Project Overview

Overview

Titan Arum is a novel that I have been working on for close to two years now and have been planning it for an additional one. It is a fantasy novel with hints of sci-fi. I would categorize it as YA fiction. The plot revolves around Oliver Green, a 15-year-old boy who has just joined a superhuman branch of the military and now must prepare to face the consequences of his actions. There are themes such as gore and violence. I would like for this novel to become published, whether self-published or not, but realistically this is more of a passion project. I am an amateur teen writer, so I don't expect any lucrative success. Unless a profit is made off of this novel, I am afraid this will be unpaid. We can discuss a proper split in case a profit is made in further detail once talents have been chosen. This is the beginning of the project, and if things progress smoothly, I expect to also be looking for voice actors in the future.

Time Frame

Beta Readers

I expect this novel to go through the final stages of editing within a year, if not sooner. To maintain this schedule, I'd like for the beta-readers to read a minimum of 6 chapters a month for a total of 41 chapters. Most chapters are no longer than 10 pages in A5 format. There is a total of 185 pages in A5 format. This schedule will be pretty inflexible to remain on track.

Artists

By the end of that year, I do want to have the cover finalized as well as a few scenes drawn up. I don't expect all scenes to be drawn by the end of the year. We can discuss in further detail once talents have been chosen, but I can be incredibly flexible with the cover artist and illustrators.

Commitment

This will be a commitment on all parts. Please be aware that I want to take this seriously, and I don't want this project to fizzle out. I am willing to work with talents to ensure that everything can get done, as I understand this is unpaid work and people also have their own lives.

Beta Readers

You will have no further work after you have completed a read-through of the novel. I expect each reader to take no more than six months to read the book.

Artists

We will have the entire year to work on the cover art for the novel. We can start immediately or wait until the book has at least gone through the second round of editing or is near solidified in its major content. Therefore, we may not begin doing much more than basic planning until a few months from now.

I would like for a minimum of 13 illustrations to be produced, and perhaps 1-3 short animations. These will be split amongst both illustrators. Once again, the illustrations will have a very loose deadline, as they will be used once the audiobook is being published. The animations will have to be taken care of then, once lines are recorded, but the illustrations can be drawn throughout the year as I finalize chapters.

  • New Project

    For anyone who followed this project and didn't get casted, there is another project that has been opened regarding it. This one includes roles for voice actors and artists. Please check it out if you are interested.

  • Applications

    I've made my final decisions for the cover artist, illustrator 1, and beta-reader 1 and will be closing those roles. I'm still deciding on beta reader 2 and illustrator 2, so those two roles will remain open for new submissions for at least another day.

  • Submission Decisions

    I've decided that there will likely be multiple beta-readers chosen for beta-reader 1 at least. Once we have 1-2 submissions for beta-reader 2, I'll close the project soon afterwards (give or take 2 business days) and will make my final decisions.
