The son of Russian immigrants, Joseph passed himself off as an Italian and joined the Maggia. Mortally wounded in a brawl, he was given a new life when a down-and-out surgeon named Jonas Harrow performed an experimental operation that replaced most of his skull with a steel alloy, giving his head a boxed look but making it hard enough to even block some of Spider-Man's punches.

Kaine was the second clone of Spider-Man created by the Jackal. He was suffering from clone degeneration and was used as a test subject until he fled.

Maria Hill is a character who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics that first appeared in New Avengers #4 (April 2005), and was created by Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch.
After the scandalous affair of the Secret War and its disastrous effect on New York City, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury goes into hiding. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, viewed by the leaders of several nations as being both an efficient agent and, more importantly in their eyes, not directly loyal to Fury or any of his core group, is appointed interim Executive Director, being expected to be loyal to United States interests before those of the United Nations, which S.H.I.E.L.D. is supposed to serve before any other country.

The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., a 'Level 10' agent, and campaigner for the Avengers Initiative. He comes to each of the heroes one by one, urging them to join S.H.I.E.L.D. in assembling a team to protect the world from its approaching threats. Despite being personally involved in recruiting them, though, he's a busy man and has many urgent responsibilities to juggle, including dealing with his superiors, the World Security Council. Consequently, he can't always be trusted, though he can be counted on to do what he feels is right.

A well-known female mercenary, she's been both an ally and a foe to the webslinger. Joining the Wild Pack at the age of seventeen, Silver Sable served as second-in-command until the death of her father, Ernst Sablinova. Based in Symkaria, a tiny country sharing a border with Latveria, the Wild Pack began offering its services internationally under Silver Sable's leadership. Eventually gaining approval from the Symkaria government, the Wild Pack would become one of the country's largest economic contributors.

A captain on the NYPD and a close ally of Spider-Man. She has an under-the-table alliance with the wall-crawler to bring in criminals that neither of them would be able to alone.
