Plot
A mad scientist, who is dying from an incurable heart disease, builds a time machine. He then relives December 31 over and over again so that he can repeatedly kill his cousin who has wronged him. Lamont Cranston and Margot Lane are the only two conscious enough to realize the repetition of New Year's Eve, and together they successfully change the course of events to prevent the villain's evil deed.

Mr. Hughes is a dear friend of Lamont Cranston. He recently found out that his Uncle Matthew has passed away, inheriting his wealth. Hughes also got a call from his cousin, Mr. Willard, informing him that he has created a "Time Machine" and how he is dying due to a bad heart. When hughes reaches Willard's house, it turns out that Willard is wanting to kill his own cousin but not only once; but a thousand times with the help of his "time machine"...
I wish I could have made it more Cranston, but it hasn’t been a terribly good year for me.
Oh, I meant to tell you Cranston, I’ll be late. I got a call this morning from a second cousin of mine. Wants me to come and see him this evening. Brilliant scientist but I suspect he’s losing his mind.
[Chuckles] Well I’m from Missouri. Anyway, I’m really going to see my cousin not because of his alleged invention but… [Saddened] Well because he’s dying.
Only a miracle would keep me away Cranston. [Chuckling] A miracle like- [chuckling] like the time machine! [Chuckles][Confused] To… kill me? [Thinking Willard is joking] Wh- why your joking.
Prevent the- the future from happening? Oh, now, now, look Willard, Look, let me call you physician.
[Not believing Willard] You expect me to believe that this day will never end- It’s going to make December 31st repeat itself forever? [Laughs][Panicking] I… I can’t! I’m paralyzed! I- I can’t get out of this chair!
[Panicking, Scared] No- No! [Screams] Help! Help!
[Panicking] Please, please Willard, help me! Help me! I don’t want to die!
Willard is the second cousin to Mr. Hughes, he is known to be a brilliant scientist, he ahs claimed to have built a "Time Machine" unfortunately he is dying beacuse of his bad heart, the doctors claimed that he only has a few days left to live. So Willard has decided to do everything he has ever wanted in one day, including killing his own cousin, Hughes.....
[Cuts In] Come, come Hughes. I’ll never see the new year, if that’s what your thinking. Know what I’ve done today?
The things I wanted to do all my life. Packed them all in this one long glorious day! I smoked two-dollar cigars, eaten the finest foods, bought thousands of dollars’ worth of completely useless things just for the fun of indulging myself [Chuckle]
What are you sorry about, I’m not. Matter of facts I’ve just begun to celebrate and you must join me Hughes, absolutely insist. I bought a marvelous sherry today, a rare vintage. [Rings the bell]Chuckling] Oh, it’ll grow on yah. Finish it, Hughes. Drink to my last day on Earth!
To my last day on Earth! [Pause] [Mutters in anger] And to yours… my dear cousin…
Hughes, I told you that today I meant to satisfy every ambition I’ve ever had. Well I left for the last, my greatest ambition of all... [Mutters] To kill youIf it hadn’t been for you, I’d have been Uncle Matthew’s fare-head boy. His favorite- his pet. He would have raised me in luxury instead of you!
[Cuts in] [Angered] He would have let Me his money, not you, you Judas! [Pause] [Mutters] You had everything… While I starved… Scraped, suffered. I prooted over that, my fine cousin. A whole lifetime. And now, this wonderful day. This last day of the year I’m going to kill you. I’m going to kill you not once, but a thousand times. You see that machine in the corner.
Time is like a railroad track. A straight railroad track, Hughes. And the world is its train running along on that track. On the track behind us lies December 30th, the day we’re traveling along that section of track we call December 31st and at midnight tonight the train you and I, the whole universe… is scheduled to plunge straight ahead into January 1st of the new year. You follow me so far, Hughes?
