Shadows of Tomorrow: Third Casting

Timely’s original VA had to step down from the role before he ever appeared. His old voice will in no way influence the new voice casting, but i feel it is important to note that he at one point had a prior voice. Said person is no longer involved with the project and is not associated with Shadows of Tomorrow.

Timely is one of Sai’s high ranking ‘servants’, one of his two main attendants. A being directly descended from Kamui, shown through his unusual colors and abilities. Timely has a pocket watch to which he can jump to any point in the future, but he cannot jump back. That is why Timely is where he is in time, as originally he was from as far back as Lene was, approximately 500 years ago, but cannot return to then. Timely is the best friend and close companion to Doodle, the two often serving as comedic relief to Sai with their antics and cheerful interactions. Timely has to do all the talking for Doodle, but doesn’t mind. He’s just happy to have a place to belong where he is not judged, using his powers to look into the future to better serve his friends. He never goes anywhere without Doodle, no matter what he will not leave his friend behind. They serve sort of a Scratch and Grounder role, the comedic duo in service to a big boss. But y’know, not evil. Though as time passes, Timely begins to doubt how the world really works. As surely if the deities created this world to be fair, then why would Doodle be so outcasted? Why can’t he return home? In terms of voice, i’m not too sure what I’m looking for. Open to any interpretations, but I think Timely should be a bit more on the higher pitches. Maybe something like Saiki K from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K or Tighnari from Genshin Impact. Originally he had some Alastor vibes, but this isn’t required and is more an idea. Timely will be one of the main characters in season one, the first ten episodes or so.

Maru Blacklands is the king of the Luaars kingdom, the great leader who brought peace again to the five kingdoms. He’s the wise, amazing king beloved by all. But Maru’s been keeping some things from the people of his land, and he may not be the leader he claims to be. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep the peace and protect his kingdom, the throne he’s claimed, the nephew he took in and the son he lost. Maru himself shows a very different image publicly than he does to himself. His people view him as the only reason the world of Rinta has peace at all, the best thing to ever happen to this lifetime. But internally, Maru sees himself as the deity of the sun walking among the living. He’s a shapeshifter, and uses his ability to directly mimic the appearance of Kamui, from the tone of his skin to the heterochromia to the color of his hair. He believes himself to be the savior of the world, and will handle the job better than Kamui ever could to ACTUALLY protect the citizens (because quite frankly Kamui does a horrible job of keeping people alive). Think sort of like season 2 Vox, but actually caring for the people he rallies and not JUST power. For vocal references, i’m not too sure on him. I’m currently thinking something like Alhaitham from Genshin Impact, Sonic Prime’s rendition of Knuckles, L in Death Note, Kunikida in Bungo Stray Dogs, characters along those lines! As long as it shares that sort of tone, i’m open to new ideas.

Jaiden Crest is the reigning Queen of the Soaars kingdom. Former flame to Maru of Luaars and now widow of Naomi Crest, Jaiden is the mother to Sai and Ash. Jaiden’s got no clear age but seems to be early 40’s, a very elegant but childish at times lady. After losing one of her loves to war and the other over political conflicts, Jaiden promised to be the best mother and solo queen as she can be. She does her best to be a model example, being a kind queen to all her people no matter what species. But there’s only so much she can do on her own, and with the lingering trauma from the war she’s beginning to need to take a step back. Thankfully Sai is just about ready to take over her position, so she’s able to back up and take time to herself. For vocal references I’m picturing something like Sonic Prime’s rendition of Rouge the bat or modern day Amy Rose, Enid from OK KO, Ragatha from TADC, Utahime from Jujutsu Kaisen, I’m not exactly too sure what I want from her but a sort of upbeat motherly figure. She will need to have a very extreme emotional range, particularly sadness and melancholy will be big feelings for her early on. Jaiden will be the main person in episode 4, and will likely have a scene around episode 7-8

Charli Vulpi is the head to the Department of Families, basically the world of Rinta’s CPS. He has a daughter of his own, Sandy, whom he cherishes dearly and wants to protect no matter the cost. Charli is often a serious fellow, taking his duties very seriously and wants to act as a shoulder to lean on for any family in hard times. He’s sort of the moral support of the Luaars kingdom, and intends to keep that position until he dies. Charli is a very minor character, so far only appearing in episode 6 with the other cabinet members. In terms of voice, I picture something like Rantaro Amami from Danganronpa: Killing Harmony, Tsukasa in Romantic Killer, Professor Venemous in OK KO, Almond Cookie in Cookie Run Kingdom, things along those lines! I’m not too picky for him. Just something fatherly but a bit higher pitched. So far he only has one line, but could make later appearances later down the line with his daughter.

Madame Hani Oakes is an elegant lady, head to the Department of Environment and making sure the world remains in balance with natural life. She’s one of the elder folk on the team, being a mother figure to pretty much everyone and caring for the kingdom’s youngins alongside Mr. Charli. Hani herself has a daughter, Chiibo, who was outcast as a criminal a few years ago. Hani uses her position to meet with her daughter in secret and protect her, even from afar. She helped raise the Luaars royal children, and would rather side with the kids than Maru. Maru always seems to shut down her attempts to deban outlaws, and has begun resenting the king. The only reason she sticks with him is because he provides her with insane political power which she secretly uses against Maru to shelter mistreated kids. Hani is arguably the craftiest of the Inner Cabinet, and will do whatever it takes to protect her daughter. Even at the cost of her own life. For Hani, I picture someone very elegant and poised, she seems like she has the answer to everything and is very motherly. I can’t find any specific references for her for characters.

Boux is a shapeshifting bee, what form they take dictates their personality. In the first form we see, Boux uses they/she and is much more feminine. They run the Department of Finance, and in male form he runs the Four Corners Casino on Eclipse Island. But this is their feminine form- in this state, Boux is ruthless. They were originally my Hazbin Hotel OC, their writing reflects it slightly. They’re violent, and run their department more like a mafia to collect debts owed to the king. They’ll act on a whim at the command of their lord, doing whatever it takes to keep the money high and Maru satisfied. Boux also acts as Maru’s private assassin, representing the dark side of the kingdom. They rule the night life with a merciless grip, but always stay in the king’s shadow. In terms of voice references, I’ve got a few things in mind. Niffty from Hazbin Hotel, Luna from Dr. Stone, Yanfei from Genshin Impact, Fink from OK KO, Riri from Romantic Killer, things among those lines. Boux’s decently high pitched and deranged, but can easily switch to an extremely dark tone. This snap of tone is required for the character. Boux and their genderbend will be somewhat villains of season two, and have the second most important role of the Inner Cabinet besides Madame Hani.
