PERDITION (Machinimay 2025 Entry)
Project Overview
15 minute short film -
This film will be entered into the GTA5 machinimay film competition hosted by Whanowa on YouTube sometime in May.
A grim and dark world, abandoned and left to rot, There is no hope for humanity, we have essentially gone extinct already. But Through this, life has evolved sometimes in a hauntingly beautiful way. Humanity is extinct but in a way, we have evolved too. Branching off into different species.
In 2025 the sky turned blood red worldwide. Many were overwhelmed with madness over night and chaos overwhelmed humanity. Some evolved into decrepit abominations caused by the blood moonlight.
Survivors of the madness eventually covered up their entire bodies so that none of their skin was showing. This in turn allowed them to walk among those who went mad and the abominations. But DO NOT get too close to either. The disguise only works from a distance. And the survivors are still affected. Their bodies mutated. With the physical changes and mental effects. They are barely human anymore either. Just like the ones who went mad.
A group of entities called “The Watchers” are seen by many but have never been encountered up close.
And thus 53 years later Our Protagonist seemingly is one of the last remnants of humanity.

The Protagonist of the film, a man that has forgotten his own name and underneath his outfit lies something not human anymore, barely clinging onto his sanity but he has one goal in mind. Reach a location of personal importance before he succumbs to the harsh world that he inhabits.
At 81 years old, he feels that his time coming short.
STYLE: Slow, deliberate and tiresome, unhinged towards the end of the film.

(emotional)No.. you're here for a good laugh, go ahead! Laugh at this poor old man as he kneels before the ruins of his KIN!
Name: Bodhi | A man with a towering stature at over 7 feet tall and the strength to back it up, one of the only vestiges of humanity left in this world baring a gasmask and an outfit covering up his entire body just like our Protagonist.
STYLE: Slow and welcoming, a gentle giant of sorts.

That won't help you friend.... Because I'm like you.
Why? You trying to die? There's a lot of ways to do that without having to face- well, them.
I've always wondered what would happen if I got close to one but something about them- I just, ugh. Every fibre of my being tells me not to.
A transcendental entity in the form of a goat. Follows our protagonist at his dismay throughout the film.
Directly related to a horned humanoid species with armored skin, wings and orange glowing eyes.
He speaks with purpose and is really simply beyond our protagonists power to do anything about it.
His motive is to "encourage" our protagonist to take off the mask and embrace what he "truly is".

Looking for realistic nuanced voice acting-
Look at Darin De Paul, the voice actor for Emperor Valkorion from Star Wars: The Old Republic for Inspiration and/or John Avner, the man that voiced Void in the 1997 Berserk Series.

Perspective is everything. In the face of something completely unfathomable. The immediate reaction should be fear with a hint of curiosity. But even so- that is not true for everyone.
Now you see it.
Your life is like a walking shadow. You strut and fret for an hour on a stage. And then heard no more. It's a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.
