Tales of Ironroth: The Fate of Shattrath City (Warcraft AU Audiodrama)
Project Overview
Tales of Ironroth: The Fate of Shattrath City will be the 12th Audiodrama in the Tales of Ironroth Audiodrama series, a spin-off of the Machinima/Animation Ironroth.
"An old evil has returned to Outland, driving its people to the brink. As the demonic and fel orc forces besiege Shattrath City, the final major bastion of Light on this broken world, Yrel, a draenei priestess, must wrestle with the challenges of bringing Outland’s disparate peoples together."
It is our longest Audiodrama to date, estimated to be around 4 hours long.
Ironroth is a Warcraft-based Alternate Universe where Garrosh Hellscream is victorious at the Siege of Orgrimmar. So far the series counts 3 completed episodes of Ironroth, and 9 completed Audiodramas of Tales of Ironroth.

(furious) Traitor! Twisted slave of Sargeras! Are you Exarch Othaar?! Answer me, man’ari!
(startled, scrambling for words) My Prophet! I apologize; I meant no disrespect! I didn’t… I, uh…
(reciting a prayer, quietly, but confidently) Let the day come when none need fear. For that day, I give my life gladly.
Primary Narrator for the Audiodrama, serves as the Yrel/General POV.

Spurred to action by her words, the worshippers ran outside. Yrel glanced back, towards the exit. There was an arakkoa standing there, gaping in awe at her, joined by an unusually large beautiful kaliri bird. She recognized him, though they hadn’t spoken much. He had bluntly refused Yrel’s invitation to join her in the temple, shooing her away. He was a storyteller of his people, an elder who constantly carried a collection of scrolls on his back. The arakkoa awkwardly scrambled out of the way of the onrushing worshippers. All the while, he tried to shout over the chaos. It seems that he had come to deliver a grave warning, only to be halted in his tracks by the sight of the collapsing ceiling.
With a furious shout, Wolfbrother smashed the transmitter with his axe. He walked away without a word, quickly followed by his son. Yrel watched them leave, leaning on her hammer and pondering what she had heard. Magtheridon and Wolfbrother were both names that she was familiar with: the deposed lord of Outland and the legendary chieftain of the Thunderlord orcs. Leena approached her soon afterwards, reminding Yrel of the more pressing concerns at hand.
The final part of her prayer weighed upon her the most. For the past two years, the day when none need fear seemed to drift further and further away. And yet, as she saw it, the Sha’tar could bring about that day very, very soon. After all, Shattrath City now housed one of the largest forces this world had ever seen. Ever since its reconstruction began decades ago, the city had always kept its gates open to refugees. Now, as the fel orcs rampaged across Outland, more and more flooded into Shattrath.
The aged fel orc chieftain of the Thunderlord clan, forced to come to terms with a life full of regrets. A very blunt and direct individual.

(furiously) What would you know of honour?! Do you think to lecture me, like my father?!
(regretful) No. That was my own choice. My own attempt at being young again. Every time I have been young, I have damned those around me. Even indirectly, perhaps. I may have doomed my former family as well, by not standing alongside them when it mattered most.
(melancholic, bluntly) You are a draenei. I am an orc. To be old does not mean the same thing for your people, as it does for mine.
Elderly storyteller of the arakkoa, a cranky and suspicious individual who does not trust easily. In his heart, he cares deeply for his people’s safety and the preservation of their history.
Note: the arakkoa are bird-people who often include caws and other similar noises in their speech.

(hostile) Come to gawk at us, have you? Come to tell us of your precious Light and how the very magics that saved your life will actually damn us in the end?
(frightened) They undoubtedly have more, and the demon orcs will keep coming. We must escape!
(awkward, pensive) Well… that might not be an issue anymore. Their dark master has called them to the world beyond the Great Portal. I know not for what purpose.
A slightly-manic man’ari eredar sorcerer, who once betrayed his people, the draenei, for greater power. A highly sadistic person and a sore loser who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

(furiously, increasingly frantic and mad) Do you think I can be stopped?! Do you think any of you can thwart me again?! No matter what you do today, I shall deliver this world before the throne of Sargeras! I shall stand at his side and watch as the universe burns!
(hesitant, begging for his life after being wounded) Y-yes, my most mighty lord! Wisest and most cunning of all the Legion’s-
(sighs, taunting sarcastically) I was hoping to do that after killing all of you, yes. Woe is me, my plan has been revealed! Ah, well. Let me test out the upgrades that the daughter of that fool, Hataaru, has given these vigilants…
De facto leader of the arakkoa of Shattrath City, a pious and caring individual who wants to strengthen the bonds between his people and the other inhabitants of the city.

(shouting) Reshad, please! Do not speak this way when we do require their aid! (friendlier) I apologise; it is good to see you, Yrel, Leena.
(embarrassed) I have never met a draenei who understood our tongue.
(sincerely) May the Light be with you.
Dutiful night elf Warden, member of an ancient order of jailors, and a skilled combatant, specialised in rapid hit-and-run strikes. She is a direct, no-nonsense soldier, sent by the leader of her order to aid in the defence of Shattrath City.

