Project Overview
The Neiborhood (No, that’s not a typo!)
The Neiborhood is a Minecraft sitcom created by me and TheAmazingWarp. It’s a project we’ve been passionate about for a while, and after several attempts, and a bit of a hiatus, we’re excited to officially get the series up and running again.
This series is largely improvised and recorded on a modded version of Java Minecraft (1.20.1). If you apply for a role, you’ll need to own Java Edition Minecraft and be able to run a modpack with approximately 150 mods.
Requirements:
Must be 15 years or older
Have a decent-quality microphone
Have and be able to use Discord
Be comfortable with improvisational acting

Even if you aren’t selected for a listed role, we may still reach out, as there’s always room for more help! We’re also accepting applications through a Google Form for general actors and set builders.

Ms. Marleen is the English and homeroom teacher for the main characters. She is somewhere her mid-30s, visibly worn down by life and carries a constant sense of frustration and exhaustion.
She puts minimal effort into teaching, often doing the bare minimum while counting down the minutes until the end of the school day. Marleen typically comes across as detached, unmotivated, and perpetually drained.
However, beneath the burnout and cynicism, there are hints of who she used to be. At some point, Marleen genuinely wanted to be an educator, and that part of her hasn’t completely disappeared. On rare occasions, if she believes it will truly make a difference, she’ll push past her apathy and try to help her students.

Mr. Cucks, whose name is often mistaken as Mr. Clucks, is the high school’s gym coach and P.E. teacher. He appears to have some kind of criminal record, yet is still somehow allowed to teach. Rather than running a normal class, he treats P.E. like an unhinged drill sergeant boot camp.
He frequently makes remarks about nearly every student’s mother and attempts to flirt with any adult woman with a pulse, usually failing miserably.
Mr. Cucks’ personality is a mix of Johnny Bravo and Soldier from TF2. For the voice, we’re looking for something similar to Soldier; a video will be linked as an example of the tone and delivery we’re aiming for.

Professor Mathews is the high school’s history teacher. Once a respected historical scholar, he retired from academia and turned to teaching in order to pass on his knowledge. He’s deeply passionate about history and makes a genuine effort to present it in a way that’s engaging, at least by his standards.
However, his patience wears thin with students who are disinterested or disrespectful. He’s easily irritated and often responds with a cold, dry, and snarky demeanor. Beneath his professionalism, he takes small, quiet satisfaction in subtly messing with the more annoying students.

Gelatin is a scientific genius with expertise across numerous fields and a world-renowned reputation to match. Despite his credentials, he inexplicably teaches at a high school, despite it being below him.
Highly eccentric and obsessively dedicated to his work, Gelatin often becomes so absorbed in his research that he neglects everything else. He shows little concern for the safety or well-being of his students, treating them more like test subjects.
In stark contrast, he is intensely caring and overbearing toward his adopted children, whom he loves unconditionally and protects with unwavering devotion.
Both his voice and personality are inspired by Professor Membrane from Invade Zim; a video will be linked as an example of the tone and delivery we’re aiming for.

Maria the Mugger, yes that’s her full legal name, is a tanuki and a spectacularly pathetic criminal. Raised by a family of career criminal raccoons, Maria (formerly known as Marvin) was always the odd one out. She was emotional, soft-hearted, and somewhat of a pushover, traits her family saw as weaknesses. After her mother’s death, Maria became determined to prove herself by succeeding where she had always failed: committing crimes. Unfortunately, every attempt she makes ends in disaster.
Before her transition, Maria once attempted to rob Darrien and Charlie, and failed miserably. Taking pity on her, Darrien actually tried to help her pull off a successful mugging. When she finally managed it, Maria immediately turned around and tried to mug Darrien himself… which resulted in her getting thoroughly beaten up. Following that humiliation, Maria did some soul-searching and came to two life-changing realizations: she is a woman, and Darrien is now her arch-nemesis for beating her up.
Maria has a raspy, gravelly voice that still sounds somewhat feminine. Her personality is a chaotic mix of determination and insecurity, desperate to prove herself, yet constantly undermined by her own incompetence. Insert NoLastName is a recurring antagonist in the series and is most likely going to play a larger role in a planned spin-off. A powerful mob boss, she is almost always entangled in some kind of illegal operation, operations that Darrien and the rest of the cast inevitably stumble into and unintentionally disrupt.
Insert is a cold, calculating woman who issues threats as casually as conversation, rarely raising her voice yet always commanding fear. Despite her ruthless nature, she holds a quiet respect for those who stand their ground and refuse to back down, viewing them as far more interesting than those who fold under pressure.
