The OVERTALE Chronicles : Character Auditions

Project Overview

NOTE:  THIS IS AUDITIONS FOR THE FAN AUDIO DRAMA, THE OVERTALE CHRONICLES!  THE AUDITIONS FOR THE FAN GAME, OVERTALE, ARE CLOSED!  HOWEVER, AUDITIONS FOR THE FAN AUDIO DRAMA ARE OPEN!

From the upcoming fan-game OVERTALE comes The OVERTALE Chronicles, a fan audio drama set a few years before the start of OVERTALE.

After the MONSTERs were freed from the UNDERGROUND, HUMANs have formed an unsteady relationship to avoid any potential conflicts that may arise in the future.  However, both races have become suspicious of each other, causing rebellion to spark among the two races.  KING ASGORE and THE HUMAN GOVERNMENT are at odds with one another, as both sides vie for equality that can be merely expressed as an illusion.  Yet, in the world of SCIENCE, there is still hope, as HUMAN and MONSTER scientists come together in hopes of uniting their peoples under the pursuit of technology.

The OVERTALE Chronicles is set within the UNDERTALE Universe, years after the MONSTERS were freed from the UNDERGROUND.  The audio drama is set a few years before the events of OVERTALE, to prepare the gamer for a taste of the World of OVERTALE.

The audio drama follows the story of Dr.  Andrew Norton, a scorned scientist whose reputation had been tarnished by a tragic lab accident that left one of his superiors dead.  Now left with nothing, Andrew is tasked with one last chance to prove himself towards the SCIENCE community.  In his trials and tribulations, he will come face to face with many monsters and humans who will test the morality of his actions.  But amidst his struggle to clear his name, Andrew will eventually discover a plot to eradicate the fragile peace between HUMANs and MONSTERs, which will leave the fate of this alliance in his hands.  Which is more important:  redemption or salvation?

How much will you sacrifice in order to save life?

NOTE:  CONTENT INDICATED IN THIS AUDIO DRAMA IS NOT INDICATIVE OF OVERTALE.  ALONG THE WAY, SOME PARTS MAY BE EDITED IN THE FUTURE IN ORDER TO KEEP TO THE OVERTALE UNIVERSE.  OVERTALE IS A WORKING GAME IN PROGRESS, RELEASING TO THE PUBLIC ON A LATER DATE!

The OVERTALE Chronicles is looking for a few voices to help some of the main characters in the series!  For some extras, there might be some parts where you get to play in multiple episodes!

*REQUIREMENTS:*

-Your mic quality needs to be clear enough for us to hear your voice.  If we hear any background noises, static, or a high amount of pops within the voice, the distractions will effect the way we review the voices.  We want to hear the voice itself, and not be hindered by distractions.

-It is preferable to use a high-quality microphone to use in recording, in tandem with a pop filter.  It helps to remove background noises and other distractions.

-Pay attention towards the notable people that are listed in the descriptions;  you do not to need to copy their voice acting styles, per se, but these are great examples to help portray their characters.

-Don't use the same voice with the same character.  Add some emotion or feeling to your performance.  Get in character to better portray the position you're playing for!

Voice Actor
Voice Actor
High Councilwoman Andrea Jacobi
closed
Unpaid
Role assigned to: namelessdubslisa

Andrea Jacobi is one of the highest ranking Councilwomen in the Human Government, and the Overseer of all Human/Monster relations with King Asgore.  The very severe nature of her job causes her to be cold and calculating, counting on every dirty trick in the book to get her people to do the job the way she wants it done.  A fervent believer in humanity, Jacobi doesn't care for the monsters, nor will she do anything in her power to show some shred of equality between the other race.  In fact, it was Jacobi's own proposal that sparked the Race Laws into effect, stating that the alliance between humans and monsters must be maintained through segregation and borders.  Manipulation is a powerful tool, and Jacobi wields it with an iron fist that crushes anything within her grasp.

Notable performances that inspired Andrea Jacobi's character are Sigourney Weaver from the Alien series, Jullianne Moore from Still Alice and The Hunger Games, Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and Imelda Staunton as the nefarious Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter series.

  • "So, they say you're the so-called "Scorn of Humanity"?  The way I see it, Andrew, you're just a spoiled, little brat who can't even get over himself."

  • "Every piece is a pawn; we move pawns around to put the kings in checkmate.  However, in my game, I already have my pawns set up.  So, before you make your next move, tell me, do you honestly think that you have the power to save both races from extinction?"

  • "The reason why I called you here, Andrew, is not because of your supposed "knowledge" of the human SOUL.  I called you in here to help me solve a problem; one you created long ago in the Terra Nova Laboratory.  Humanity is on the brink of war, Andrew, and I will do anything in my power to keep my people alive.  Even if it means slaughtering innocent monster children."

The Monster Rebels (Extras)
open
Unpaid

The Monster Rebels were formed in response to the Human Radicals, after Monster/Human communities were suddenly raided by the human fanatic group.  When KING ASGORE insisted a peaceful movement, some MONSTERs preffered the old ways of way, thus taking arms against the Radicals and meeting them in combat.  Now, after a few years of fighting, the Rebels struggle to maintain their determination and a hope for a better future...

