Transformers Fall of Cybertron Audio Logs

Transformers Fall of Cybertron Audio Logs

Project Overview

In an attempt to add more lore to my fanon that combines Transformers One with the War for Cybertron video games and Star Wars, I have decided to have auditions for audio logs that are found in the Fall of Cybertron video game. Each of these characters offer their impressions, recollections, and other thoughts towards the climax of the war before they come to Earth to bring the Cybertronian civil war to our planet.

I released a fan-made 501st Journal in the world of the Transformers for Star Wars day, which was kind of the start of this fanon. You may refer to the full video at this link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5wQb8qXRmM

I hope to also find some of the original actors for these roles (e.g. Michael Bell as Sideswipe, Frank Todaro as Starscream, and Corey Burton as Shockwave).

Best of luck to all auditionees!

Optimus Prime

Role assigned to: Walker

Optimus Prime is the awe-inspiring leader of the Autobot forces. Selfless and endlessly courageous, he is the complete opposite of his mortal enemy Megatron. Originally a very optimistic and rebellious miner known as Orion Pax, he was chosen by Primus and entrusted with the Matrix of Leadership to lead, the first in a number of heavy burdens he has been forced to bear. Another is the many years of war with the Quintessons and the Decepticons, which have left him weary. Every casualty weighs heavily on his spark. He often tries to not show this side to his soldiers and almost never succumbs to despair. But because of how much of a toll this conflict has left on him, his voice should reflect this as he goes through these audio logs.

Optimus is willing to sacrifice his life to protect his fellow Autobots or those under their care and does so on a regular basis. His compassion for other sentient beings is his only real weakness, and one the Decepticons have taken advantage of time and again... though it's also the source of his strength!

For this role, I am looking for a voice close to Peter Cullen's performance in Fall of Cybertron. You may also refer to his performance in Rise of the Beasts, or how he is portrayed in the Skybound comics. You are also welcome to add a touch of Chris Hemsworth's performance from Transformers One into the voice.

  • As the Great War and the Quintesson Wars spread like a storm of burning Energon across the surface of Cybertron, devouring in its path the great city of Iacon, even I was caught off guard by the depth of Megatron's depravity. I should have anticipated his utter lack of feeling for his fellow Cybertronians… but at the expense of the lives of many thousands of my fellow Autobots and almost all of the Jedi Knights, I did not.

  • Much like when the Allspark was launched to keep it out of Megatron's hands in Helex, some argued that I should have split the convoy of Energon on its journey to Autobot City. However wise, there is no time. The transport, though heavy and cumbersome, is our best hope. In the meantime, I wonder how the Decepticons will respond to their leader being pulverized. I sense the one called Starscream has been waiting for this opportunity to reassume command of the former High Guard.

  • After countless megacycles of war with both the Quintessons and the Decepticons, I have faced no harder decision, given no more difficult order than this. Effective immediately, all Autobot soldiers are to retreat their positions and gather at Iacon. A final general evacuation has been planned, and it is presently underway. I implore all of you to resist, as I have resisted, the temptation to fight until the end. The end is here and now. Cybertron itself is past the point of survival. The future of the Autobots, and any surviving Jedi, lies beyond these war-torn lands. And that future must begin now. I look forward to the honor of serving each of you again aboard the Ark. Until then, may the Primes watch over you.

Perceptor

Role assigned to: MattReilly

Perceptor is a dedicated astronomer and physicist, one of the most brilliant scientists ever produced by Cybertron, and he is not interested at all in the mystical or supernatural. Much of the technology used by the other Autobots was due to his discoveries. There's a paradox named after him, presumably one he theorized. Distant and antisocial, Perceptor speaks with a bluntness befitting a scientist.

For this role, you will need to refer to his G1 portrayal by Paul Eiding, or in Fall of Cybertron as played by Jim Ward. His tone should be one that is weary of war, but more fascinated (or rather worried) about the effects of rust storms on Cybertron on his fellow Autobots.

