Sonic Synergy

We are currently looking for writers to join our team for Sonic Synergy. We’re seeking individuals who can consistently write engaging, well-structured dialogue for a large and diverse cast.

A strong understanding of Sonic the Hedgehog lore is highly important. This project is being written with the intent of aligning closely with the mainline canon, including the video games and the IDW comics, so familiarity with the series is a major requirement.

We welcome pitches and story ideas. All submissions will be reviewed by the team if an idea fits, we’ll pursue it. If not, it may either be revised for future use or respectfully set aside. Regardless, we always make sure to credit contributors. Not out of obligation, but out of respect for the creators involved, as we view storytelling as a collaborative effort.

If you are brought onto the team, please note that all writing and story ideas whether approved or not will go through a revision process. Either myself or Clara will review and refine submissions as needed. This may include edits, restructuring, or adjustments to better align with the tone and direction of the project. You will always be kept informed of any changes, but maintaining consistency across the project is a priority.

This also applies to character writing. Dialogue and characterization may be revised when necessary to ensure consistency with established personalities and dynamics. That said, growth is part of the process learning the characters as you write them will naturally strengthen your ability over time, and those skills can be shared with others on the team as well.

Lastly, the project is intended to be rated PG, though it may lean toward a slightly darker tone when appropriate. This means certain themes, humor, or action may skew a bit more mature within those limits. If you’re comfortable working within that space, we’d be happy to have you join us.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a character who needs little introduction, most people are already familiar with him.

For this role, we’re looking for a voice that’s relatively close to Roger Craig Smith’s portrayal, as it represents the current English interpretation of the character. The performance should also align with how Sonic is written and characterized in the modern games and IDW comics.

Rouge the Bat is another well-known character in the series, recognized for her confidence, charm, and sly, flirtatious personality.

For this project, we’re looking for a voice that captures her smooth, confident tone while maintaining the playful and clever edge she’s known for.

Overall, the performance should stay consistent with how Rouge is portrayed in the modern games and IDW comics.

Shadow the Hedgehog as a character needs little introduction; he's one of the most recognizable figures in the series.

For this project, we’re looking for a voice that aligns closely with Kirk Thornton’s portrayal, as he has been the primary English voice of Shadow in the games since 2010 . However, performances similar to Ian Hanlin’s interpretation in Sonic Prime are also a strong reference point, as they capture a slightly different but still faithful take on the character .

Overall, the goal is a performance that reflects Shadow’s core traits: calm, serious, and emotionally grounded while staying consistent with his portrayal in the modern games and extended media.

Eggman Nega is an antagonist in the Sonic series and a distant descendant of Dr. Eggman, originating from the future. Despite his similar appearance and intellect, he is not the same character; he is far more extreme in both mindset and goals. 

Unlike Eggman, who often seeks control and domination, Eggman Nega leans more toward chaos and outright destruction. He is cold, calculating, and eerily calm, often maintaining a polite and composed demeanor even while carrying out cruel or destructive plans. This contrast is what makes him stand out on the surface, he may resemble Eggman, but internally, he operates very differently. 

For this project, we’re looking for a voice that reflects that distinction. The performance should not sound like a direct Eggman impression. Instead, it should carry a similar intelligence and presence, but with a more controlled, sinister, and composed delivery. Think less loud and bombastic, and more calm, calculated, and quietly threatening.

Eggman Nega should feel like someone who is always thinking ahead methodical, manipulative, and dangerous without needing to raise his voice. The goal is to capture a version of the character that feels true to his established traits while also giving him a unique identity within the story.

Zippy is a tiny red goblin gremlin with a huge personality and absolutely no sense of personal boundaries. She’s loud, hyper, impulsive, and obsessed with anything shiny, crunchy, explosive, or edible. Despite looking like a little menace, she’s weirdly lovable once you get used to the chaos she brings everywhere she goes.

She lives off scavenging, collecting junk, and “borrowing” things she technically never plans to return. Zippy acts tough and mischievous, but underneath all the goblin energy she’s surprisingly loyal to the people she trusts. She’s the kind of character who would accidentally start a fire trying to help you cook dinner… then proudly present the burnt food like she accomplished something amazing.

She moves fast, talks faster, and has a habit of climbing onto furniture instead of using chairs normally. Most people underestimate her because of her size right up until she outsmarts them or bites them.

Likes: shiny objects, snacks, loud music, homemade gadgets, collecting random garbage

Dislikes: baths, rules, being called “cute,” long explanations, vegetables

Height: very smol

Energy level: catastrophic goblin chaos

This is an official casting call for experienced sprite animators and pixel artists interested in working on Sonic Synergy.

We’re currently looking for artists who can help bring more video game-inspired elements into the project, whether that’s recreating the feel of classic Sonic levels, referencing iconic moments from past games, or even helping create entirely original boss fights and sequences inspired by the visual style of the classic Sonic the Hedgehog Sega Genesis era and the Sonic Advance games.

We’re especially interested in artists who understand the animation philosophy behind those games, including expressive character sprites, fast-paced movement, detailed environmental work, and strong visual personality through pixel art.

The biggest requirement is that we are specifically looking for people who can create original sprite assets, not simply reuse or rearrange existing material. Because of that, we expect applicants to already have a strong level of experience with sprite work, pixel animation, and game-style visual design. References to previous projects or portfolios are required so we can get a clear understanding of your work and animation capabilities.

As for payment, there is no flat rate. Different freelance animators and artists charge different prices depending on experience, workload, and the complexity of the request, so payment will be discussed directly with the artist based on their own rates and the scope of the work being requested.

Typically, payment would be finalized after the work has been reviewed by the team so we can make sure everything functions properly and fits the project stylistically. If any revisions or adjustments are needed, those will be communicated clearly, and references or guidance will gladly be provided whenever necessary to help streamline the process.

