'Stolen', by Lucy Christopher, is a letter from a captive to her captor. The story documents Gemma's fight for survival and the lengths an obsessive person is willing to go to protect the object of their obsession.

Gemma is a young girl from England on a trip to Vietman with her parents when she is stolen away by Ty, a man tormented by circumstance and by an obsession with Gemma. Trapped in the Australian outback, Gemma is forced to use her tenacity and wits to survive and try to escape.

Gemma's best friend who acts as a voice of strength during her ordeal. Anna is in a relationship with Ben, knowing that Gemma also had feelings for him. She has a medium/high, soft voice

Gemma is a tenacious feisty girl from London, who documents her captivity in the Australian outback through a letter to the man who kidnapped her, Ty. She tends to act in an aggressive manner in her attempts to escape but is able to look at her ordeal as an experience.

I hated you for everything; for making me feel so helpless everywhere I went, for making me lose control. You'd kidnapped me, put my life in danger...but I loved you too. Or thought I did. None of it made sense. Let's face it, you did steal me. But you saved my life too. I can never get it out of my mind. And I can't get you out of there; you're stuck in my brain like my own blood vessels
I suppose it made me feel grown up, sitting there with the most handsome man in the cafe, drinking a coffee he had just brought me. Maybe I didn't look all that young really. Maybe you just looked old for your age. You kept feeding me chocolates. That rich, dark taste...always in my mouth, clinging to my teeth. Before you, I loved chocolate. Now, even the smell of it makes me sick.
Do you know what Stockholm Syndrome is? It's where a victim emotionally bonds with their abuser. It may be a survival mechanism, so that you feel safer with your captor when you are getting along, for instance, or it may happen if you start to feel sorry for your abuser. Perhaps he's been wronged at some point in his life and you want to make it up to him...or perhaps he makes you feel special...loved.
Ben is one of Gemma's best friends, who she developed feelings for before he became the boyfriend of her best friend Anna. He has a low voice.
(Laughing) Fucking hell Gem, you put that back any faster you'll be paralytic.
Josh is stalker number two who had a crush on Gemma in spite of the fact that she was clearly not interested.
I can't. I can't leave you alone Gemma because I don't want to. Plain and simple.
Ty has a rough voice, with an accent that seems to be a mixture of English and Australian.
I want freedom. You don't get freedom from your parents' lives, you just get fucked. I saw things you didn't see, remember? I heard conversations you never heard.
I've watched you for a long time. I was curious, nothing more. It was just, you were like me, when I was young...you never seemed to fit in. Can't you remember me being there, ever? Gem, I know you, I've seen you everyday.
(Joking) Of course, I forgot, I haven't chopped off your legs yet.
They have him, Gemma. He turned himself in at the hospital. The police will need a statement from you soon.
You have to. It's the best thing. Once you've given your statement, the police can charge him. We'll be one step closer to getting that monster locked up. And that is what you want, isn't it?
He must be mad. How can he even think to plead not guilty? The police think he will say that you came of your own will; that you wanted to join him.
