TO SUM IT UP

Aku is the central antagonist of the cartoon Samurai Jack. He is also known as the "Master of Masters", "The Deliverer of Darkness", and the "Shogun of Sorrow".

Aku constantly antagonizes Jack, often attacking him when he is weak, and other times defending himself from Jack's own gambits. The two seem doomed never to defeat each other, for though Jack has defeated him on numerous occasions, Aku merely transforms into a creature and escapes, usually calling out a taunt over his shoulder, a fact that he is entirely aware of and even makes a reference to in "Episode XLVIII: Jack versus Aku". While he's usually presented as a serious and threatening foe, Aku is also a source of comedy in the show, due to his outrageous design and sometimes wise-guy behavior, supported by Mako's over the top voice-acting.

PERSONALITY

Aku is evil incarnate; he embodies the very essence of an evil overlord. Cruel and domineering to all he meets, it's obey or be obliterated with Aku. Arrogant and sadistic by default, he has ruled the planet for thousands of years and does not take kindly to disobedience. Although he is merciless and inhumane, to say the least, he has enough of an understanding of humanity to manipulate their feelings to his advantage.Aku is as intelligent as he is powerful, and his cunning knows little end, from taking the form of a woman to trick Jack or manipulating various races into serving him. He has no remorse whatsoever about telling someone he will save their village if they obey his command, only to destroy said village as soon as he gets what he wants. Despite this, he possesses a dry sense of humor and often jokes when in a good mood, mocking Jack whenever he can and with whatever he can. For instance, in one episode Aku holds a time portal just out of Jack's reach as Jack jumps for it.

Introduction Aku Speech

Aku Challenges Jack

  • Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku!

  • Oh, put that thing away, Samurai. We all know what's going to happen. You'll swing your sword, I'll fly away, and probably say something like, "I'll be back, Samurai!" And then I'll flutter over the horizon and we probably won't see each for... about a week. And then we'll do the same thing again.

  • (Fight sounds, yelling, etc)

Young Adult

(You will be required to yell and make fighting sounds).

TO SUM IT UP

Samurai Jack tells the story of a young prince from feudal Japan, whose father acquired a magical katana that he used to defeat and seal a shape-shifting demon named Aku. Having foreseen that Aku would eventually break free, the Emperor sent his son to travel the world and train his mind and his body before returning years later to Japan as an adult. After taking his father's katana, the prince challenges Aku to a duel and defeats him. But Aku creates a time portal before the prince can deal the final blow, sending his opponent into the distant future with anticipation that he would be able to amass sufficient power to deal with the samurai by that time.

PERSONALITY

Jack strongly exhibits the characteristics of a stoic hero. He is unfailingly kind and generous, and will always attempt to help those in need, as well as dispatching sage like wisdom to those he believes are in need of guidance. He often ends up sacrificing a chance to return to his own time in order to help someone else. He is also clever and rational, able to pose a plan or a strategy necessary to defeat the enemy, and also knowing his limits (such as when he is surrounded by too much enemies to defeat them by pure force). However a running gag in the show is his inability or reluctance to understand the technology of the future, such as in one episode, Jack had attempted to escape Aku's fortress after rescuing two fairy like creatures by driving a hovercar, but he fails to operate it competently, claiming he prefers to walk.

Aku Challenges Jack

Samurai Jack

  • Samurai Jack: What sorcery is this? Who are you?

Mad Jack: Don't be such a fool! I'm you.

Samurai Jack: If you are me, then who am I?

Mad Jack: Oh! You're so stupid. You are you also.

    - DIVIDED SCENE -

Mad Jack: What the heck is going on?
Jack: You have lost. The battle is over.
    Mad Jack: What?
Jack: You are my inner demon. You have been born from the hatred within me. But now, the hatred is no more. Thus, you do not exist.
Mad Jack: You fool! I am real! Now taste the reality of my cold hard steel!
    [Mad Jack charges at Jack]

(Do both Samurai Jack and Mad Jack, yes you will be talking with yourself.)

  • Samurai Jack: Aku's wrongs must be righted. Surely there is a way to reverse his spell. I will find a way back to my own time. There, I will finish what I started centuries ago, and defeat Aku's evil before it is ever unleashed!

  • (Fight sounds, yelling, etc)

You can read those lines or make up new lines which relate to Samurai Jack.

(Keep in mind you might be required to yell and make fighting sounds).

  • For countless eons I have guarded this magical power of time travel. *All* have been denied, from the mightiest of giants, to the tiniest of warriors. You see samurai, only one man has been prophesized to defeat me. And that man is the only man who can use this time passage. And you, my man... ain't that man.

  • Wait! I beg you, reconsider. There are only three archers, yet they decimated my whole army. You are just one man. Do the math. Why attempt it?

  • Seeing as I'm a sportsman, I'll give ye a moment to recuperate.
