Pirate video game on Steam: "JOLLY ROGER JAM: CATHRAUL'S CURSE"
Project Overview
"JOLLY ROGER JAM: CATHRAUL'S CURSE" is a pirate-themed platforming video game releasing for Steam on October 4th, 2026. It's almost fully programmed and in the finalization stages now.
The deadline may be extended but due to the Steam approval process, I cannot extend it any later than: September 5th, 2026
ABOUT VOICES: With the exceptions of Captain Radius, Cathraul, and Mermaid(s), these characters talk like stereotypical pirates - your script will contain heavy pirate-talk! As for the accent, think more "Robert Newton" than "Jack Sparrow". I'm not looking for an English accent, but a stereotypical "American pirate" voice, like you'd expect in an American cartoon. With lots of "Arrr", "Matey" and "Shiver me timbers!!" type of talk.
Please feel both free and encouraged to try different voices, and apply for multiple roles! I will cast you for more than one character if you have the range.
Recording/microphone quality does not matter for this project.
The main character specifically is very hyper, with a lot to communicate using small phrases! For this reason I wish to briefly do a realtime call with whomever I choose for the role, to give as full an idea as I can of the character's demeanour and personality. Once I set the basics, it should be a breezy read!
I will also happily make some time to do a voice coach call with anybody who requests it.

Additional Game/Story Information
Captain Butterball has had enough of the dreadful curse that demon Cathraul has cast over the seven seas... so he's takin' matters into his own hands!! Collectin' the seven sacred treasures needed to enter Cathraul's volcano ain't no breeze... especially if the vessel's crazy Captain has anything to say about it!!
There are eight main levels, eight bosses, a hub world, minigames, a level creation mode, and lots of characters to bring to life!
It will cost ten dollars.

This game is made strictly without the use of AI or generative AI. All assets not made in-house are vetted to be from the year 2022 or before.
Voice Actor
For reference, this character talks a lot like a Mario character. Fast, energetic, usually small phrases in short bursts. This is an eccentric cartoon character. A lot of personality. Go as BIG, ENERGETIC and EXAGGERATED as you can!!!

All throughout the game, the character performs various actions, such as punching, pounding, biting, spitting fire, wrestling sharks, interacting with his parrot, running and panicking, and relaying a small variety short catchphrases . This will comprise the majority of your dialogue.

If available, I'd like to shortly voice coach on a call, but I won't be too overbearing. It's not a terribly long read, mostly noises and short phrases, but does require more work and direction than the other roles.

This character narrates various parts of the game, such as cutscenes, the tutorial, and title-cards before each level. This role has the most lines, and is a substantially longer read than the other roles, but still only a few pages total.

This character does not talk like a pirate, unlike the others. He has a serious, no-nonsense, cutthroat voice. It doesn't have to be gruffy, just very serious. In the game, he is is a consistently foreshadowed and extremely revered character. Short read, about one page long in standard size font.

CircuitBeard is a very angry pirate whose body is comprised of technological parts. I don't have any specifications other than, he should sound like a pirate, and be LOUD. Short read, about one page long in standard size font.

Cathraul is the giant demonic octopus who the player's quest is dedicated to stopping. His voice should be a very low, booming, slow voice. Very foreboding and intimidating. You are a giant centuries-old demon who sleeps inside a volcano.
This is one of the shortest reads, as the character only speaks once. It's a wordy and dramatic speech, but the character is otherwise unspoken.

There are multiple mermaids in the game, but the same general voice lines will be re-used for the other ones. Extended dialogue is the leader mermaid speaking.

Various unnamed characters of the protagonist's pirate crew, including the old Captain. They are extremely minor characters who barely speak (a couple lines each at most), so you can have pretty much full creative control over how they sound, as long as they sound believable as pirates.
