Phoenix Theatre is a non-profit/no-monitization video series fangan about 17 unwilling participants being thrown into a hotel, forced to kill each other by a twisted version of a beloved educational kids' show character. While it is inspired by danganronpa, it doesn't take in the hope's peak universe.
The story follow Salena, an ordinary girl that loves solving puzzles and mysteries. She was supposed to graduate from university. However, before she could get the results of her grades, she was brought to this mysterious luxury hotel in her sleep.
Salena is someone who always tries to do the right thing, she grew up never having to face conflict before. In her mind, everyone can be a good person if they wish to be. She wants to give people second chances and listen to why they did the things they did. Though she will soon find out that reality is way different from what she expected it to be.

Keep in mind this fangan will deal with some serious/intense topics and being a voice actor will means you might have to say lines regarding these topics. Keep that in mind while auditioning.
This project will take multiple years to complete so keep that in mind when auditioning. While you will get provided lines to read should you get accepted, keep in mind there will be dry periods where you'll have nothing to voice for months.
Auditions with the character's accent in mind is a nice addition but please don't force yourself if you can't do the accents. Feel free to still audition for them even if you can't do the accent.

Salena is someone who gets along with people fast, she's kind and caring and maybe a little of a people pleaser. She always tries to get everyone's spirits up and never gives up on anyone.
While she is naive and gets easily emotional about stuff, she's still skeptical about people. Just because she believes they can change doesn't mean she can blindly believe everything they tell her.
[Before this line she is unsure to follow someone who passed her without saying a word. This line is her reassurring herself that it'll be alright to leave them alone for the time being and that not everyone is looking for a chat] “Right! I’ll always have a chance to talk with them later…this is a stressful situation so it’s only natural for some people to want to avoid others.
[One character is bashing on another character's movie tastes. Salena tries to redirect the conversation to herself, she isn't all that enthusiastic when talking.] Uhm…so all these posters are Vio’s movies right? I’ve seen Split before, and thought it was pretty good, no idea Vio directed it. Don’t really pay attention to the big names when watching movies..
[Salena playfully teases a friend that she has known for some time when he brings up that they've found out the same clues on their own.] “I certainly talked with more people than you have, right? That means I’ve had even less time to figure things out compared to you.”
Tulip is the energetic killing game host that the cast will have to deal with. He's a cheerful guy that's just happy to be there and loves interacting with the cast members like the killing game is a natural thing. He's not a professional when it comes to hosting killing game, far from it. It seems like he has no idea what he's doing at all at times but when push comes to shove, he'll enforce the rules without mercy. I'm looking for someone who can play both a sinister killing game host with a more preformative and cheerful voice while also being able to play a emotional character that talks with a more grounded voice.
[A little bit of a preformative tone but not fully. Very excited to see the cast of killing game participants, genuine happiness that he's finally able to meet the people he has known a little about but never actually met.] “Hellooo bestest friends! Oh how happy I am to finally meet everyone! I’ve heard and read and seen so many cool things about you all!”
[Preformative Tone. Responding to someone's request to let them go. His tone sounds like he's gently reminding an audience member not to interupt him while he is speaking and that their request will have to wait until he's done explaining everything.] "Nope! Nopecando! I’ve gotta explain the rules you see.” “If you have any questions though, feel free to ask them after the show!”
[No preformative voice. Tulip doesn't understand why anyone would hurt him and speaks with a sad questioning tone. He expected everyone to just be chill about the killing game announcement] “OWW… W-why did you…?” “I was only….”
Verna Marlowe is a reserved person of few words who doesn't share anything about her past, claiming that you can only judge someone from their current self. Though pessimistic, they have upright beliefs and shoot down conflicts between people the moment they show up. She isn't bothered by many things but make the wrong move and you'll be at their mercy.
In conversations, she's not one to sugercoat and cheer you up. Verna tells you how it is, nothing more nothing less. They like conversations that get straight to the point and isn't a fan of jokes or people who don't behave themselves appropiately.
