Spyro Animated Short

Spyro Animated Short

Project Overview

Like so many I have alot of nostalgia for certain PS1 games from the late 90's such as Spyro. With this project I'm aiming to give new life to the quirky characters in a form of an animated short, but I require a cast of talented voice actors to make It happen.

We're looking for people who are not only able do a good impression of the characters voices, but also to make it their own performance and capture some real personality in the role. Our script for the project is in a finished state now, but we're not shy to edit lines if it helps with you with speaking more natural dialogue. A number roles have already been completed but theres a few still needing good talent!

In terms of reference for the characters;

Here is a pack of extracted voice files from Spyro 3:

In the technical department, everything is going rendered and animated within 3DStudio Max and then edited and compiled in Sony Vegas. Full credits will ofc be given to anyone involved in the project! This is project is purely for fun and creativity.. and also it just started because we realised we could render graphics in 3DS that looks the splitting image of the games.

Spyro's attitude changes slightly depending on what game. In the first he was abit cocky and sure of himself which came accross heavily as a naive child, which worked quite well. However its Tom Kennys portrayal of his more light hearted helpful nature in the second and third game I favour the most. which can be seen evidently in the cutscenes I linked.

  • [Happy]:“Why didn’t you say so, I got all the gems you could ever need.”

  • [Happy/Cocky]: “heh, watch and learn pussy cat”

  • [Happy/Sadistic/Evil]: “I just hope it explodes.”

Kinda the loveable bumbling moron, Hunter is just as enthusiastic to help as Sgt. Byrd, if his nerves don't get the best of him. He often ends up making things worse accidently, but always means well. Portrayed NOT by Tom Kenny this time but great Gregg Berger.

  • [Shy/Questioning] “Err... nothing. Say, have you seen Spyro around?”

  • [Annoyed/Confused]: “Hey what gives, where’s all the gems?”

  • [Annoyed/Shouting] Hunter: HEY! I’m worth more than that, and besides, no one has that many gems.

Professor is exactly what he sounds like, Tom Kenny does a very recognizable quirky smart guy voice which pops up many times in his work. The Professor is always tinkering in odd gadgets and trying to sound smart with his language. He seems very distant often talking to himself rather than others.

  • [Concentraiting/Thinking Outloud] “Lets see, just a few more adjustments and..  There, the rockets should now be fully calibrated. Ready Sergeant?

  • [Concentraiting/Thinking Outloud]“Hmm, ahh, of course. Using precisely 300% more rocket fuel should even out those bugs we’ve been having with the homing.

  •  [Helpful/Explaining]: “Did I hear Avalar? To get there you’d need a super portal with 14 Orbs and a power crystal”

The fast talking almost drill sergent like character of Sgt. Byrd is upbeat with a can do attitude and always enthusiastic to help out. Portrayed yet again by Tom Kenny, Starting to think of these games like a spongebob voice reunion.

  • [Commanding/Quirky] “Locked and loaded sir”

  • [Commanding/Quirky] “Ahaah! Target in my sights, Stand back!”

  • [Commanding/Questioning] “Sir, which direction are we looking again?”
