Spyro Fanfiction Dramatic Reading (Casting for Major roles)
Project Overview
This project is a dramatic reading of my Legend of Spyro fanfiction: The Legacy of Spyro. This story is available to read for free on fanfiction.net and is currently still being written.
This is a long-term project, with a new audio recording releasing with each new chapter. I plan to be finished with the story by the end of 2021, so if you audition, please be able to provide voices until then. I do understand that emergencies may take you away, and as such, I do ask that you have good communication with me and the rest of the cast.
About The Legacy of Spyro
A century has passed since The Cleansing, and the Realms have enjoyed peace and prosperity in that time. When a strange illness strikes the dragons of Warfang, Spyro must prepare the next generation of heroes to determine the cause and put an end to it before it's too late.
The Legacy of Spyro follows a group of 3 young dragons that are sent into the world to find the cause of a mysterious disease caused by a strange smoke, the origin of skeletal dragons called "Embers," and the identity of "The Ashen One."
I ask that if you are interested in auditioning for a role, please read what is currently available of the story before doing so. This should give you some idea and guidance on what the characters are like, and how canon characters have changed.
I also ask that you have good microphone quality (no room noise, cracking, audible breathing, etc.) and passion for the Spyro franchise and preferably The Legend of Spyro trilogy. This is an ongoing, long-term project for no pay, to be posted on my YouTube channel.
Auditions will run until December 1st, and roles will be chosen by December 8th. Please have Discord for ease of communication, as a server will be created specifically for this project.
Thank you for your time and effort, and I can't wait to hear your auditions!

Hey all, I have pushed the deadline to audition back one week, to December 8th. I will also be making small edits to the descriptions for each character to include what I'm looking for in their voices (especially for the main cast). To those who have already auditioned, thank you! I will be making casting decisions after the deadline.
Glimmer is a young dragon, roughly the age that Spyro and Cynder were in The Eternal Night. She doesn't talk much at first but will open up and have more lines as time goes on.
[Frustrated, angry] "Alright, you jerk! Knock it off before I make you!"
[Confused, curious] "So, I can look into the water and see...what, exactly?"
Flare is your classic Red-Oni archetype: hot-headed, impulsive, rambunxious. He is good friends with Cygnus, and will act out in order to take the heat off of him. His voice should illicit both the class clown and the caring older brother.
[Mocking, arrogant] "What are you gonna do, huh? The great Flare can never be stopped!"
[Annoyed] "You're wasting your breath, popsicle, he can't hear you."
[Concerned] "Calm down, buddy. Take a deep breath, and tell us what you saw."
Cygnus fits within the Blue-Oni archetype, with some minor adjustments. He is calculating and logic-driven, whilst also being a bundle of anxiety. He is jumpy and doubts himself at the start.
[Rushed but polite] "Master Cygnus, I appreciate the time spent here but-" (this line is interrupted)
[Scared, nervous] (this line is preceded by a frightened yelp) "I didn't think you wanted to have another person along, but I wanted to know where you were going. I don't really know any of the dragons that were showing up, and I don't like crowds anyways. I hope it's okay!"
[Terrified] "The smoke! The smoke isn't real! It's magic!"
Spyro is much older here than he was in the games. His voice would be closer to Gary Oldman's, if not a bit higher pitched. It is evident that a century of adventures after The Cleansing has aged him.
[Firm, curious] "Is something the matter in the city? The Commander knows how Cynder feels about his offer. He wouldn't send for her again unless there was trouble."
[Reassuring] "Of course! I had front row seats to the end of the world! Things like that stick with you."
[Explaining, somber] "Places, dragons, histories - some dragons can even see things that haven't happened yet. It took me years to understand it, and even now I couldn't call myself a master at divination."
Cynder acts as a mentor to Glimmer throughout the story, being motherly and helpful when she can. She dies early in the story, so follows the group as a spirit.
[Happy] "I guess you're right. After all, we're retired. Plus, I heard that some of the moles built a new fountain plaza. Elora says it's beautiful at night!"
[Serious] "Whatever this is, it's not normal."
[Calm, as though you've reconciled with your own death] "When a dragon dies, they do not truly leave this world. Their spirit lives on, binding itself with nature, offering hope for the future."
Ignitus was the Guardian of Fire as well as a mentor and father figure to Spyro in his past life. After the events of Dawn of the Dragon, he takes on the role of Chronicler, now being a hands-off observer. He is voiced by Gary Oldman in the games, but you don't have to be a soundalike to audition.
[Reassuring] "Do not be afraid, Cynder. When a dragon dies, they do not truly leave this world. Their spirit lives on, binding itself with nature, offering hope for the future."
(Reenact any two lines from the games, your choice.)
Cyrus is old, and as such he tends to be the one that Spyro sends troublesome kids to for detention.
[Exasperated] "What do you think? It's not exactly a conducive environment for reflection and study, now is it! Please, help me put these blasted papers away before hotfoot over here ruins all of my research!"
[Out of breath, frustrated] "You really want to ask that question after all that? Flare, if Miss Glimmer hadn't stopped you, I'd have to see you off to sanitation duty!"
[Frightened, worried] "No! There was someone still studying in the lab on the third floor! By the ancestors, I can't believe I forgot about Gladys!"
A mole, member of the City Guard.
[Serious] "Headmaster Spyro! I have an urgent message from the Commander!"
[Serious, concerned] "I'm afraid time is not a luxury we have, sir."
An eagle messenger that convinces Spyro and Cynder to return to Warfang.
"You are to be named Headmaster of the Academy, and Cynder Captain of the Guard"
An annoying mole. This is pretty much her only line, so have fun with it.
[Annoyed] "No I am not! One minute I'm working on my class experiment, the next I'm being kidnapped by this ruffian!"