[Threatening Tone] “You must’ve gone through a LOT of effort to get me here…and I’m not exactly afraid of dying either.”
[Someone brings up the idea of stopping the killing game together] "Don't be foolish. The only reason we're alive is because they're letting us be. If they wanted, they could replace us all in a blink."
[Demanding and frustrated] "That's enough you two! Save your words for when you really need them instead of using them for this nonsense!"
Lisbeth is someone who is very formal and inviting towards everyone, except those who have no use to her. She's a stickler for the rules and strives for success every moment of the day, she cannot afford to slack off even a single second in her mind. To do that is creating the groundwork for giving up.
It's clear to anyone that converses with her that she has a high sense of superiority over everyone she meets, even if she doesn't openly show it. She never takes risks and the only people she places her trust in are those she respects. She's very organized and expects everyone to complete their tasks on time with no excuses.
One thing about her dialogue is that she never says "can't, don't, etc." she will always say "Can not, Do not." in full.
[Formal introduction to potential business partners] "Greetings, my name is Lisbeth Wolff, I am the vice president of Lizor Corp. I look forward to doing business with you."
[Lisbeth explains her luxurious homelife lifestyle but also tells them that she can perfectly do things herself. Her tone should be someone trying to convince people into agreeing with her, that food made by the individual themself are more personal and that you thus should be more thankful for it. ] “Under normal circumstances, servants would do everything for us. Now that we are without them, I will have to do it alone. Then again, making food yourself is much more personal is it not?”
[Another character is asking why she would make food for them for free. She responds in a way that hides her intentions while also making herself look better than them but not in a way where it's obvious.] “My, is friendliness not allowed now? I am merely making this food for those in need. I have talents so it’s my duty to put them to use.”
Porter is a private investigator that has a strong sense of justice and fairness. To him only the actions of a person matter, not the motivations behind it. Everyone must be treated the same way, get punished the same way with no exceptions. If there is no subjectivity or forgiveness, there is no room left for anyone to bend the rules for their own benefit.
Porter doesn't belive in using violence to get what you want, he says it's a crude method. Even if a person is the worst person on earth, it's not upon anyone but the law to decide how they're treated. If the law doesn't take matters into the right hands, he will take it upon himself to uncover every single dark secret and expose it to the public.
Some notable things about Porter is that he's very persistent about delivering justice and solving mysteries. That he doesn't want anyone tampering with any evidence and that he doesn't take the words of others at face value and only trust his own until he hits a dead end.
He is vocally agressive against criminals and the like but most of the time he'll remain calm and collected. Despite appearing like having a dry personality, he does crack jokes sometimes in his own way.
[Calmly explaining past events to someone else.] When I said someone attempted to unlock the doors, I meant it. They took a huge sprint and went to kick down the door with their foot.”
[Dry response, indicating that he doesn't need cheering up unlike other people stuck in the killing game.] “...I appreciate the effort, but there are others who could use “that” more.”
[Condemning someone else for resorting to violence, believing the other person is incapable of handling things the right way.] “Interfere how exactly? Your little stunt earlier made it quite clear what sort of person you are.”
Eclipse is a very curious woman who needs to know everything in and out, her desire to research is unmatched. She likes being organized and noting down everything so that she can perfectly remember every detail regarding others and herself.
One thing to note is that she's incredibly suspicious of others and skeptical about their true intentions, she takes a realistic approach to the killing game but isn't a pessimist about it. As much as Eclipse wants everyone to work together, she knows that's impossible. In conversation, she prefers to stay grounded and steer the conversation towards her benefit.
[Furious and betrayed, this line should have a low/medium tone. Really convey the hurt without screaming.] "Every bone and organ in my body told me not to trust you, yet I did." "...I wish nothing but the worst upon you."
[Satisfied with how someone answered her questions] “More than all of them! Thank you so much for your responses, they were very insightful.”
[Explaining her thoughts to someone else who doesn't believe people would hide information in order to get an advantage for themselves] “Just because I believe that, doesn’t mean everyone does. There are bound to be people who only think of themselves and would hide information from others in order to get an advantage over others.”
