The Night Sky - Animation Short
Project Overview
This is going to be a short, 2-4 minute animation about two young boys staring at the stars and talking about life; it's a short existential piece with pretty low stakes, just a calm conversation between a couple friends. The main point of it is the conversation itself; it's very dialogue heavy.
This is the first of a series of short films I'll be making, so if you audition for a role here you may be offered another later on, whether you get the role for this project or not. It'll be published on Youtube and possibly elsewhere, such as short film festivals, if it qualifies.
I have not begun work on the project, I'll be getting the voice lines done then working with the animator to get all animation and lip-syncing done, then I'll work on audio mixing and editing last.
Audition tips:
- Good, clean audio is a must. If your mic has a slight buzz I can remove that but loud noises in the background are a definite no.
- A lot of people tend to act like they're in a movie, just try and act calm for this one. There are no stakes and the characters are sorta just pondering life, so there's not really a lot of emotion going into each line.
- Any accent is fine, provided it's not thick or too extreme.
- I'm not looking for wacky characters, you're best off using your natural voice.

Thoughtful boy who is very aware of the world and has a great understanding of morals and the workings of society. Strong creative type vibes, feels like a teacher but also a philosopher, despite being barely 17.
[Laying down, looking up at the stars.]
Look up there. There are so many of them, just shining and shining. Supposedly they'll stop someday, but have you ever seen that happen? Have you ever seen a star just take a break?[Saying goodbye to his friend after a deep and meaningful chat, he is still thinking over and pondering the conversation.]
Yeah, I'll see you later George.
Just a regular guy who doesn't try to understand things that don't concern him. Typical high school/college student just trying to pass his classes and go on with his life. Absolutely no ambitions, but not really hopeless, just uncaring of being more than he feels he's capable of, and thinks other people should feel the same.
[very tired and not really paying attention to his friend who's talking to him]
Yeah, whatever Reggie.[Very tired and almost asleep, responding to his friend asking a question without really answering it]

Animator for the entire film. It'll be about 2-4 minutes long with a lot of still shots so it'll likely be on the easier side of projects. Happy with you to use your own art style and everything, provided it goes with the tone of the piece.
The scene is of 2 boys looking up at the night sky and talking to each other, with mostly wide shots and close ups, not a lot of medium shots.
I'll have a shot list and storyboard but you'll have a fair bit of freedom on how most things will look, I'll be working closely with you to ensure that each shot looks the best it can.
