Project Info

Welcome to a new side project for my YouTube channel!

This series will feature short, dramatic readings of poetry, speeches, and other texts (about 2–3 minutes each), all performed by you. Think of it as your moment on stage—bringing words to life with your voice and flair.

For reference, here’s a sample that sets the vibe I’m aiming for:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwl5MXvbKbI
https://youtube.com/shorts/8Iyy7f6pdhQ?si=nVFXTdA5_oTGBJCs

These two offer dramatic readings of music, poems, or various other things.
(Not the exact format, but it captures the concept)

How to Audition:
  1. Record yourself reading dramatically your favorite poem, speech, song or whatever you find fits!

  2. Keep it under 90 seconds.

What You’ll Need:
  • XLR mic preferred, but not required.

  • Your audio should be clean, clear, and free of background noise (no echo, muffling, static, etc.). USB mics often suffer from this so good luck!

  • What you read must be safe for all audiences—no NSFW content, profanity, or material that targets any group with hate or bigotry.

How Selection Works:
  • Stick to the 90-second guideline.

  • Delivery is everything. Don't read it like your grocery list—your performance is what makes it sing.

  • If selected, you’ll get material I want you to read—but feel free to submit your own favorites too.

Pro Tips for Reading:
  • Pace yourself: rushing can undercook the “flavors” of the piece, while lingering too long can weigh it down.

  • Find a balance between clarity, emotion, and rhythm.

  • Make every word count—your voice is the bridge between the poem and the audience.

Latest Updates

  • More! More! More!

G’day! Just wanted to give a bit more context in case the “YouTube references” didn’t paint the full picture… 😐

I’m looking for a dramatic monologue-- take something from one of your favorite pieces of writing, and read it dramatically. And please, don’t read it like an Ikea instruction manual. I need emotion, presence, drama.

Take a Beatles song, for example—recite it like you’re on stage, performing a Shakespearean tragedy. Make it epic.

Feel free to record two different takes of your chosen piece. Heck, read me the back of a cereal box and give it the full Greek tragedy treatment. It’s all about your delivery and performance.

Keep it short — 90 seconds max. I can allow a little leeway (up to 10-15 extra seconds), but the pacing should remain tight and impactful.

Audition Expectations:

  • Clear, crisp audio—no muffled sound or echo.

  • XLR mic preferred, but not required.

  • You may experiment with accents or vocal styles if it enhances your performance. But please make sure you are CLEAR and able to be comprehended.

  • Selection will be based on delivery, audio quality, and adherence to the time limit.

  • Multiple people can be selected for this role
