The Mistress Files - Season 2 **Rapid Casting**
Project Overview
**This role is for a Non-Binary Egyptian character, though there is no option to select the accent on CCC. Priority will be given to Egyptian VAs!**
We at Dramatically Dapper are producing an Audio Verse Awards 2020 nominated audio drama called “The Mistress Files.” Season 1 told the story of a young girl becoming The Mistress, travelling the world to collect the people, masters of their fields of study, who would become her Generals, the Four Horsemen. The Mistress rose to become one of the most feared criminal masterminds the world over. But she did not start out that way.
This casting call is for Season 2, where we follow The Mistress and her team as they try to establish a foothold in the world that is theirs for the taking; they just need a little help. And help they will find – but will it cost them later?
We are casting for the role of Khepri, a minor character in the series who appears on Season 2 and beyond; as the character is Egyptian, priority will be given to Egyptian applicants. All roles are in the English language.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer payment for roles at this time. Thank you for your time and your consideration.
PODCAST OVERVIEW
“There's no such thing as true evil in this world. Evil is only defined by which side of the line one stands. Follow the tales of The Mistress, one of the most feared criminal masterminds the world has ever known, and ask yourself: Which side are you on?”
The Mistress Files is a six-episode miniseries, with seasons releasing bi-monthly once a year. The series is produced in an audio drama fashion, with little music unless a part of the setting and soundscapes for the world and environment. The series is written by Alexander Liddel. It is directed and produced by Kathryn Stanley.
Whereas Season 1 cut between the past and the present (the interrogation at O.A.S.I.S. HQ) to tell the story of The Mistress collecting the Horsemen, Season 2 picks up almost right after the last general has been recruited and The Mistress has found her Second in Command, Mr. Six. The story is then told in a linear fashion for the six episodes, with minor time skips between events.

DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is December 11th, 2020. We will notify voice actors who have been cast in roles and send an invitation to join the Dramatically Dapper Discord server.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A warm welcome from Kathryn and Jacob, the owners of Dramatically Dapper, and all the actors in the server, as well as a heartfelt thank you for joining our project. In our server you will get to interact with the other actors on the project, as well as share your works, memes, and receive updates on the project on the actors’ side.
We communicate exclusively through Discord. If you are unfamiliar with this application, you can still audition; however, we strongly, strongly recommend participation through Discord, as there are Dry Reads/Rehearsal Calls before recording deadlines are set to test the scripts for fluidity, pacing, and character chemistry, as well as to ask the Director questions regarding the script and your roles.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU IF YOU ARE CAST
- The most important: have fun. This has been a dream of ours for over a year now, and thanks to the hard work of the actors and production team, it is becoming a reality. We want you to have as much fun performing in this series as we have creating it.
- Second most important: Please communicate. Life can and will get in the way, especially with the way the world is right now. When recording deadlines are set for lines, we expect those to be met. However, if an actor requires an extension to these deadlines it must be communicated to the Audio Producer, Kathryn. We will work with you if scheduling conflicts arise.
- Please submit clean recordings on Blue Snowball mics or better (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we do not mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Please do not add effects to your lines. Thank you.
- Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that is okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you do not want to be featured on the podcast.
- Please submit your recordings as one .wav file to our editor’s email address or the appropriate channel on the Discord, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, we prefer to use Google Drive Links.
- We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we will not ask for anything we cannot work around in edits.
- Lastly, since we are planning on multiple seasons of The Mistress Files, we would like to cast people who will be able to stick with us long-term. We are incredibly proud of the acting troupe we have formed this past year, and when starting a new project, we frequently return to voice actors we have worked with in the past.

Khepri is in their mid 20s, Egyptian, and Non-Binary with They/Them pronouns. They are calm, collected, and to outsiders seem emotionless. Logic and reason lead their life. They are the right-hand to Alabaster Kabal, an information broker to the criminal underworld. They keep all Alabaster’s dealings in order. Through the course of the story, they will grow to have a close friend in one of the Four Horsemen.
(hints of an impressed tone) You certainly have thought of everything.
[This is after meeting their soon-to-be best friend] It was… different. We did not speak much. I did have fun, yes.
[Speaking of a grenade just detonated in a testing room] With that amount of pressure, is it wise to test them inside this room? Despite its size, it is still an enclosed space.
