Steven Universe: Monument - The Minecraft Musical
Project Overview
Steven Universe: Monument is a fan-made Minecraft musical movie set in the future world of Steven Universe, expanding the story with a new generation of characters. Created with original songs and designed for a YouTube release, the film follows Reggie, a 15-year-old raised in a futuristic city with no knowledge of their true heritage. Believing their parent, a book-writer musician, died shortly after their birth, Reggie sets off with 2 friends to the nearly-abandoned Beach City. There, they uncover the truth about their family, the legacy of the Crystal Gems, and a mysterious portal that could change everything. With the original Crystal Gems secretly acting as Reggie’s guardians and a new villain connected to the Diamonds threatening everyone Reggie loves, Reggie must confront identity, purpose, and the power of legacy in a story about growth, grief, and forging your own path. Monument blends emotional storytelling, engaging characters both new and old, and a fully original pop/rock/musical inspired soundtrack into a heartfelt fan tribute to Steven Universe!
It's important to know that this won't be the last CCC, we also need to get many ensembles and even a few more leads, though by auditioning now you can gain access to the discord and move on the part 2 of auditions for these characters faster and even audition for characters before they've even been put on CCC later on!!!

Reggie is an (ANY GENDER) character still trying to figure out their place in the world. They never knew their father after he supposedly passed a week after Reggie was born, the only connection they still have are the books their father wrote. Reggie has lived their whole life in relative luxury with the world not even knowing gems exist! Reggie doesn't know yet either due to them not having a gem. On Reggie's 15th birthday they feel the desire to find out who they are like their father did in all the books he had written. To do this they go to the one place they can think of, Beach City!
Reggie doesn't need to sound like Steven Universe but it would be good if they have a slight timbre in their voice, ESPECIALLY if you can maintain that WHILE singing!

[Snapping out of a trance, slightly hushed] Huh- Oh, shit. Sorry Fern. Uhh- what's up?
[Looking up at a statue of Steven Universe] (Sigh) Hey dad, what's going on?... cool, cool, yeah. I'm good, just talking to a... statue.
[Confident, Ready to Battle] Who are we? We're the Crystal Gems, and we're here to Rock. Your. Shit!
Fern is one of Reggie's best friends! They are (ANY GENDER) and have a medium-high voice range. Fern is a happy-go-lucky, go with the flow, kind heart who would give up everything to save their best friend. They love singing and dancing and often live on the bright side of life. The most important thing to them is their friends and they are ride or die! They have a romance with Jam throughout the show and work as a moral, head-strong aspect of the team.
Fern has that slightly higher pitch but it's important not to go TOO high. We still want them to sound like real people! Their voice should portray hints of that optimism that is important to their character!

[Almost begrudgingly, though still playful] ...Im still not sure this makes up for everything, (They kiss Jam on the cheek) but it's a start.
[In Awe] Wait! So you're telling me there's a scientific reason everyone breaks into song here?!... I love this place!
Jam is the level-headedness of the three friends! They are an (ANY GENDER) teen who tries to prioritize rationality over all. They are often out-voted by the other 2 due to them being not nearly level-headed as Jam! They have a low - medium voice type that's slightly more monotone than the other two. Little pauses and such work wonders for this character as its important to show that they are trying to think of the "Best" response and outcome from all scenarios.
Jam's singing voice is a little more "Bass-y" than the others. Other than that this character is really malleable to suit how you choose to portray it!

[Trying to sound reasonable] Look, Reg. I'm not saying we shouldn't go! But shouldn't we think about this, at least?
[Looking up, caught off guard] Me? Oh- Uhh. No, I don't- I don't sing. [...] No, I just don't care for it is all.
[Sung-Talk] You always said I was too quiet, that the world was too loud to wait. But maybe I just didn't want to sing, till the song felt worth the stage.
Nado (Black Diamond) Is a female presenting Gem made to be the first completely artificial diamond made from a lower gem life form. Years spent in the isolation of a land, far far away had caused Nado to go near insane. Nado is someone whos mood changes on a whim. It's important you can capture that dynamic, being able to swap from loud and violent to soft and apologetic.

This is the SAME Garnet from Steven Universe! To me, the most important thing is the voice! If you can get the voice down, you've most likely gotten the part!

[Proud, almost recited from memory] We! are the Crystal Gems! And you shouldn't be here young- young man.
[Concerned for safety] Reggie! You need to run back to town! This isn't safe for you!
This is the SAME pearl from Steven Universe. Once again, the voice and mannerisms are SO important to get this role, for Pearl, more so than Garnet as Pearl has many more mannerisms and they are all more noticeable.

[Try and do some general pearl exclamations]
Like the other Crystal Gems, we need Amethyst's ICONIC voice. The medium gravel is vital to getting this role. Being able to sing and talk with that gravitas is a near-necessity!
