Project Overview
The Walking Dead focuses on Rick Grimes, a Kentucky deputy who is shot in the line of duty and awakens from a coma in a zombie apocalypse that has resulted in a state-wide quarantine. After joining with some other survivors, he gradually takes on the role of leader of a community as it struggles to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Rick is a small town sheriff's deputy and is married to Lori. They have a son, Carl, and a daughter, Judith. He awakens from a coma after a life-threatening gunshot wound to find the world overrun by reanimated humans dubbed "walkers".

After the loss of his wife, Morgan always tried to protect Duane in the harsh apocalypse and maintained his humanity. He saves a lost and confused Rick Grimes and helps him to survive before they part ways. Unfortunately Duane would eventually be killed by a walker, causing Morgan to lose his sanity.

Despite his strong leadership abilities, combat proficiency, skills with firearms, and protective instincts, Shane was also a largely morally unstable man. By the second season, he had only one motive: to keep himself, Lori, her unborn child (who he believed to be his), and Carl safe, no matter the cost.
