Project Overview

Hello everyone, I am the Storm Sorcerer and welcome to this casting call page for Super Mario Bros Z the reboot voice dub.

As many people already know, Super Mario Bros Z is back and stronger than ever. After watching the first episode, I was super excited. However I thought it lacked something to make it more amazing. That's right voices.

For those who don't know, Super Mario Bros Z was a fan-made sprite animated web series that was released on Newgrounds WAY back in 2006 and eventually made it's way on to Youtube and many other websites. For many reasons, the creator: Mark Haynes (more commonly known as Alvin Earthworm) canceled it many years ago. But now, he decided the series should be rebooted and now it's finally out.

So here's how it's gonna work for the auditions. So far, only episode 1 as been released, so I will only list the characters that are to appear in that episode only. EXCEPT for the main cast of characters. Those who are not in episode 1 will also be here because they are really important the franchised and I want them cast right away. I will post future audition as the episodes are realeased. The only charater that will not have an audition is Mecha Sonic (or Metalix) because I will be voicing him myself.

  • 1st OFFICIAL results

    Heya there smbz fans! So as you've probably already figured out, the deadline as reached it's terminus. So now it's time I officially select the cast for this fan dub.

    There is just one other thing I need to mentionned. Not ALL the roles will be filled up right away. Some of them I am already convinced will be part of the cast, but for other roles I remain uncertain. So for the time being, I will cast most of the roles now, but I will leave some of them open for auditions until I find the perfect candidate. Don't get me wrong, all of your auditions were really entertaining to listen (some roles killed me to choose just one) and the reason some roles will remain avaible isn't because their current auditions were bad, it's just a me problem of being uncertain of which one to choose.

    For side characters, this spot will always be opened, only updated. There will always be rooms for side characters throughout the series.

    Other than, congratulations for the ones who were casted and good luck for the others!

  • Deadline Extension

    Hi there, just posting one little update.

    First of all, as mentionned in the title, the deadline will be extended to give more time for those who haven't participated yet to give this casting a shot.

    Also, I will be adding more characters to audition for: Professor E.Gadd, Stuffwell and Dr Eggman. Since these three characters are pretty garantied to be in the reboot I will post there auditions at this very moment. Feel to try these out even if you already auditionned for the other characters.

    The new deadline will be on June 17. That gives me enough time to finish my schoolwork and also give me more time to work on the project on my free time. It also gives you more time to audition.

The good old nutty scientist. I want you guys to give a old/cracky voice, but still sound intelligent in what you say. He's still pretty smart even though most of his ideas are pretty insane.

Keep in mind that E. Gadd only appears during episode 8 of the original script. So you might not get a lot of work early on.

Rawk Hawk is a new addition to this reboot, and I'm pretty sure that the creator intended Rawk Hawk to be like Hercule Satan from Dragon Ball Z. So we'll stick to that for the voice. Give me your best Hercule impression XD

Stuffwell, the companion briefcase. So there are many different interpretation of this guy throughout the fanmade community. On my part, Stuffwell is a very well-mannered, polite and optimistic breifcase. 
Give him kind of the butler-like tone of voice. A british accent would be very amusing but it's totally not manditory.

Like E. Gadd, Stuffwell appears quite late in the show.

Kamek is a pretty important character, being the right hand man of Bowser and all. I want his voice to be reminecent of his voice effects in game. Cackely but not to much, you still have to sound intimadating when you have to.

Expect to have a lot of lines for this role. After all, Bowser is one of the main vilains of the series. I want you guys to give him a little monster feel in your voice. I don't want him to sound 100% human. I leave the rest to your imagination. Suprise me! XD

For Shadow it's fairly easy. I would like you to do an impression of rather is Sonic Adventure Voice or Shadow the Hedgehog voice. It's pretty easy to understand, if not, look it up.

He has no lines in episode 1 but will get many MANY more since he's one of the main heroes.

  • Hmmmph. Very well. If I must? The Chaos Emeralds are mystical gemstones of unknown origin and unlimited power. They have existed for genrations, and are linked to many ancient races. Alone they can be used power machinery and unlock special abilities for those who are able to harnest their power. But if someone manages to collect all 7 emeralds, the user will gain ultimate power, and will be unstoppable!!!

  • *sigh* I'm getting sick of doing things his way....(refering to Sonic)

It's Eggman.......it's pretty obvious how I want you guys to interprete him. XD

For those who don't know. The anime Sonic X has the exact Eggman voice I need, so you could easily look it up for insparation.

Eggman, of course, appears quite late in the show as well.
