Bio: 

Kayla and her sister had barely anything back on earth- their parents had even less. Earth’s resources hadn’t enough to feed their whole family, and debts had only made their situation worse. 

So when there was the opportunity to send their kids off with a chance at a rich, fulfilling life in another star system, they sent their kids with a relative to this new world. The girls struggled in their new lives and witnessed the conflicts of a new, unstable society. 

When Kayla was old enough, she picked up her uncle’s trade- something very partial and universal for their conditions, and found she was a natural at it. After he was hospitalized from a construction incident, Kayla stepped up as the adult in the house and brought in money to pay for the hospital bills and her sister’s schooling, a role she was hesitant to take due to its immensity but dove into nonetheless.

It had been a hard grind for a few years, taking up whatever job she could avoiding danger when she could. At some point it all paid off as Claire managed to snag herself a job and Harvard and take the role from her. Though still keeping an eye on her sister, Kayla has been feeling a little lost now only having to maintain herself, something she never quite got to work on while she grew up.

◆ She feels that engineering is the only thing that clicks together. It's fitting pieces of a puzzle.

◆ She hates being boxed in or having to stay in one place for too long. Because of it she takes quick jobs from all over, and hasn't had a long lasting relationship as the fear begins to click in.

◆ her need for escape had spawned when she once found a mouse drowned in a hole after a rainy day. From there she connected with the feeling with fear, like how the mouse wouldn't escape its watery death. How her parents were stuck on earth. Or how her uncle was stuck in a hospital bed. 

Notes: 

◆ She is very stingy with money and saves it up- sometimes haggles to amass enough for an escape route/plan that doesn't quite exist (or just has too many possibilities) At the same time feels guilty about leaving her sister and not being able to assemble her own life like Claire has.

◆ She loves to take as many jobs as she can to amass a profit.

◆ Because of her obsession with fleeing she has a hard time getting attached or enjoying anything

◆ She also has a problem with figures of authority and generally sees them all as ways to restrict and abuse people, no matter what part of the moral compass they preach from. 

◆ She loves coffee cause it keeps her alert and mobile, but her addiction makes her grumpy when withdrawing

◆ She has zero to no cooking skills and usually relies on protein bars or dehydrated things to get her by.

This character is also used for the voice of POSHI, an artificial intelligence that helps Kayla in her hunt to save Claire. POSHI has the same personality as Claire, however the tone of her voice is more mono and fake.

Bio:  

Like Kayla, she had been shipped off to a new planet due to poor circumstances. Arriving at the new colony she lived with her sister and Uncle in the shabby part of town. As her sister took an apprenticeship under their Uncle, Claire was trying to find ways to improve their situation focusing on her education as investment into more secure living conditions, as well as the state of RIVER once she had the means to do so.

Things took a small turn once their Uncle was critically injured, while Kayla took care of him in his state Claire doubling down on her studies and excelling in her grades. Harvard took her on with the rest of the ‘talented’ students into the Harvard Extension System (HES) where disenfranchised kids get the one of a lifetime opportunity to learn advanced subjects and immediately gain Harvard employment. Claire takes this chance to study advanced computer science and quickly lands a position in the Cyberware Department.

From then she made sure to make her family's life as comfortable, especially their uncle whom she had set up in a grade A hospital before he passed on. As of late has been working on supporting her sister through her rough patch and hopefully helping her finally settle down.

◆ Down-to-Earth, Nurturing, Protective, Stubborn

◆ Unlike her sister, Claire flourishes where she is and believes in forging the life she wants with whatever constraints/resources is given to her at the time. 

◆ Because of her nurturing nature, she is very sweet, caring and protective. But is very resolute about her convictions, especially about those of protecting her life's work that would, in her mind, will make life best for everyone.

◆ She is mildly concerned about her flighty sibling (the concern only got worse when their uncle passed and she found work) who doesn't seem to share the interest of fortifying a life for herself. She even offered to pay for therapy which Kayla has denied.

◆ Unlike her sister who seems to try to escape the inevitable- Claire wants to bunker down and make something of her temporariness as she knows a legacy will last longer than scurrying about.

