The Devil She Knew
Project Overview
Hey! This is a casting call for a webseries I've been working on. The Devil She Knew is a short (5-10 minute episodes) 3D animated dramatic web-series I've been animating on my own. It's a dark (but sometimes campy) character-driven story blending supernatural horror, queer romance, and trauma. It follows a trans woman reconnecting with a toxic (and demonic) childhood friend as her life crumbles, exploring their relationship both in the present and in the past.
This is an animation team of just me, so the quality is...well, I'm trying my best lol. It's a passion project I'm making in my parents' house after losing my job, so expectations are on that level.
This gig is for episodes 1-6, but there are another 6 episodes this season and (hopefully) there'll be another season after that. If I actually make money from the show, I'll make sure to increase the pay appropriately, but I definitely can't promise that'll happen.
CONTENT WARNINGS! PLEASE READ BEFORE AUDITIONING:
This role and this series contain heavy content, including:
* Homophobic and transphobic slurs (spoken in-character)
* Violent and predatory behavior (stalking, physical intimidation, graphic violence)
* References to cannibalism
* Gore (on-screen animal consumption, blood, bone-crunching sounds)
* Child abuse and domestic violence (Xan's backstory involves an abusive foster home with white supremacist imagery)
* Racism and far-right imagery (depicted critically, not endorsed)
* Sex work, homelessness, and financial desperation (other characters)
* Suicidal ideation and self-harm references
* Manipulation and emotional abuse
Compensation and Stuff
$200 flat for Episodes 1–6, Paid via PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp upon delivery.
Approximately 1 hour of recording work, ~14 minutes of voiced dialogue. Just raw dialogue recorded in a decent place with a decent mic. No editing required. Multiple takes for lines would be appreciated but isn't required (whatever you can get done in an hour).
And ofc you'll be listed in the (very short) credits.
Deadlines
Auditions close 04/20/2026.
I'll reach out to everyone who's auditioned by 04/22/2026, letting everyone know whether they got it or not, and sending out the script at the same time.
Lines would need to be back around 05/11/2026 (I really wanna finally get this thing out lol).

Casting Call: Xan
The role is for Xanthippe Ashborne: the love interest, retired mercenary, and demon. She's seductive, possessive, casually cruel, and genuinely lonely.

You’ll play Xan as both an adult (28 yo) and as a child (12-14yo). The adult version is Azula, but deeper and breathier. The child version more like Azula, but in both cases with more either a neutral American accent or a California/West Coast accent.

- Context: Xan is flirting with an escort. She's being aggressively charming, leaning in close. “The way you look. The way you smell... (giggle) And now I wanna taste you."
- Context: Xan gets caught in a lie and has to explain herself, but realizes she's in the wrong. “Look, I have better things to do than chase a girl who doesn’t want me…Shit. I’m sorry.
Kid line:
- Context: 13-year-old Xan is caught doing something horrific by her friend, who she's currently very upset with. "Oh, you didn't mean to ruin my life? Cool. Good to know. (sighs) And now this is worse. Much worse."