  • Fellow Autobots, per technological directive 8-4-Beta-1, initiated by Optimus Prime and executed by myself, Perceptor, and my team, Teletran sub terminals have been brought back online where possible in inhabitable facilities and structures across Cybertron. Though antiquated by standards we have come to expect, the Teletran terminals are perfectly functional and efficient. And so every soldier is encouraged to check in and upgrade or repair your weapons when necessary.

  • The supply of Energon may be on every Cybertronian’s mind. But I have observed the encroaching influence and effects of rust on many Autobots. We must be ever vigilant to its presence… or this city, and even Antilla before it, will overtake us all.

  • Onslaught. Brawl. Vortex. Swindle. Blastoff. Each one a formidable force in his own right. Together? Ha! Talk about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts! When the Combaticons combine to form Bruticus, or the Constructicons combine into Devastator, any Autobots in the vicinity are facing a whole world of hurt! I am hopeful, however, that if fate willing, we can create our own combiners to bring balance of this conflict back to our favor.

Ratchet

Role assigned to: Gabriel De Farias

The Autobots' medical officer, Ratchet has a dry wit, often giving his wounded comrades a hard time for taking hits he somehow avoids. With the Energon supplies becoming less and less, he works to find new ways to make do, and he'd really prefer if the Autobots didn't risk injury (or worse) to protect humans.

Optimus Prime's best friend, and de facto second-in-command, you'd be hard-pressed to find another Autobot who loves his leader as much as he does. Yet this is not to say Ratchet has blind faith in him; Ratchet resents Optimus' lack of action over the years regarding ending the war and many missed chances to kill Megatron. He's as flawed as any normal being would be, and a huge vice is his Cybertronian pride. At least once, it's nearly cost him the life of a friend. Furthermore, his grief for his destroyed home world is what drives him. He didn't take the loss of Cybertron very well, and would do almost anything to get it back some day.

For this role, we are looking for a performance similar to how Jeffrey Combs plays the character in Transformers Prime. You may also refer to how he is portrayed in Fall of Cybertron by Fred Tatasciore.

  • Like many of the Jedi Knights, Optimus may subsist on sheer determination and will alone. Great leaders draw their power from conviction. Their armies, however, march forward only from the power of Energon. This great and terrible war will soon reach its end; not because all have finally become one, but simply, I fear, because all have become none.

  • Seldom have I felt more vulnerable on such a mission. I think my fellow Autobots feel the same. Here we are, wheeling a slow moving slug of a transport loaded with highly unstable and incredibly explosive Energon through highly contested territory in broad daylight. Oh! And did I forget to mention that if we do encounter Decepticon resistance, and this powder keg blows, it won't just be our metallic hides burning up in the inferno, but the entire future of every Autobot?

  • Has Optimus witnessed first-hand the sight of Trypticon disassembled, torn from limb to limb, his still living carcass slowly bled dry by our leeching tubes? Does war truly give us the right to live like parasites off our fallen enemies? I am hopeful that those wiser than me see issues such as this more clearly than I.

Ironhide

Role assigned to: SonicSpeed123606

Ironhide, the Autobots' resident weapons specialist, is one of the oldest and toughest Autobots, and has been on Optimus Prime's team for a long time. "They don't make them like they used to" is an apt description of Ironhide—he's yesterday's model, but he's built to last. He is old because he is hard. He's probably had enough replacement parts to build a small army, but Ironhide doggedly refuses to roll over and die for anyone. He'll fight to the bitter end and take down more than his fair share of Decepticons in the process.

Gruff and ornery, he prefers actions to words, and dislikes talk for talk's sake. He may not always see optic to optic with Prime, despite their friendship. He's perhaps the more practical of the two, and more than a little trigger happy, so he can be more willing to push the Autobot code to the limit if he thinks it will get the job done faster.

But though he may be rough around the edges, he's still somewhat optimistic and upbeat in spite of the toll the War has taken on him. But he always seems to think that the upside to being through more than your share of trouble means trouble ain't so big a scare anymore.

