Stitched Together: A Graphic Novel on the Internet

Stitched Together: A Graphic Novel on the Internet

Project Overview

Stitched Together is a graphic novel about broken person named Ricker, slowly piecing himself back together again. This is a story I've been working on since I was a teenager, as such, it's gone through the wringer when it comes to premise. Now that I've finally figured out what kind of story I want to tell AND having written the rough for the first chapter, I wanted to make this Casting Call page to try and find people willing to help me bring this project to life. Stitched Together is a story told in 3 parts, each part containing 7 chapters. I know that sounds like a lot (and in practice it is), but rest assured I'll do everything I can to see Stitched Together through to the end. Please provide examples of your work when applying for a role.

Below is some of the concept art I've done for some of the characters in Stitched Together, most of which is for Part 1 for reasons I hope are obvious. Some of these pieces are a bit dated but are otherwise finalized...except for Dodeca, I need to work on him.

I've contemplated making this an animated series, but I know nothing of animation and the world needs more graphic novels.

The project says unpaid, but I am willing to pay people who want to be paid. It depends on you though since everyone's got a different price.

Update: 08/14/25

Okay wow, I wasn't expecting this to actually get much attention. I'm grateful that everyone who's made a submission so far has done so, I'm currently working on a Discord Server for us all to work in so if I've contacted anyone in the past month, expect an invite...eventually (I'm a slow worker). Anyway, that's not the important thing I wanted to say. What I wanted to say is that, come August 31, the co-writer, editor and additional artists roles will be removed at some point this month. This is because I think I've got enough submissions from people who seem more than qualified for the job. Although I'm a bit suspicious of this one person who seems to have made their account 2 days ago who submited an entire comic for me to look through in regards to writing, sorry if you are a real person, paranoia is a neccessity on the internet, especially nowadays. Regardless, I've extended the deadline to October 1st in hopes that people will apply for the remaining roles. Thank you all for taking an interest in Stitched Together! Here's hoping I get to you all soon!

While I do have a general idea on how the story is going to play out, I need another writer (or 2) to help me figure out exactly what happens in the story. You and I are gonna be talking to each other a LOT as the writing is THE most important thing in Stitched Together…apart from the art of course. Generally, I’m looking for someone who’s had past experience writing comics and character interactions before, someone who won’t hesitate to butt heads with me if it means improving the story in the long run. Luckily for you, I’m open to suggestions. Your past experience does not need to be professional, you just need to have experience. Bonus points if you’ve had past experience writing characters with mental health issues in a respectful manner.

Simply put, my grammar is awful and my punctuation is even worse. I don’t really need to explain this one but I will. Your job, as an editor, is to edit the script for Stitched Together. Trimming the fat and correcting mistakes whenever they crop up. I do have a friend that edits when he can, but he lives in the Philippines…as in, the other side of the planet…yeah… (Also some mistakes are intentional, there is one line that is written as though it’s one sentence because the character SAYS it as though it’s one sentence, you will have to ask me if and when things like that are intentional.)

I have the main character’s designs figured out, but there are characters that appear in Stitched Together that either don’t have a design, or only have a rough idea of their design. This is where you come in. The role is self-explanatory, I give you the character and we go back and forth until we get a design that works for the character. I would say you need to have Clip Studio Paint for this role, but honestly? I’m not sure it’s necessary.

I think a better term would be “Comic Layout Designer” but “Storyboard Artist” is less of a mouthful and makes more sense. Your role is to assist me (Nesyak) in creating/designing the pages of Stitched Together, figuring out what perspective best suits the scene, what poses the characters should have, where text bubbles should be placed, etcetera, etcetera. You must have Clip Studio Paint in order to apply for this role as it’s what I use to make my art, and we’ll be able to share our art files this way, win-win I think. Also, you may consider this cheating, but I do plan to use CSP’s 3d models when story boarding, it makes getting the right perspective easier you know? I’ve even made custom models for some of the characters! They aren’t much, but they’ll help.

Once the Storyboards are done and the characters have been drawn in, we need someone to make the backgrounds. Now, I’m AWFUL at backgrounds, but I do have an idea on what areas should look like…I just need someone who’s better than me at backgrounds to draw them. You will need to have Clip Studio Paint if you want to apply for this role as, this way, I can send you the raw .csp file for you to draw on. It’ll make the process a whole lot easier for everyone this way I promise.

When I say “Additional Artists”, I just mean artists that can fill in for me when I’m unable to draw for whatever reason. Basically, you’ll be drawing in MY style, asking me if it’s okay, and going from there. I hope I don’t HAVE to ask this of other artists, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Although I may need to ask you to draw promotional art or something every now and then, it depends on how Stitched Together is coming along. You will need Clip Studio Paint in order to apply for this role as it’s the program I use, meaning I can just send you the .csp file for you to work with.