A mysterious individual who puts himself on a pedestal above everyone else, he likes to make everything about himself and flaunt about his own achievements, even those which are obviously lies.He has a very competitive spirit in general, always trying to one up others with the most unsignificant things.
Trying to provoke him is a lost cause, he doesn't let anything get to him and ignores insults and criticism like they've never been said. Because he doesn't care, he's also not afraid to tell people exactly what he thinks.
He's not all bad though, he says everyone's opinions are of equal importance and doesn't shy away from bringing attention to other people's achievements and applauding them. Though in actual practice, he's often found contradicting this statement.
[Fearful for his own life] “G-god! What even was that??” "We’re up against THIS thing??”
[Presenting himself to others] "The name's Pocuver, I recommend you to remember it, might come in handy should you one day require my exquisite skills."
[Brutally honest comment to someone else in order to feel better about himself] "Should I remind everyone that you were willing to drag yourself and others to deaths all over a little hunch?" "Yeah, didn't think so."
An extroverted and energetic rock star, Darion Dayton brights up everyone's day by his mere presence alone. Though he is an unresponsible and disorganized mess that loves to procrastinate everything, that doesn't stop him from spending his time from doing things, he loves making music and crazy food combinations no one else has dared to create before.
To him every day is worth living to the fullest and to stand still and to give up your dreams is to die.
He's very supportive of people no matter and is kind and cheerful whenever he can. He doesn't get mad anyone for their mistakes as long as it's not done with malicious intent.
The things that infuriates him the most are disrespecting others and not giving people their personal space when they need it, he has a very short fuse when it comes to these situations.
[Talking with disgust about fans that went through extreme measures to look like him] “I’d be fine if it was cosplay but those guys..they go to facial surgery just to…yurgh..” “Let’s…talk about something more tasteful. Take my creation for example.”
[Excitedly talking about all the food options that are available] "Sure thing! We’ve got SOOOO many types of food here to work with, too many to list actually. We’ve got fruit, Candy, Meat, Vegetables, Sauces and spices, tons of exotic drinks and so on!”
[Stern about his viewpoints on life] "Exactly! You’re just a machine, you’ll never know how much value a human life has. It’s not something people will take away from others!”
An individual striving to be the best golfer the world has ever seen. Francis Lynwood tossed aside his studies in order to persue his life goal, using his parents wealth to fund his own path.
Francis is someone who would rather work alone and not rely on other people, he's very bad when it comes to working with other people. He'd take up group projects all on his own in order to not have to deal with his classmates, very few ever disagreed.
Even though he hates working with people, that doesn't mean he hates interacting with them. Far from it in fact, Francis is always ready to have a good time and socialize with others. He loves to tease people and is always cheerful.
When it comes to stressful situations, Francis isn't one to stay calm and accept things as they are without putting up a fight.
[Offended at a machine claiming he has been spied on.] “This talent is for the media cameras only. Not some…knock-off tamagotchi or whatever the hell you’re supposed to be!”
[Teasing his friend] “Right! Even if being here sucks a lot, at least I’ve got someone who sucks more with me!”
[Explaining the logo on his cap with pride] "See this here? This is true talent. I made this design when I was eight years old, you may recognize it as the logo I use for everything minus a few adjustments. It's a reminder to everyone that we all have to start out somewhere."
Vio is a perfectionist that wants control of even the slightest details when it comes to things that are important to him. He believes that he is the only person capable of leading others the right way to ensure things are the best they could be.
He is a director that can't be proud of any of his works and views them only as a stepping stool in terms of funding and learning experience towards his perfect film. His standards when it comes to actors are incredibly high, he only hires the best of the best. Vio doesn't look at how succesful a person is or how popular they have which is why most actors are willing to put up with his behavior for the best shot they have at getting into the actor industry.
Vio is generally very talkative and is an extrovert at heart despite being brash and somewhat dismissive of others in conversation. He's not one to pick on people already down but he's not one to help them either.