The Rebels are comprised of a group of young and old monsters, who come from various communities around the Surface.  Each of them share a common goal that one a day, humanity and monsterkind will live together in harmony.

  • "We only want peace with you HUMANS.  Why do you insist that we're the enemy?"

  • "It's typical for you to be frightened of us, but we fear you just as much."

  • "We fight to protect our people; the Radicals must be stopped, no matter the cost."

Enrique Alvarez Sanchez

Unpaid

Enrique is the Chief Electrical Engineer of Sprawl Station, in charge of handling the power structures and circuitry that is being implemented to update the station.  Genuinely a fast-talking individual, Enrique focuses on spewing as much information out as possible in order to quick zip off towards his work.  Most notably, his accent doesn't impede his speech too much, but he does tend to add in some Spanish interjections, such as "Si" or "Que".  His speech is based off of the performances of Michael Mando from Far Cry 3 and George Lopez.

  • "Andalé, Andrew!  Come on!  If we're going to stop that explosion, we're going to have to run, and I mean run like the wind!"

  • "Que, who- Oh, man, you startled me for a minute!  Ey, amigo, ya mind givin'  me a sec? Just need put these circuits together..."

  • "Ey, Andrew.  Check out the rear end of that baby.  Ayy, mamacita...(wolf whistles) Wha- Andrew, look over here!  I was talking about the car!"

Waylon Parker Jones

Unpaid
Role assigned to: vnchaos

The Security Chief of Sprawl Station, Waylon is a strongman who doesn't back down from any challenge, no matter how big or small it may be.  Although he doesn't possess as much intellect as Dr. Andrew, Waylon makes up for it with his impressive skillset of military knowledge and police training.  His voice tends to have a booming reverb to him, much like in the style of Mr. T or Terry Crews.  The important quality to his voice is his soulful passion, which works best when putting emphasis on certain words such as "foo' " or "powah".  Also, he keeps a suave tone when speaking in a low voice, much like Jaimie Foxx.

  • "Listen up, people!  We're gonna do this operation by the numbers:  I want a clean tactical sweep of the bottom floor, and a command post set in the main hall!  We came here for one job; let's get it done!"

  • "Ain't no shame for being played the foo'; but I pity the foo' who thinks they can play the same game on me."

  • "I'm bringing the pain, the powah, and the pizza in thirty minutes, or it's free!"

The Human Radicals (Extras)
open
Unpaid

A group of fanatics obsessed with sending the MONSTERs back to the UNDERGROUND, the Human Radicals will stop at nothing to make HUMANITY the leading power of the SURFACE.  Mainly comprised of farm boys, ranch farmers, and religous zealots who believe that MONSTERs are a sin on the Earth, the Radicals use unconventional means to terrorize, scare, and brutally massacre the MONSTERs they come across.  Notable historical groups that were based off the idea to create the Human Radicals are The Ku Klux Klan or The Black Panthers.

NOTE: Take note that the accents found in these lines are to help the reader find a way to better portral a member of the Radical.  There is no specific accent being imitated, auditions with other accents for the Human Radicals will be accepted.

  • "Say, aren't you a purty little thang?  Be a shame if we tore ya a new one..."

  • "We don't want to see yer kind 'round these parts.  This is our land, and we ain't sharin' it with freaks like you!"

  • "Aw, hell, them damn machines actin' up again.  Somebody wake up Jem and tell his lazy ass to fixin' them contraptions.  He's the only guy smart enough to fix the dang thang."

Admiral James "The Wolf" Ronson

Role assigned to: brojack

Admiral James Ronson, or nicknamed "The Wolf", is a renowned Great War Veteran who proudly serves as the main commander of the Human Navy Fleet Division, the 109th Suicide Hammerheads.  His main flagship, the HMS Aquitaine, is the pinnacle of both human and monster engineering, as it combines the best of both technologies into one, huge, experimental carrier.  As leading admiral, he commands his crew with a respect that is sure to instill the loyalty of every single crew member.  However, painful memories of the Great War have caused him to be secluded and sometimes doubtful of his superiors, especially the Human Government.  However, he goes through each day with a calm demeanor and a stern look, to show that he means business.

Notable inspirations for the character Admiral James Ronson include Charlton Heston, an actor from the movies Planet of The Apes and Midway, Kiefer Sutherland from 24, Metal Gear Solid, and Pompeii, and Bruce Willis from the Die Hard franchise and The Fifth Element.

  • "Two sides of the same coin; both scarred.  I've had my fair share of wars and conflicts, and all of them weren't pretty."

  • "Crew of the HMS Aquitaine, this is your captain speaking.  At zero-eight-hundred hours, we will begin the assault of the Jotunheim Redoubt.  Our primary objective is to provide fire support for our ground team to infiltrate the base.  As of right now, this is a Code Red Situation.  All pilots report to the flight deck and your assigned craft.  Gunner crews are now placed on immediate standby, all medical facilities should be cleared for incoming wounded.  That is all.  Long live the Alliance."

  • "In all my years of service to the military, I've always known that the Human Government was incompetent as ever.  Andrew, a quick word of advice:  don't trust anything these jackals throw at you.  All they want from you is the secrets you have; after that, you're nothing to them.