For this role, you will need to refer to both Peter Cullen's performance from G1 and Keith Szarabajka's performances from the War for Cybertron games. The latter of the two is preferrable.

ALSO: Please be aware that these three audition lines are the only audio logs for Ironhide. Whomever I choose will be notified if I want a "callback," or consider the role as complete.

  • Ironhide's log. Been fighting this war for so long, sometimes I forget how it even started. In the early cycles, Cybertronians knew nothing but the job they were born into, the daily grind of an orderly world. Things seemed to change the blink of an optic. We evolved as a society and free thinkers. Many of us wanted to be free to explore the cosmos. Others had more sinister designs.

  • A young miner named Orion Pax was the first to sense that something was wrong. Often diving into the Hall of Records and getting himself into trouble, he dared to monitor the same transmissions as everyone else. But he heard so much more. Orion was the first to realize that Sentinel Prime was a deceptive traitor as he and fellow miners Elita-1, B-127, and his best friend D-16 journeyed to the surface to find the Matrix of Leadership. From that point on, D-16 began to have ambitions that soon far outreached his success in the mines. After killing Sentinel Prime before everybody's eyes, taking Megatronus Prime's transformation cog for himself, and then being banished from Iacon by Orion, now bearing the Matrix and having been christened as Optimus Prime, D-16 created a new identity, and Megatron and the Decepticons were born.

  • When the Decepticons came, they came with a ferocity no one had seen before. We Autobots were not fighters. We had no experience in war. We were ill-prepared to face Megatron's legions. Gladiators that made up the Cybertronian High Guard, now thriving under nothing but destruction and mayhem. If we had any advantage, it was the fact that we felt we were fighting for a truer cause… freedom.

Sideswipe

Role assigned to: Derik-TF

Sideswipe is not nearly as much of a sociopath as his brother Sunstreaker, but he is every bit as skillful. He's more into battle for the sport of it. A bit of a jock, Sideswipe most craves a glorious fight to the finish as a test of his mettle.

With a little reckless edge in his tactics, Sideswipe makes rash decisions that may endanger him, all in the name of possible victory. When everything is on the line, nothing is out of the question for Sideswipe, even cheating. Although his reckless attitude has not changed over time, his cause has: once in it solely for the glory, he's now driven by the desire to defend freedom and the innocent.

However, because of the Great War, Sideswipe is a bit uneasy in these audio logs that he records, and has doubts and questions regarding the specifications to the Ark. It's no secret that he has a tinge of disdain for this Autobot craft, and frustration is in his voice as he records as it seems that nobody is willing to listen to him.

For this role, you will need to refer to Michael Bell's performance as Sideswipe from G1. For overall tone and emotion, please refer to how Travis Willingham portrays the character in Fall of Cybertron.

  • Battlefield log 1186. Sideswipe transmitting for Optimus. Ark Energon fuel levels have been checked and rechecked. The situation is worse than we have feared. Many were of the opinion that even before Megatron's latest offensive, Energon levels were insufficient for extended space travel. Now, after another protracted battle with the Decepticons, there is no more room for debate. At the current levels of consumption, we will not have enough Energon to even reach the space bridge portal safely.

  • Ark inspection log 1245. Sideswipe here, transmitting to… to… well, whoever will listen. Which at this point seems like no one. Once again, I feel compelled to record my objection to the current specifications to the Autobots’ exodus craft, the so-called Ark, a prototype Vanguard class deep space interceptor, modified to be nearly a hundred times larger than the starfighters used in the Quintesson Wars. With insufficient armor plating and only sixteen particle combustion cannons and sixteen laser emitters, it is apparent, to myself at least, that only the craft's propulsion system is adequate to the task at hand. Clearly, the Ark is intended to simply outrun any hostile craft.

  • Ark inspection log 1313, my final entry in this record. As anyone who has listened to these updates can attest, my assessment of this so-called Ark has been far from optimistic. Though assembled by a perfectly competent team of engineers in a most efficient manner, it seemed impossible to imagine that such a humble craft would be capable of carrying the entirety of the Autobots’ hopes and dreams as its cargo.

