Summer, 1999
Project Overview
In the summer of 1999, sixteen-year-old Nate and his friends attempt to shoot an ambitious indie horror film in the Oregon woods on a cheap VHS camcorder. The recruitment of classmate Claire sparks a subtle romance with Nate and shifts the group dynamic. As the summer progresses, the realities of growing up and taking on part-time jobs threaten to derail the production, forcing the teens to adapt their movie—and their friendships—before the season ends.
Warm, observant, and quietly confident. She isn't the loudest person in the room, but she has an easy sense of humor and a natural presence that puts people at ease. Smart without trying to prove it, she gradually becomes the emotional center of the group. Looking for an actress who can convey subtle emotion with small expressions and understated delivery rather than big dramatic moments.
CLAIRE You know most people don't rewrite their whole movie because somebody's hair looks different.
CLAIRE : You should put this in the movie. NATE : What? CLAIRE :This. The waiting. The talking. The stupid stuff. NATE: That's not the movie. CLAIRE: Maybe it is.