[Vio using a blunt tone to shut someone else's antics down] “Yeah no- cut that out. You don’t wanna freak out our new guest.”
[Vio calling an idea terrible, he doesn't hate it per say but he definitely wouldn't want to use it in any of his movies. His tone should tell that he doesn't want another's amazing talent to be wasted on a bad idea.] “Terrible! TERRIBLE Idea. I know that might be suitable for your craft, but you’re working with a professional here. And I don’t settle for anything less than what we deserve.”
[Vio blaming someone for making all the actors busy, he's really frustrated at how he couldn't get his hands on good enough talent. His standards are WAY too high for him to accept good actors, he needs excellent actors for all his movies.] “Hey yeah..it was your people who bought out all the talented actors! The pay your filming branch was offering was way too much! I couldn’t get my hands on actors for MONTHS because of you!”
Loren is intelligent but humble, he's often reserved when it comes to expressing his own feelings and details about his life.
When it comes to work, he likes being precise and cautious, planning things out to get everything right from the first attempt. According to him, a lot of devastating accidents and mistakes can be prevented by just putting a few minutes into thinking things through.
He preforms best when there's nobody watching over his shoulder and having no expectations of others.
Loren is a passive introvert that isn't keen on starting arguments with other people and often goes along with what other people say. He does know how to stand up for himself though when things get serious. He is also pretty skeptical of other people's intentions and doesn't take betrayal lightly.
[Desperate to stop someone from beating another person up] Hey! S-stop that! He looks like he’s getting hurt!”
[Calmly explaining the errors in a book] “Yes, there are several errors in ‘Guide to botany' by Steven Rogerson.’” “For instance, the process that is being described in page 42 is completely false. They failed to account for-”
[Appreciating an offer but turning it down, his volume should be on the lower end] “Thanks for the suggestion…but there’s no need for that. I can handle this by myself.”
Melantha is a huge fan of stories, she watched a ton of movies and television shows when she was a little kid which inspired her to make her own comic series "Argalia’s Chronicles" which is doing successful enough for her to treat it like her occupation.
She's very outgoing and energetic when it comes talking to other people, Melantha could talk for hours about DnD, her comics, movies, actors, etc. if you let her. One thing to note though is that she gets easily distracted by things she finds interesting or exciting.
Melantha's can work for hours at a time without negative effects and has a huge imagination, both of which she uses for her comic which she is super passionate about.
Although she isn't the smartest in the room, she is resourceful and is conscious about only buying stuff she needs. Just because she's a big fan, doesn't mean she'll spend her money on thousands of collectible figures.
[Melantha doesn't actually believe what she's saying here, she's just bringing up an idea that sounds cooler than the theory someone else had.] “I’d say this place is the afterlife, constructed of multiple memories. We probably don’t remember how we got here because our minds are blocking the memory of our deaths”
[Melantha making a hasty leave after hearing a movie director is one of the people that have been kidnapped alongside them. She doesn't want to hang out with people that constantly ask questions about their current situation. ] “Welp, doesn’t matter who it is. Talking to a movie director in the flesh beats boring myself to death here. I’ll be on my way then, see ya!”
[Melantha trying her best to introduce her comic to someone who has never heard of it but is curious. She's really excited about this.] "Ohhh where to start, where to start? The beginning? No that's- that's gonna leave a bad impression. But I can't spoil anything too much either...argh this is so hard!" "You know what? Just tell me your favorite type of character. A hero that's secretly the villain? A legendary guildmaster that was made up by the government to control people?" "ARGH I'M SPOILING IT AREN'T I?? Hopefully they have my comics here...then you can read it at your own pace."
Karim is an extraordinary talented businessman who knows the market inside out. He is calm and collected, confident in all the decisions he takes to expand his corporation.
Being the CEO of many companies is no easy task and he is a very hard working individual so he gets little time for free time, this is why he cherishes every second that he gets to himself.
Since he is the face and founder of the corporation most of the backlash and scandals are directed to him. One must imagine it would hurt him but the truth is it doesn't matter to him a single bit. He has more things to worry about than the opinion of a nobody.