Onslaught

Role assigned to: That Xeno Guy

As leader of the Combaticons, Onslaught is a genius when it comes to strategy. While this tactical skill is his most impressive asset, he's more proud of the fact that he's so much bigger than his peers. In true Decepticon fashion, Onslaught likes to show off his brawn by bullying smaller foes. Precision, strategy, and cunning are his watchwords, and they're necessary to rein in his fellow Combaticons. Submitting himself to Shockwave's combiner experiments some time after the Decepticons were created, he became the core of the dangerously unstable gestalt form known as Bruticus.

For this role, you will need to refer to Travis Willingham's portrayal of the character in Fall of Cybertron.

  • Starscream's really stepped into it this time. He's pressing charges against us? Like this whole thing was our fault! It's a true scientific marvel that guy can spew so much scrap without running dry.

  • After nearly thirty solar cycles since the Quintesson Wars ended, what seemed like a nanoclick in comparison to the millennium of oppression endured by Cybertronians, the status quo has finally been destroyed. Optimus Prime and his foolish Autobots continue to resist the tide of history, toiling under the persistent delusion that they can single-handedly reverse the flow of time itself. The struggle of freedom has been won. The revolution will be permanent!

  • Peace will be attained through war and nothing short of it. Hearing this simple truth so eloquently expressed was the first time I took genuine notice of the former miner called Megatron. Like most Decepticons, I felt an inexplicable draw to the gladiator pits of Kaon that he established after his banishment from Iacon. We were pulled to the arenas as if the violence was somehow beckoning to us, which, of course, it was. The foolish Jedi Knights and even Optimus himself underestimated Megatron for this reason. They believed that the bot once known as D-16 created a revolution, when the opposite was the case. The revolution destroyed D-16 and created Megatron.

Megatron

Role assigned to: Gabriel De Farias

The humble energon miner known only as D-16 was a stickler to protocol, a Megatronus Prime fanboy who believed strict adherence to the system and its rules would one day allow him to ascend to greater heights. His attitude often served as a reality check and grounding presence to his best friend, the bold and adventurous Orion Pax. However, after experiencing events that left his entire worldview turned upside down, D-16 would embark on a path consumed by anger and revenge... a path that corrupted him into a despotic villain even worse than the one he rose up to fight against. A villain called Megatron.

As they say, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Megatron's Decepticon revolution, like many such movements, ended up becoming a whole new tyranny. Powerful, charismatic, violent, and full of rage for any who would stand in the way of his ambition and drive, Megatron brought Cybertron past the brink of destruction. Megatron will never forgive Optimus for "betraying" him, sacrificing himself for Sentinel Prime and then banishing him from Iacon as he recieved the rank of Prime which was rightfully his. He has reserved for his old friend the greatest honor possible: glorious death at his hands.

For this role, you will need to refer to how Frank Welker portrays the character in Prime and/or The Last Knight. You are also welcome to refer to Fred Tatasciore's performances from the Fall of Cybertron games.

  • Trypticon failed me in spectacular fashion. I considered the transgression to be unforgivable. That is until my brilliant, and compassionate, intellect realized that there was in fact a Penance worthy enough to compensate for Trypticon's failings. We are in need of a spacecraft large enough to transport several dozen battle groups. Trypticon is no longer in need of his body. I see an elegant calculus in the making.

  • Shockwave, all effort must now be focused on remote extraction of the target planet's Energon reserves. Your calculations Inspire sufficient confidence that such a plan is not only possible but probable. Such an influx of raw Energon right here on Cybertron will not only provide the sufficient means of destroying Optimus and his Autobots once and for all, but also fuel the rebirth of our great empire. This is no longer an aspiration. It must be made a reality.

Role assigned to: Gagerrager

Starscream is the treacherous Decepticon Air Commander and the deadliest of the Seekers with a "might makes right" philosophy that often brings him to blows with trespassers, pacifists, or even people who just don't agree with him. The self-proclaimed pride of the Cybertronian High Guard, he's famous not only for his incredible skill, but also for his limitless (and troublesome) ambition. Because of his former lifestyle as the High Guard's leader, Starscream believes that he is more suited for command than Megatron for the simple reason that before they even first met, he waged a long and arduous guerrilla war in an effort to put an end to Sentinel Prime's corrupt rule.

