(this is mostly a test to see how well this website works) A young wolf loses her pack in a skirmish. She can't remember the name of the rival pack, or why hers was attacked... But all she knows is that she feels a strong pull to her pack, and she knows they're still alive. With the guidance of a mysterious owl, the wolf will go on a journey across North America to find her pack, learning about the true importance of family and self discovery along the way.
Nekoma is a headstrong, tenacious teen, and despite being a little shy, she's not afraid to stand her ground. She has a youthful voice, it cracks often, but it carries strong when needed. In the first chapter, Nekoma is a preteen, fourteen in human years, so her voice shouldn't be too deep.
Mama, Grandma? Mama, Grandma can you hear me?! [ grunts as she stands weakly ] I... I'm hurt! Please tell me you're here!
[ sadly ] You must be wondering why I was in the forest alone, huh? [ speaks in a pondering, thoughtful tone, but her voice is still sorrowful ] I... I don't know who did it, but... I remember someone attacking our pack. A rival, perhaps? I don't know, I think I got amnesia somehow...
[ bursting in frustration and panic ] I CAN'T LOSE ANOTHER FAMILY! [ gradually begins to break down into tears ] Please let me help! At least I'll die alongside you guys... I couldn't live with myself knowing I didn't help.
Tahoma is a rigid, strong leader, with a thick, commanding voice. He believes in the strength not only found in his pack members physically, but in their hearts and minds. He always pushes for greatness and won't stand for anything less. He's had a hard past of death and war, and he worked hard to keep his territory.
What brings you into our territory? [ Nekoma explains herself, then he scoffs ] Liar. You reek of the blood of our kind. You must want trouble.
We don't even know where to look, all we have is the "hope" of a pup who can't accept her family's death. We've wasted enough time here already, the elk are going to start migrating to the hills out of our territory soon.
Because, then me and him would have to battle one on one to see who the proper leader is. It's not that I'm afraid of him, far from it... I just don't want anything to do with him or his pack, and I know that if I were to lose, he'd be an unfit leader and he'd get too power hungry.
Nukpana is a bit of a playboy, but a trustworthy scout. He's light and quick on his feet, but not too quick witted... He has a cocky voice leavened with flattery and a bit of a deceitful tongue.
[ snidely, almost bloodthirsty ] What have we here...? ... I say we tear her apart!
[ in a cautionary tone ] You really don't want that, kid. Bulls are far more dangerous than whatever hares or frogs you were hunting.
[ surprised, almost a bit off-put ] You still pray before you eat? ... Jeeze, kid, I didn't take you as the religious type.
Mina is a tough, fearless huntress who rightfully earned her place as Tahoma's second in command. She's a take-no-shit gal, and won't stand for anyone messing with her loved ones. Her voice is deep and strong, it never cracks and never falters, and those who hear it are quick to obey her every whim - definitely out of fear.
We should go look for her... She might be in trouble! [ after Nekoma returns ] I'll be damned...
[ sighs deeply, annoyed ] Let's hurry up and get it home before a different pack wants to take our food.
Sleeping on the job, dumbass! Didn't Sani tell you to watch Nekoma while he was away?
Sani is a stubborn old fellow, who tells whimsical tales and has a knack for the spirits. He's a fatherly type, and knows a trustworthy souls when he sees one. His voice is warm and calming, but terrifying when he shouts out of rage or scolding.
No need to be afraid, little one. These three are more blood thirsty than the wolves in the south. [ sighs ] But I digress. I am known as Sani, the shaman of our pack. That is Tahoma, the leader, his second in command Mina, and our scout, Nukpana.
[ unimpressed ] Or, we're just being plain rude to a young wolf who needs our help. [ his voice softens to a more understanding tone ] I understand the reasoning behind your distrust and suspicions, Tahoma... But you cannot let it get in the way of your generosity.
I am NOT waiting any longer only to find her dead body in the forest. I'm going to find her.
Tokota is a wicked, scheming wolf who will stop at nothing to steal Tahoma's territory, which is close to the hunting grounds. His voice is velvety, laced with deceit and false promises.
I'll take one of those elks off your hands. ... That's quite the tone you're using, Tahoma, considering you're the one who stole from my territory.
My... Touchy touchy. [ chuckles darkly ] Yes, Tahoma. I will leave your territory without another word, if you give me the bull.
Tahoma! Today, your blood will paint my fur red! [ laughs maniacally ]
