Pilot Episode Title: Extinction ClockFormat: 2D Animated Series Genre: Sci fi Comedy with Dark Humor Elements
Overview:
Extinction Clock is an animated pilot episode for Stupidly Smart Roommates that blends comedy, chaos, and high stakes. It follows two roommates whose clashing personalities drag them into a time travel disaster. One is a brilliant but reckless scientist and the other is his short tempered best friend who never asked to be a test subject. Their constant arguing turns into survival when a busted machine leaves them trapped in the past with only days to spare before a world ending asteroid wipes everything out.
Episode Synopsis:
The story begins in a small messy apartment where Alex, a 23 year old British genius with a teal lab coat and a quiet confidence, tinkers with strange machinery. His roommate Jake, a 22 year old loudmouthed skeptic with curly blond hair and glasses, barges in furious about wasted rent money. What Jake thinks is just another useless appliance turns out to be a fully functioning time machine built from scrap metal, a broken microwave, and a suspiciously stolen glass door.
Against his better judgment, Jake joins Alex inside the machine. Their journey quickly spirals out of control. From nearly being burned at the stake in Viking age Europe, to awkward encounters with cavemen who barely know how to use rocks, the pair stumble through history while constantly bickering. Things take a darker turn when a broken watch and a destroyed control panel strand them 60 million years in the past, only four days before the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.
As their friendship unravels, prehistoric forests, raptors, and an awakening Tyrannosaurus Rex close in around them. With no way home, Alex’s hidden brilliance and Jake’s clumsy determination may be their only chance to survive the countdown to extinction.
Tone and Style:
The episode mixes sharp comedic dialogue with cinematic tension. Think rapid fire arguments, slapstick destruction, and sudden tonal shifts when the danger becomes real. Despite the humor, the episode carries a sense of urgency as the “extinction clock” ticks down toward a cataclysm.
Characters:
Alex: A young Black British scientist in his early twenties. He hides his incredible intelligence under a calm demeanor, but his eccentric projects constantly cause trouble. Wears a teal or white lab coat and sports a small afro.
Jake: A grumpy but energetic roommate with curly blond hair, glasses, and a tendency to overreact. He loves to act tough but often makes situations worse. His skepticism clashes with Alex’s genius.
Rugath and Rugan: Two comedic Viking villagers. Rugath is a loud, slow witted brute with a booming voice. Rugan is his quicker thinking but equally excitable companion.
Background Extras: Townsfolk, cavemen, and other prehistoric voices.

The role being a lead role depends on how well your animation is. Since this is an unpaid job, you do not have to have a large portfolio. However, I will need to see a few animations/art you've created recently and are proud of.
Remember, I unfortunatly cannot pay any of you since I dont have any money. The role was set as unpaid, but if the project does well, I might earn enough to pay you. it just depends whether I can get to it or not.
*Say something you think would fit*
This project is not like any other online project. This is an indie project. Meaning you have the freedom to add goofy little custom demo and script lines. Most of this isn't really serious at all. Go crazy!
Background Lore: The character Alex is depicted as an extremely gifted and intelligent 23 year old young adult male. He is a black British man that had to move to America at the age of 6 when his father got into an argument about their child(Alex)'s safety which led his dad to get a divorce with his abusive mother.
Software Needed: No specific software is required. But, please make sure your mic is clear. Background noise is sometimes annoying to get rid of, so please go easy on the editors.
NOTE: I had no idea what to put in the custom audition lines so I just threw in a bunch of fun facts I found off google. have fun if u want lol
One more thing, you must be willing to swear.
And that's about all! Audition if you like, and have an awesome day! :D