Thankfully for Megatron, Starscream's mutinous, power-grabbing plots are almost always transparent, and he can never muster up enough patience to complete a grandiose power play. Even on the few times he has taken command of the Decepticons, he quickly loses control of a situation, but is too arrogant to realize when he's in over his head. He never learns from his mistakes... but then again, Megatron doesn't either, seeing as how he's never turned Starscream into slag. Despite his constant failures, Starscream believes it is only a matter of time before he prevails—his destiny to return to leadership of the Decepticons is inevitable.

For this role, you will need to refer to Frank Todaro's performance of the character from Cyberverse or the War for Cybertron Trilogy on Netflix, or to Steve Buscemi's performance from TF One.

  • *sigh of annoyance* For a scientist, Shockwave can sure act like an absolute idiot sometimes. He’s wasted far too much time on this defunct Energon tower. There is a lake of high-grade Energon shimmering right in front of his eyes, and all he does is mutter to himself and make countless calculations up in that blasted refinery of his! Sometimes I just want to shout “Hey! Shockwave! Want to go for a swim today? Heard there’s a nice gigantic pool of Energon ten feet from where you’re standing!”

Role assigned to: Tristan Cullens

Shockwave is a high-ranking member of the High Guard and one of Starscream's top lieutenants. He holds strong opinions about the structure of the High Guard, and is more than ready to act upon them... even though select applications of violence tend to be effective in persuading him to think otherwise.

However, after the Decepticons were created, he experimented on himself and completely removed all of his emotions to serve only logic, making him much more menacing and frightening for not just the Autobots but his fellow Decepticons as well. He's willing to ignore petty squabbles and jabs at him, and will only do what he finds logical. Megatron is pleased by his dedication and his competence stemming from it, starkly contrasting with the egotistical and gloating Starscream. His passive nature to goings-on around him may paint him as apathetic, but whoever believes that is writing their death warrant. Shockwave is as brutal and fierce as any Decepticon warrior, and has the strength and durability to withstand everything from explosions to Autobot assault. He does not take well to attempts on his life or his experiments failing or being tampered with.

For this role, you will need to refer to how he is portrayed in the Skybound comics as well as Corey Burton's performances from both G1 and Animated. You may also add a tinge of Steve Blum's portrayal of the character from Fall of Cybertron or David Sobolov's performance in Prime.

  • What an unexpected surprise. A small team of Autobots have been captured by my Insecticons. Their leader Grimlock is an impressive specimen indeed. I will enjoy breaking them all, as I have with defective Clones and any Jedi that may have survived the Great Purge of Iacon.

  • Shockwave’s log. Inspired by my enhancements on the Autobots, I have decided to create a few upgrades for my personal arsenal. When finished, this gun could generate enough power to rival even Megatron’s.

  • Lab report 1163. “Spitter.” The name says it all. The most direct and simple combination of this series of experiments after discovering a flying lightweight Insecticon-like creature in the wilds of the target planet. Only slight source code modifications were necessary to optimize new species for combat and reconnaissance.

Role assigned to: SonicSpeed123606

Grimlock views Optimus Prime as a weak leader, too afraid to make the tough calls and act on instinct. As such Grimlock is more than ready to disobey orders if he thinks the ends will justify the means. His one obvious redeeming feature is his attachment to his team. As leader of the Lightning Strike Coalition Force, he has gathered together a group of similar-minded individuals he would do anything for. Together they handle the jobs the Autobots don't have the stomach for.

Shockwave's experiments not only granted Grimlock a new alternate form, but increased his power tenfold. Unfortunately this was at the cost of his intelligence. While he is far from stupid, Shockwave's experiments have made it more difficult for the former field commander to think rationally and made his already prominent rage issues all the more severe. Fortunately his team, reborn as the Dinobots, have become more tight-knit than ever. Together they are helping overcome his disgust at what Shockwave has done to him and see the advantages of his new power.

