this will be through the perspective of River(main character) and when they all die, they’re a ghost that find clues on what actually happened, the answer will be written by the detective on a letter because turns out the detective is a psychic and saw every ghost, she ends up putting the letter on a table where the ghosts go to often for updates on any new clues they found(which is how they find the letter). most of the story will be after every death, and, as the name suggests, River dies last(after witnessing every other death) by their own hands. they happen to be the very first body found.
