Tech Education - Instructor
Project Overview
We’re a technical education company creating curriculum on technologies like Java, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, .Net, AWS Cloud Technologies and more that are utilized by our enterprise clients. Recently we’ve decided to ramp up the quality of our video content, and that includes hiring voice talent.
Because we’re in education, we’re also looking for one actor to contract longer term to ensure we have a consistent voice for our learners throughout their educational experience. We’re interested in having someone we can contract/commission over the next year that we can ramp up and down to match the needs of our curriculum development team. They’ll also need to sign an NDA, and work under a 1099. We have easily a hundred hours of content in the queue for voice over, so we’ll likely spread that over time as the post-production crew finalizes edits.
We have complex topics and a fair amount of scripts that we need to be read. We’ve already prepared many of the videos already using our subject matter experts to do the initial recording to get the intricacies and cadences of pronunciation of the software developer terms down. I’d be happy to provide those to our voice talent as a reference as well as the script itself. Our average script is around 1500 words, though that does fluctuate depending on the curriculum.

The preferred sound we’re looking for is mid-tone female adult with a Neutral American accent that has little to no regional features. Voice in the style of a teacher, but with more conversational approach rather than lecture. Firm but approachable is how we’ve referred to it before with our in-person instructors. We want to work with a quality professional that is will be a reliable resource for us. Reliability is a huge factor for us. Location does not matter, nor does it need to be an in studio performance. We do however want a high quality recording output in .wav, preferably with an XLR mic if they are using a home environment.

To get started with our task, let's create a class and call it `AquariumFish`. The class itself we will set as `public` so that it can be used, while the attributes we define inside of it will be `private`. That will keep them accessible to the class `AquariumFish`, but not expose them to the main program. This means that we will need to use getters and setters to retrieve them.
To satisfy the first normal form, the table must also have a primary key attribute. Because there is no natural key, like a social security number for a movie, we will add a surrogate key. The most common type of surrogate key is an automatic number. It is typical to name the primary key in the format EntityID, in this case, MovieID.
The ability to quickly create a virtual machine in the cloud is a fundamental skill. It may not be the ultimate solution to hosting an application, but it is a very good first step to getting familiar with creating and manipulating resources in the cloud.