For this role, you will need to refer to how he is portrayed in Fall of Cybertron by Gregg Berger, and let the anger against Optimus Prime's supposed "weakness" seem to flow as you audition with this.

Soundwave is one of Megatron's most reliable troops, and he has positioned himself comfortably and irreplaceably in the Decepticon upper command structure. Though "only" Communications Officer, Soundwave stands at Megatron's side as a confidant, comparable in rank to Starscream and Shockwave, but unlike the former, entirely loyal to his leader. Though stoic and possessed of little outward personality (as evidenced by his monotone computer-style speech), Soundwave is not without drives: he has worked hard to get where he is, and he guards his place in the Decepticon hierarchy fiercely. On top of hearing all in his role as Communications Officer and Decepticon spy-master, he is actually capable of "reading minds" by scanning and decoding the electrical impulses that carry "thoughts" in both organics and Cybertronians, and he will not hesitate to use what he learns as blackmail to keep himself high in Megatron's esteem. As such, Soundwave is not popular among the rank-and-file Decepticons, who see him as a two-faced snake and wouldn't mind abandoning him on the battlefield—if they thought Megatron would let them get away with it.

For this role, you will need to refer to Isaac C. Singleton Jr.'s performance in the War for Cybertron games or Frank Welker's portrayal through different Transformers media (particularly G1). It may be wise to look into tutorials and videos Audacity to work on vocoding the voice to sound like he does in most media, while maintaining a monotonous undertone.

Role assigned to: c.head490

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a legendary Jedi Master who played a significant role in the fate of the galaxy during the waning days of the Great War and the Quintesson Wars. He was the mentor of Anakin Skywalker and many others, training many in the ways of the Force. He had a long and tumultuous career that helped shape the fate of the entire Cybertronian race.

As a High Jedi General, Kenobi fought during many battles of the Quintesson Wars, and was one of the last members of the Jedi High Council. Even after his apprentice became a Jedi Knight, Kenobi and Skywalker fought together many times, becoming a widely renowned pair. Kenobi earned the sobriquet "the Negotiator" through his charm and calm demeanor as well as the quiet threat of his abilities with a lightsaber. Later in the war, Skywalker saved his life in a battle fought over Cybertron's orbit to save the city speaker Windblade. However, he was soon betrayed during the fall of Iacon, as Commander Cody, following Order 66, opened fire on him.

Kenobi met up with his old mentor Grand Master Yoda, and the two realized that not many Jedi had survived the attacks after the Quintesson Wars. The two returned to the Jedi Temple, where they learned the agonizing truth: Anakin, now lost to the dark side of the Force, had led an attack to kill all Jedi and several Autobots remaining in the Temple of the Primes, following orders from Megatron. Kenobi traveled to Megatron's fortress Darkmount in order to duel his former apprentice and friend, now the brutish Decepticon enforcer and founder of the Decepticon Justice Division named Tarn. Finally, Tarn was taken in by the fortress's smelting pit, and Kenobi remorsefully left him to die. Kenobi and Yoda then went into exile, with only a select few Jedi still alive to help fight in the Great War. This singular audio log is his final message before he fully commited himself to being an Autobot fighting in the shadows.

For this role, you will need to refer to James Arnold Taylor's portrayal in the Clone Wars series and/or Ewan McGregor's performances in the Star Wars prequels and the Kenobi series.

  • This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both the Republic and our Jedi Order have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Decepticon Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder to any and all surviving Jedi dispersed throughout the galaxy: Trust in the Force. Do not return to the temple in Iacon. That time has passed, and our future remains uncertain. Cybertron has nearly fallen, and those of us who are still here must now defer to Optimus Prime. We will each be challenged as both Jedi and Autobots: our trust, our friendships, our faith. But we must persevere, and in time, a new hope will emerge. Until the day where all are one, may the Force be with you. Always.