Impressing Karim is a very difficult feat, he only acknowledges and congratulates those who he knows have poured every single bit of their soul into their work and talent. If you didn't earn your success, you might not even have it in the first place.
You'd expect someone like him to be a cold person who thinks himself to be better than everyone else but that couldn't be further from the truth. He's very humble when it comes to his achievements and talks informally when he isn't working.
[Karim being impressed but disgusted at an invention made to harm people] “..I’m not talking about condonement here. I think it’s impressive regardless of the intent behind it.”
[Karim telling someone that their idea of having a traitor amongst them is a cheap tactic to create conflict. He should speak with contempt in his voice] “That’s ridiculous. You’re only trying to sow doubt in order to speed up the process of the game, aren’t you?”
[Karim greeting someone for the first time] "Nice to meet you, my name's Karim." "Huh? You knew that already?" "Ah right- I keep forgetting that the news acts like I'm some important figure."
Maurine is very passionate about her work as a playwright, she deeply admires the endless creativity humans are capable of. She's known for creating grim stories that deviate from the usual storytelling. Maurine's way of telling stories isn't very popular amongst the public so she barely makes a living from it.
She wouldn't have it any other way though, she wouldn't give up her dream job for nothing.
She's extremely prideful about her talent and skills, believing her work to be above everyone else's because it's true to herself. She stands firm on the stories she wants to bring to life and doesn't censor or adjust her work for anyone.
Maurine dislikes movies and tv shows and think they are a waste of time because they are made with the general public in mind, the only time she'll ever watch them is to bash on how bad they are. She does have respect for the talent involved but wishes the freedom shouldn't be restricted by the higher-ups who only want money. The only things she is even willing to give a shot are indie, even then her taste is extremely picky. Time is very precious to Maurine so during dull moments she loves to try out new things nobody has ever done before and do zany antics in order to pass the time, regardless of the rules or formalities.
While she has a huge ego surrounding her work, as an actual person she is an easy-going extrovert who is quick to make friends. Despite her harsh words, she's kind and caring. She knows she's brutally honest and speaks without a filter most of the time but at the same time she doesn't want to be fake either.
[Maurine responding to someone if the entertaining things she mentioned are the movies nearby] “Of course it would be the movies, what else would it be?” “But it’s not exactly the content of the movies that are entertaining, it’s watching them and laughing at how bad they are.”
[Maurine speaking her mind about something she thinks is unfair] "Speaking of different, why the hell is Eclipse the only one here with a personal item? I’m struggling to even find paper around here and she gets a notepad all to herself!”
[Maurine trying special food someone else has made] "You call this...creation a 'Super Darion Triple Mango Salted Chocolate Milk Spicy Sauce Special'?" "It's unlike anything I've seen before. Even though it looks disgusting, I just gotta have a taste!"
Nate is a confident and capable football coach and PE teacher who knows how to lead his players and students in the right direction. He's a supportive and caring individual who knows how to resolve conflicts and help find a middle ground between others.
As a teacher and coach, Nate is very strict but never cruel. He believes that people have to be pushed to become the best versions of themselves, that there is never an easy way to skip all the effort and time required to skip straight to the end. He's less strict with kids than he is with his football team because his students are forced to participate in PE class while his football team decided to join the team on their own accord. Whenever he makes a mistake, he owns up to it because even if he believes himself to be good at his job, he is still a human that can make mistakes.
When he's not working he's more relaxed and inviting. His football team is more like a hobby than a profession which is why every person treats each other like friends instead of co-workers. Whenever the team wins, Nate is always the first to organize a celebration with drinks to celebrate their victory.
[Nate inviting someone to see who could handle the most spice.] “We don’t have to be strangers forever, right? We’re doing a little ***spice*** competition in the kitchen. Care to join us?” “I do have to warn you though, we’re not gonna start lightly”
[Nate trying to stay calm not immediately wanting to jump to the conclusion that they'll be killing humans. There's an uncertainty in his voice.] “A killing game? What are we…supposed to be killing?”
