1 in 30: A Documentary about Transgender Youth in America

1 in 30: A Documentary about Transgender Youth in America

Project Overview

For my senior project, I am making a documentary that showcases the humanity of trans* kids in the US. This is meant to combat the devastating political climate our country is facing and show Americans that trans* kids are not some monstrous other, but rather, they are kids just like your own or the ones in your neighborhood.

I am looking for US-based transgender/nonbinary/genderqueer youth to interview for this project. Ideally, participants would be able to come to Bennington College for an in-person interview, but I could also make virtual interviews work. Please see the audition requirements below. Also, please note that I will not be accepting any participants who are not transgender.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing all of your auditions!! :)

  • Please provide a short video or audio clip introducing your family. Have each family member tell me their name, age, where you are from, and what you are passionate about. Also, if you are auditioning alongside a trans* youth who has applied seperately, please tell me their name so I can match you up.
