The Blue Skies of Milan - A Romeo's Blue Skies fangame
Project Overview
PLOT
Romeo and Alfredo, two friends and chimney sweeps, get on a roof after cleaning a chimney. They have contrasting personalities: Romeo is naïve, optimistic and joyful; Alfredo is calmer and thinks more. However, what they share is hope for the future, and hope in each other. Under the blue skies of Milan, Alfredo gets lost in his thoughts, admiring his friend’s emotional strength… strength that might help him change the world.
GENRE: slice-of-life, amare, bittersweet, with a slight shounen-ai touch
TRIGGER WARNING (note that some of the trigger warnings spoil the actual anime the fangame is based off, so click here to have access to them)
Please note that you have to audition for both parts, since, as per jam rules, only one voice actor is allowed to work on the project. You will be expected to voice both Alfredo and Romeo for the game.
For reference, this Youtube video contains voice excerpts from the anime, pronounced by both characters. You are not expected to imitate them, but they can inspire you. If you need more detail about which character pronounces each line, please consult the google doc version of the casting call.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
All communications will be preferably conducted through Discord (but if you do not have a Discord account, or don’t feel comfortable sharing, they can be conducted through email).
Details about the audition file
The voice actors are expected to be at least eighteen years old.
A good quality microphone, with no noticeable noise or reverb (XLR preferred but not mandatory).
The audio files must be in MP3 or OGG format.
No editing (basic cuts are authorised) and no slating.
Record 1 to 3 takes of each line in ABCABC format. If you choose to record several takes, please include them all in the same audio file.
Name your file “ActorsName_RomeoFanGame” (by “actor’s name”, I intend the one you use as a voice actor, not necessarily your legal name)
Dates
Audition: from June 13, 2025 to July 8, 2025.
Results: between July 8, 2025 and July 10, 2025.
Recording: from July 11, 2025 to July 18, 2025
Possible retakes: From July 18, 2025 to July 20, 2025
Please note that the time frame is VERY TIGHT during O2A2, so please only apply if you are available to commit to it strictly.
QUESTIONS
Q: Is there any preferential casting?
A: In terms of gender, not really, I am interested in your voice and how it sounds! You just have to be able to voice teens/preteens and make them sound distinct.
Q: Are you going to contact each VA who auditioned to let them know their result?
A: It is very unlikely. Nonetheless, if any VA wants to have feedback on their performance, they shouldn’t hesitate: I’d gladly give feedback!
Q: Is the project commercial?
A: The project is not commercial and won’t be open to donations.
Q: What is the workload?
A: It is complicated, considering I haven’t written the script yet, accordingly to O2A2 rules. But in my planification for it, the game contains a lot of narrative portions (much more than my previous O2A2 entries, which were dialogue only), so, honestly, it shouldn’t exceed 150 words.
Q: Is it necessary to have watched Romeo’s Blue Skies to audition?
A: No, it isn’t. What is expected is a good vocal grasp on the characters as they are introduced in this doc, and the general qualities expected from a VA. However note that the game contains spoilers about the anime. Finally, if you did watch it, let me know!
Q: Can I only audition for either Romeo or Alfredo?
A: No, you have to audition for the two characters and will be expected to voice the two of them in the final project. Any audition for only one of the characters won’t be considered.

Voice Actor
Please take note of the fact that you're expected to voice THE TWO CHARACTERS due to jam restrictions. Any audition failing to provide the audition lines for the two of them won't be considered.
ROMEO
Romeo is an energetic 11-yo boy. Even the hard conditions he has to live in Milan don’t seem to have that much of a toll on him. Resilient and optimistic, Romeo always tries to make the best out of every situation. Altruistic and kind, he never hesitates to help anyone in need. That leads him to be a bit naïve, but he has the drive and the personality to touch the people he interacts with. He admires his friend Alfredo’s free spirit and remarkable intelligence, as well as his ideals, which are, to Romeo, a true embodiment of hope.
VOICE TYPE: cheerful, dynamic
ALFREDO
Alfredo, one year older than Romeo, is a young boy who was born to be a leader. Charismatic and confident, he easily gains people’s trust, which he cherishes deeply. He also has high aspirations for a better world: despite his young age, Alfredo is accustomed to philosophy, and a fervent admirer of the Enlightenment movement. He truly feels inspired by his friend Romeo, by his candour, his optimism, and how he always manages to bring the best out of people. He also sees Romeo as the true embodiment of hope.