[Nate assuming the leader role in order to take control of a chaotic situation] "I want everyone to be open about who they got as their target. That way, we'll be less inclined to kill each other."
Mélissa is a famous fashion designer that is passionate about the craft. She masterfully designs every intricate detail with the most care possible and rids even the slightest imperfections from the final product. Despite this she's not a perfectionist, that's just how others perceive her work. She believes that every mistake is one you can learn from and that as long as you don't give up, you'll always be on the path to improvement.
In conversations, Mélissa is someone who inspires others to chase their dreams and to not be afraid of what others think of you. She's a very caring and tender person who always manages to put on a smile for others, even in the worst situations. Mélissa is a fan of calm environments and likes to keep things from getting out of hand even if this can make her come across as bossy.
[Commanding other people to stop with a loud voice] “People- that’s enough! This kind of bickering is exactly what they want!”
[Mélissa calmly asking someone to not disturb her and another person.] “Look, you can do whatever it is you want but don’t bother us. Please let us read in peace.”
[Mélissa meeting someone for the first time and reassuring them that everything will be okay.] “Welcome, my name is Mélissa, take a moment to breathe. Everything will be alright.”
Harigo is an energetic and playful magician who likes to live carefree and unconcerned about the future. He dreams of one day hosting his own magic show on the main stage but as it stands now, he's only good for birthday parties. Although he absolutely sucks at magic tricks, his captivating and excited personality is one kids adore which results them being entertained regardless of his tricks succeeding.
He often tries to come over and grandiose and mysteries but isn't very successful at it, the most people find him is annoying because he never knows when to shut up.
Harigo a very cheerful individual, always looking to light the mood and helping other people without asking nothing in return. Though on the other hand he does appear to be indifferent and aloof when it comes to conflict, often not taking things seriously even in the most dire situations. What appears at first to be a magician persona might be how he actually acts all the time.
[Harigo agreeing to the idea to use common items as a substitute for stage props] “A soup ladle to kayak? That’s a great and entertaining idea! I bet I could turn even a chair into the king’s throne.”
[Harigo acting valiant and grand like he's in a performance] “Hah! Hahaha! This is hilarious, the fiendish dragon thinks he can turn us knights against each other! But we remain strong!” “Though if blood shall be spilled, let it be mine! I wish to die a glorious death and sacrifice everything I have for humanity!”
[Harigo with genuine sadness and regret in his voice about an uno game] "I'm sorry for everything...it should've been me." "Perhaps if I had saved that wild four for another turn, things might've gone differently.."
Eric is someone who is cold towards people he isn't close with. He only shows respect and manners to people he's close to and to people who can pull their own weight in a way that satisfies him. Eric hates people who slack off and profit off other people, whenever he sees someone that fits the description, he likes to use his sharp tongue to pester them for his own amusement. The only people he'll make an exception for are those who he coaches and his opponents in anything competitive.
He is a firm believer in sportsmanship and fair play and values being a good sport. Eric is an incredibly strategic individual who never shares how his inner mind works until he's confident that the time is right.
Whenever he does anything competitive he gives it his all and is extremely focused on the game even if the outcome is a certain loss or victory. According to him, if you don't try your best all the time you're forfeiting what you're truly worth and will never achieve anything in life. You can not afford to go easy for a single moment because it will put you in a downward spiral of erosion.
[Eric when someone who isn't contributing anything (according to him) is asking where his manners are] “I left them at home, would get them but you know…we’re kinda stuck here.” “Imma say what, if you help me get outta here, maybe I’ll get them back. That sounds fair right?”
[Eric when he's being told information by someone he knows. He is genuinely proud of them for investigating on their own.] “Oh that? Yeah I know all that already.” “That’s not meant to discourage you by the way, really I’m impressed! Good investigative work, expected nothing less from my rival.”
[Eric is grateful for someone offering to make food for him and everyone else but he doesn't want to take advantage of their kidness and offers to take some of the workload on himself] “Look I’m just saying..I only ordered because you offered. I can make food on my own if it takes some workload off you.”