◆ She shares Kayla’s poor culinary skills as they both lack the time to cook or prepare anything.

◆ Despite Claire being paid a Credit salary, Kayla had implored  that Claire should liquidate a good portion of her funds into barterable goods in case Harvard’s economy falls apart.

Bio: 

◆ When he was younger, Gregory's brother was admitted to the hospital for a construction the initial colonization of River, during his time at a makeshift medic bay a gang of hooligans broke in. Taking medical supplies and disrupting all staff- and because of it Gregory's brother died of neglect. Since then he both hates the city and sees its opportunity, as he knows he can meld it from ashes if he burns it to the ground.

◆ To him, River is his undisciplined animal that needs to be whipped into shape. Whenever it goes out of line he has to show a firm hand.

◆ Harvard grew up in a military family that were one of the first to arrive at the colony, he had risen up in the ranks and created his own PMC group, which became even more effective and larger than the local military at some point.

◆ He had a seat on the RIVER city council, he was the go to man for all things regarding armed forces. After time on the planet he grew impatient with the council as they kept denying him his plans to finally get the colonies into shape. So he overthrew the government.

◆ Gregory is a Stone Wall

◆ He is vigilant, protective, closed off, biased and pragmatic, collective, and lethal when threatened

◆ He is a collector and a hoarder. He keeps rooms to store just about everything and everything. 

◆ Ever since his brother died at the hospital, he has been afraid of losing things that he believes belonged to him. He even goes as far as manipulates and indentures people so that they stay under his service/watch/ protection.

◆ He believes he knows best for everyone he meets, he's lived a life of power and getting whatever he wanted with his own abilities: why wouldn't he know what's best?

Bio: 

◆ Came as Black-Ops special forces from earth and was used to a certain, adrenaline fueled lifestyle that only waned with his service in the local military.

◆ He had converted over to Harvard with the promises of more complex, ruthless action away from the prying eyes of the government.

◆ Since then he has been working as Harvard’s right hand man.

◆ He is opportunistic, sadistic, mischievous, show-off

◆ A soldier of fortune that appeals to fulfilling his needs and entertainment

◆ He is devoted to an extent, if he is bored or his own life is threatened he will walk away. His loyalty is to himself at the end of the day.

◆ He is a physical stone wall, built on muscle and warfare. Maybe a few sick laughs here and there.

Bio: 

Ver’un had descended from a long line of hunters. He had grown up on stories of hunting and honorable combat, but was unable to partake in his culture's rich history as he was initiated into Harvard's ranks by his father who had worked closely with Greogry to overtake the old government. He had grown up obeying the laws of Harvard not understanding the wrong they were doing as he had no other perspective, until he met the Creswell Sisters.

◆ He is an alien with a gaping flaw. He strongly desires to be resolute, fair, and honorable. But finds himself betraying the goals he sets up for himself constantly.

◆ He is kind, but a coward. And rather stay in his position rather than carve out smth for himself.

◆ His place in the world is fairly tragic. He always wanted to be a hunter like his ancestor before him... but his culture is scattered. He wants to be a fair protector of the city but Harvard... constantly puts him against unruly civilians and lowly drug dealers. He wants to belong to Kayla but he’ll never be what she wants.

Bio: 

◆ King was born a warrior to the native tribe of the planet, he worked for Harvard Crop for several years until they saw fit to remove him. He became old, stubborn, and antagonistic to Harvard and their greedy ways.

◆ He met Shirley during a riot, impressing her by taking out a patrol team by himself.

Personality: 

◆ A warrior loyal to those he pledges his life to and Honorable on the battlefield.

◆ In the end, his Matron’s word is law and he is happy to have purpose again.

Occupation: Shirleys Brains & Comfort

Age: 35

Bio: 

◆ Started off a medical student and saw the overrule of the old government with his own eyes

◆ He describes the time as: blind, ugly chaos. A lot of people got hurt and a lot more will never recover.

◆ His brother and nieces were killed in the initial carnage, and hasn't forgiven Harvard ever since. 