(business-like) Thank you, A’dal. My name is Cordana of the Watchers. Our mistress, Lady Maiev Shadowsong, has heard that Shattrath City requires aid, and has sent us to assist in any way we can.
(surprised, then friendly) Truly? You seemed to be very experienced in wielding that hammer. My people’s clergy, the priestesses of the moon, are trained to fight with a war glaive. My mistress also belonged to that order in the past.
(sarcrastic, then matter-of-factly) So much for the element of surprise… Yrel, can you reveal the hidden ones again?
An elderly, blind draenei priest, founder of the Omenaai order, and Yrel’s teacher. A gentle and patient individual, who is nevertheless willing to discipline his student, and who will not hesitate to take desperate actions, if necessary.

(empathetic) There are many, many paths to righteousness, young one. The stubborn close their mind and convince themselves of one truth. The wise keep an open mind to the different possibilities leading to and stemming from the present. That is why I have come here as well. I would like to take you on as my apprentice.
(frantic) Vindicators, man the defences! Everyone else, outside, quickly! Yrel, join me when you can!
(bemused) Hiding things from me again, I see, my apprentice.
A draenei shaman and archer, who was raised by an orc, and, as such, her speech and mannerisms are more like an orc than a draenei. An outspoken and kind individual, who will not hesitate to defend her friends or the people of Shattrath.

(friendly) Well, we always take the time to visit every other community. Even the ogres! (chuckles) I was just thinking that they might need healing too. It is not just that they be deprived of our aid.
(determined) What are you talking about? I’m coming with you!
(stumbling over her words a little) That was just like the stories of heroic paladins! You, you saved Shattrath City!
Serves as the Narrator for the Pitlord Magtheridon POV.

Magtheridon knew that Kruul would not attempt anything. When the two had been sent back to Outland, their master had given very clear instructions, that Magtheridon would be the uncontested lord of this world. The Legion did not usually police usurpation; in fact, it thrived on it. But in this particular case, the master had felt that only Magtheridon could carry out his orders, a secret command that not even Kruul was privy to. Fortunately, the doom lord was unaware of how little progress the pit lord had made in fulfilling this command.
As soon as the eredar was brought in and released by the guards, he prostrated himself before the pit lord’s throne. At least, Magtheridon assumed that was his intention. Socrethar’s legs were horrendously twisted and broken, marred by wounds that reached down to the bone in many places. It was entirely possible that the eredar had simply collapsed.
There was one who tried to contest the warchief’s rule, but he found himself beaten and exiled. That one was allowed to flee and hide, like the wounded animal that he was. His flight was subtly guided by his pursuers, to ensure that he would not seek the safety of Shattrath City. Not yet. When Magtheridon’s forces were consolidated, the dog would be flushed out of hiding, and led in the direction of the draenei stronghold – the last bastion of safety that would be available to him.
The naaru leader of Shattrath City, an angelic being of Light. He projects an aura of peace and is kind and caring to a fault, but is wary of a dark destiny he foresaw.

(serenely, warmly) Welcome, child. Thank you all for coming. We will be with you in a moment.
(serenely, concerned) You are safe now, Farseer Kurkush of The Lightning Sons. Tell us what has happened.
(serenely, but he’s uneasy) Easy, child. I do believe you. Though the fighting is heavy to the north, I will call for reinforcements to be sent to the eastern wall.

(annoyed) Are you asking me to do your dirty work, pit lord?
(demanding) Kil’jaeden is not interested in excuses, pit lord. You focus your search too much on the Betrayer. The Sargerite Keystone is what is most important. The fact that it has been stolen cannot be abided. Have you uncovered anything else?
The ferocious cannibal chieftain of the Bonechewer clan of fel orcs. A crazed and manic individual, who delights on causing pain and suffering and on feasting on his still-living opponents.

(gloating) I’ve been looking forward to this for decades, little hunter. I have wanted to rip off your limbs and devour your flesh ever since we ventured to that accursed tomb on Azeroth! Too bad you ran away before I could finish the job last time! (laughs madly) Do you know what your arm tasted like, little hunter? Fear! Weakness! I would have thought someone as famed as you would sate me more!
(laughing, shouting) Come, draenei! It has been too long since I have cracked open your bones and feasted on your innards! The Fel Horde has come for your guts! (laughs maniacally)

(contemplative) Easier said than done. I have to admit it is an impressive mechanism. Even after all of these years, we have been unable to secure a meaningful breach. Our weaponry, as much as I hate to admit it, is simply inadequate.
(increasingly furious) I fail to understand why you were reinstated after your failings! First, you lose Outland, delaying the master’s plan to assail Azeroth! Then, you manage to get yourself taken captive, bolstering the forces of the Betrayer! And now, instead of leading our most important siege, the culmination of a campaign borne of your past failures, you indolently languish in this forsaken place!
The dying sister of Yrel, a draenei afflicted by the Red Mist, a deadly weapon that, among other symptoms, causes degradation of the mind.
