The Unofficial Owlboy Fandub - Emergency Recast for Twig
Project Overview
NOTE: This casting call will contain moderate spoilers for Owlboy!
This is an emergency recast for the character Twig in the Unofficial Owlboy Fandub. Due to life circumstances, the previous VA has unfortunately had to leave the project, so we are looking to find a replacement. The project deadline is much shorter than previous rounds of casting, as we're hoping for a quick turnaround. If cast for the role, please be ready to record and submit a group of 7 lines for the next episode soon after, ideally within a week at most.
The Unofficial Owlboy Fandub seeks to create a YouTube series of a fully voice-acted playthrough of D-Pad Studios' 2016 platformer, Owlboy. The official YouTube channel of the dub can be found here, and the first episode can be found here.
Owlboy is a 2016 retro-style platformer created by D-Pad Studios. It focuses on the story of a young Owl named Otus, born a mute and unable to speak, in a land where the only livable area is made up of large islands floating in the sky. The Owls are an ancient race, and once had a sprawling civilization that dominated the planet, with magnificent technology and high culture. However, hundreds of years ago, they went through a mysterious collapse, and now are only a shadow of what they once were.
Audition information:
This project will be coordinated via Discord. ALL AUDITIONS MUST INCLUDE A VALID DISCORD USERNAME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR CASTING. If you do not wish to publicly disclose your Discord tag, you may send it to me in a private message.
All cast members are expected to be responsive to any direct messages or mentions by the project coordinator within a reasonable timeframe. If a cast member is unresponsive to a DM or mention from the project coordinator after a full week, any roles belonging to that cast member will be subject to recasting without warning.
Please ensure that your mic does not have excessive background noise or distortion. Many characters in the game have lines in which they shout, so your setup should be able to handle those lines without cutting out, popping, or clipping.
Please do not slate your auditions. You do not need to state your name or provide anything else in your audio except the lines themselves.

Twig is a hyperactive, spider-like troublemaker who is initially in league with the pirates, terrorizing Otus and his friends through much of the game. However, the pirates eventually abandon him when they decide he isn't needed anymore. Then, with nowhere else to go, decides to join up with Otus' crew. On the surface he's wacky, mischievous, and carefree, though underneath he's actually quite insecure, revealing that he only worked with the pirates because he just wanted some friends to hang out with.
It is revealed later in the game that Twig is not actually a real spider, but rather a stick bug who likes to dress up in a spider costume in order to look cool. Twig's father and brother look down upon his antics with disdain, but ultimately still care about him and his wellbeing.
Voice guidelines: Medium to high pitch. Most of the time, Twig outwardly conveys a mischievous, happy-go-lucky attitude, but during the times when the facade cracks, such as in the second audition line, he is much more anxious and timid.
Note: I am not looking for a voice-match with the previous VA. Just try your best to fit the character.