◆ When Harvard took over he banded together with the other brave civilians and sought ways to disrupt their operations for a few years, at some point made contact with Shirley's network to join forces and quickly assimilated 

Personality: 

◆ Caring, polite, precise, thoughtful.

◆ A book smart, analytical kinda guy. Loves puzzles in his free time

◆ He does only what he needs to, exactly what he needs to do in every situation. He will use a finite amount of ammo, will plan his meals perfectly, will sleep an exact number of hours. Everything he does is planned.

◆ Being more the conscious and brains of the operations he is the one that spends the most time with Shirley. He ensures her goal is met and tries to keep her from her more cutthroat tendencies and trying to minimize the violence with alternatives.

◆ In the end she is still the boss, though he is more likely to voice his disapproval for some of her actions.

Bio

◆ Tuco had come from a fairly rough upbringing with a family that was never on the right side of the tracks, having dipped her toes in more shady recreations at a young age like smuggling and larceny, she was even pretty good at it. She had the bad luck of having stolen from the wrong people that had her in hot water from both gangs and police alike. 

◆ Weighing her options and managing to talk her way into police custody and make a deal; she would serve her time by helping them as a woman on the inside.

◆ At some point Special Forces picked her up for her rather unique skills, which kindly erased her shady past.

◆ She served a few tours doing numerous unlisted missions until she lost both her arms in an IED incident protecting some civilians. Putting her off work for a while before Colonial Marshall's offered her work in the frontier sector, where roughness of the colonies put her more questionable skillet to use.

◆ Was requested to assemble a team via INTERPOL to investigate HARVARD

◆ Smarmy, Charming, Silver Tongued, Slick, Analytical

◆ She usually has a mask up of what she really feels or who she really is, everyone gets bits and pieces, and nobody gets a straight answer. She sheds her skin constantly to protect herself.

◆ Letting people in is a rare thing for her, but she does it’s enrapturing. 

◆ Despite her aloofness she does show kindness and care in small gestures, even investing and supporting from the sidelines which sometimes comes off as manipulative

◆ She knows she's not a completely good person

◆ She has an attraction to Kayla that may or may not alter her plans on RIVER, maybe even benefit them

Bio: 

◆ Born on RIVER, in the lower class outskirts and left just before the government become overthrown

◆ Father was an engineer who chopped up stolen vehicles on the side and was arrested later on

◆ Kuze joined the military to support his mother and siblings being the oldest

◆ Using the handiness passed down by his dad he excelled with machines and leaned more towards explosives and disarming them, even breaking a few records in his service

◆ When he had enough money he managed to get his mother off RIVER, though some of his siblings are still there

◆ He still communicates with his family as well as his boyfriend of 4 years

◆ He is a Hearth

◆ Resilient, blunt, comforting, warm

◆ The dad of the group, he is stern but gentle.

◆ Hates Harvard like every good street kid raised in River, and somewhat respects the gangs as he grew up amongst them which makes him butt heads with Bracco a lot.

◆ He knows the general layout of the city and politics from 10 years ago, but not the same depth and detail as Kayla

Bio:

◆ Grew up in a family of busy hands and hard working parents, wanted to be in the SWAT all his life

◆ Studied hard at school, got top marks in all classes. 

◆ Completed his public service university degree 

◆ Joined the Police force at 21

◆ Joined SWAT at 25, it was possibly the happiest day of his life. He allowed himself ONE drink that day

◆ Was a participant in several high risk drug busts and other operations and was offered work in Interpol

◆ His spotter was killed in the line of duty which took a blow to his nerves and reinforced his need for safety in the rules. If it's by the book, all the mistakes made is outside of his power.

◆ Hard-working, rigid, nonconforming, uniform

◆ Has a stickler for the rules as its gotten him this far, as well as kept society from crumbling, which is even more emphasised once he sees RIVER a lawless colony at the brink of war

◆ Doesn't like Tuco but respects her

◆ He has a younger brother who is also undergoing military training and wants to be a good example for him.
