I don’t care. I think you're pathetic.

  • I've never bought into the notion of Primal Infallibility. I think that sometimes, God gets it wrong. He lets the best of us get sick and die while degenerates like you go on forever. But I think Primus is smiling on me today, Star Saber. He’s letting me correct one of his mistakes.

Role assigned to: domjam

The psychiatrist of the Lost Light. While he can be rather quiet and reserved, he’s managed to meet up with almost every post-war Autobot who’s survived the war. He talks to various members of the crew in order to help them. Although, some would require more sessions such as the likes of Whirl. He was employed at one point by the Senate as a patho-psychologist where he was equal in rank to his professional rival Froid. He doesn’t have the best of luck, as terrible circumstances seem to happen to him quite frequently and almost everybody in the galaxy never seem to remember his name. Despite this, he keeps a calm, collected composure as he does what he does best on board this voyage and his kind nature and compassion is one of his greatest strengths in helping others.

Voice Type: Medium, formal. While an English accent would be preferred, I will accept American accents as well.

  • Fortress Maximus, Garrus 9 changed everything—for you and for me. It’s the psychological equivalent of ground zero. We can’t keep dodging this.

  • Or maybe… maybe what’s really making you angry is the fact that you didn’t defeat Overlord yourself.

  • (Uneasy) This does make me a little uncomfortable, Rodimus. Not only are we technically stealing, but we’re stealing life. Raw life.