Miles "Tails" Prower is Sonic’s best friend and trusted little buddy an iconic character who’s just as recognizable in his own right.

For this role, we’re looking for a voice that’s relatively close to Colleen O’Shaughnessey’s portrayal, as it reflects the current English interpretation of Tails. The performance should also align with how he’s characterized in the modern games and IDW comics.

Amy Rose is a character who really needs little introduction since most people are already familiar with her. For this role, we’re primarily looking for a voice that’s relatively close to Cindy Robinson’s portrayal, as it best represents the current English interpretation of the character.

The performance should also stay in line with how Amy is written and characterized in the modern Sonic games and the IDW comics.

Surge the Tenrec is a character that appears in the Sonic comics by IDW She is an anthropomorphic tenrec with modified cybernetic enhancements implanted by Dr. Starline and with no memories of her past, and the companion of Kitsunami The Fennec. She was made for the sole intended purpose of destroying Sonic and replacing him as the hero of the world. However, after discovering the secret of her origin, Surge would begin seeking revenge on everyone she blames for her past life being taken away from her. Though after realizing that her creator is gone, she now seeks to become her own hero while also taking out Sonic and Dr. Eggman whenever they show up.

Vector the Crocodile is a major character in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, known as the leader of the Chaotix Detective Agency, a team of private investigators. He's a large, green crocodile with a love for money, but a good heart, often seen wearing headphones and a gold chain. Originally debuting in Knuckles' Chaotix, he's a strong, "power-type" character who is fiercely loyal to his friends and often takes jobs for cash, though he'll help for free when needed. 

Currently looking for a voice actor that could impersonate Keith Silverstein who is the current English voice actor for Vector.

Charmy Bee is a hyperactive, cheerful, and childlike bee from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, known as the youngest member of the Chaotix Detective Agency alongside Vector and Espio. He's characterized by his love for playing, his flight ability, and his surprisingly useful detective skills, often finding clues others miss, despite his scatterbrained nature. Currently looking for a voice actor that could impersonate Colleen O'Shaughnessey who is the current English voice actor for Charmy.

Espio the Chameleon is a fictional character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, known as a skilled ninja and a member of the Chaotix Detective Agency alongside Vector the Crocodile and Charmy Bee. He is a serious, disciplined, and quiet chameleon who uses ninja arts like camouflage and shuriken for combat. Currently looking for a voice actor that could impersonate Matthew Mercer who is the current English voice actor for Espio.

Vanilla the Rabbit is a kind, polite, and demure anthropomorphic rabbit from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, best known as the mother of Cream the Rabbit. She is a skilled homemaker who lives with Cream, their Chao Cheese, and Gemerl, and is known for her gentle but firm parenting, teaching her daughter good manners. She appears as a supporting character in the Sonic X anime and other media, often portrayed as a loving parent who supports her daughter's adventures while preferring a quiet life. Currently looking for a VA that can impersonate Jenny Yokobori as that's the current iteration of the character in terms of the English voice.

Cream the Rabbit is a polite, young rabbit from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, known for her large ears that allow her to fly, and her inseparable Chao companion, Cheese. She first appeared in Sonic Advance 2 and is characterized by her sweet, well-mannered, and brave personality, often helping her friends like Amy Rose and Blaze the Cat, despite disliking violence. Her abilities include flight, super speed, and using Cheese as a projectile attack. Currently looking for a VA that can impersonate Michelle Ruff as that's the current iteration of the character in terms of the English voice.

Whisper the Wolf is a popular, quiet, and skilled sniper character from the IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics, known for her tragic past as the sole survivor of the Diamond Cutters mercenary group, betrayed by Mimic the Octopus. She uses a "Variable Wispon" to channel Wisps for powerful, precise attacks, and has formed a close bond with Tangle the Lemur, gradually becoming a more confident member of Sonic's team. Currently looking for a VA that can impersonate Anairis Quiñones as that's the current iteration of the character in terms of the English voice.

Tangle The Lemur is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. She is an anthropomorphic ring-tailed lemur from Spiral Hill Village and a member of the current generation of Diamond Cutters. She first became acquainted with Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends during the fallout after the Eggman War, having sprung into action to defend her village from one of the Badnik hordes terrorizing settlements across the world. Since then, she has been a recurring participant in the adventures of Sonic and his allies. Currently looking for a VA that can impersonate Ashlyn Madden as that's the current iteration of the character in terms of the English voice.

A brilliant alien scientist and fearless explorer, Mira is Nuname’s mother and a seeker of lost truths. Guided by courage and compassion, she travels galaxies and stands firm for what’s right.

Due to this character being an original Maverick character, this role is considered a long-term commitment. If you plan on auditioning, please keep that in mind beforehand.

If you aren’t interested in playing the character long-term, then I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend auditioning for the role. Thank you for understanding.

Deema The Pitbull is a magic user with a calm, grounded presence and a strong sense of personal right and wrong. She’s brave, resourceful, and operates on her own terms, not a hero, not a villain, just someone who acts when it matters. While she’s serious when the situation calls for it, she also has a surprisingly comedic side, often catching people off guard with dry wit, blunt humor, or unintentionally funny moments that slip through her composed exterior.

Sirlina is a cold, tyrannical queen who believes order justifies any level of cruelty. She rules through fear and absolute control, seeing rebellion as something to erase rather than understand. Calm, regal, and emotionally detached, she treats mass destruction as “necessary correction,” including casting out her own daughter without hesitation.

Nox is a quiet, calculating tyrant who treats destruction like a logical solution. He is emotionally detached, brutally efficient, and responsible for large-scale annihilation without remorse. Unlike Sirlina’s ideological control, he is practical, evil, precise, indifferent, and focused only on outcomes, not lives.
