Once Upon a Wasteland is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi romance set in the world of Bethesda Studios' "Fallout 76." Although it's set specifically in the Fallout milieu, it's intended to be accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they're familiar with the franchise or not. It centers on the love story of Beth Kirby and Odessa Valdez and their battle to save the growing civilization in Appalachia.
The show has earned a quarter of a million downloads in its first two seasons and has been both recognized and directly promoted by Bethesda. It won two Signal Awards for Best Writing and has been selected for several film and web festivals worldwide, as well as nominated for awards by New Jersey Web Fest, LA Web Fest, Apulia Web Fest and NZ Web Fest.

Louisa Corbin is the matriarch of the most politically connected and powerful family in Gralsburg. She is smart and canny, but warmhearted and kind. Following the death of her husband five years ago, she became the de facto protector of the people of Gralsburg and takes that responsibility very seriously. Her family has a long-standing rivalry with the Blackhalls. While they maintain a cool but cordial relationship, she is deeply distrustful of their motives.
Commanding yet compassionate, Louisa is a born leader. Her presence alone can bring a room to silence. While she understands the importance of power and political maneuvering, she never lets it overshadow her primary goal - the well-being of Gralsburg's people. Her word is her bond, and she's known for her unwavering principles.
She controls one of three powerful artifacts - the Sash of Ceridwen.

[sighs] I know it's not fair. To you or to Sylvia, but especially to you. I grew up having to deal with the weight of being a Pandolfi, and that was bad enough. You're a Corbin *and* a Pandolfi. [chuckles] Should've asked Elias if there was a prophecy about *that*.
Adrian Corbin is the son of Tristan and Louisa Corbin and the scion of the most powerful and politically connected family in Gralsburg. His late father casts a long shadow, but while he struggles at times under the weight of that legacy his mother's presence takes some of that pressure off and allows him to explore who he really is.
Balancing a keen intellect with a compassionate heart, Adrian is both a thinker and a doer. While he respects tradition, he's not afraid to challenge old ways of thinking if it means a better future for Gralsburg. Like his mother, he possesses a strong moral compass, but he also carries a youthful idealism that sometimes puts him at odds with the more traditional factions.
He controls half of a powerful artifact known as the Bracers of Arawn. A matched set, the Corbin family has had one of the bracers in their possession for centuries, along with the Sash of Ceridwen. The other bracer is lost.
Where have you been, Syl? I was worried. I thought you got kidnapped or something!
Have you talked to her yet? The woman they found. [Sylvia: No. Not yet.] She's... I don't know. I can't get a read on her at all. But I'm worried about her. And beyond that, I'm worried about *us*. We don't get "mysterious strangers" around here. The augurers keep telling me that nothing's wrong, that nothing's changed, but I don't buy it. I don't know if they're keeping something from us or if they really don't feel anything, but something's not right.
What was it dad used to say? "Tradition is our anchor, but progress is the sail. We need both to navigate the future." Gralsburg needs to evolve. We can do that and still respect our history.
Sylvia is the daughter of Louisa Corbin and the younger sister of Adrian Corbin. Unlike her mother and brother, she's not burdened by the same level of expectations and this allows her to operate more within the realm of society than that of politics. But make no mistake - she is every bit as smart as her brother and her political instincts mirror those of her mother.
She is exceptionally polite, kind, and diplomatic but exudes a confidence and power that belies her young age. Still, her lack of experience can sometimes lead to her decisions not being the best, and she can be very stubborn. She is normally quite guarded, but - much like her brother - her emotions can occasionally get the better of her and break through.
Inquisitive and adventurous, Sylvia is the free spirit of the Corbin family. She has a natural charm and can easily befriend people from all walks of life. While she respects her family's legacy, she's also driven by a desire to carve out her own identity and role. She's fiercely loyal to those she cares about and is not afraid to challenge conventions.
Eric Blackhall, the son of her mother's greatest rival, is interested in pursuing her romantically.
You always see things in black and white. Good and evil. Corbin and Blackhall. But there's a lot of gray out there, Ade, and sometimes *that's* where the answers are.
Change isn't just inevitable, it's necessary. Dad recognized that, and the sooner you can see it the better off we're all going to be.

Elias Blackhall is the head of the Blackhall family, which has historically been a rival to the Corbins. His ancestors were reputed to dabble in dark arts, seeking knowledge and power often deemed forbidden. Growing up on tales of these legacies, Elias was groomed to embrace his family’s more sinister pursuits.
Elias is well-versed in the lore of the elder gods, having spent decades studying ancient texts and conducting rituals. He's adept at manipulation, both of people and of energies. He possesses a vast knowledge of the artifacts, their origins, and how they can be used to serve his purpose. With a network of loyal followers, Elias can tap into resources and execute plans with a precision that makes him a formidable adversary.

I've read through every text I have, but this... this "newcomer" is not something that was foretold.. Nothing. But there's something about her, something... different. I can't put my finger on it, but perhaps there being nothing about her arrival in the texts is a clue itself.

The son of Elias Blackhall, Eric grew up in the shadow of the family's dark legacy. While he was exposed to the occult practices and the tales of the elder gods from a young age, he always felt an inner resistance, a pull towards the modern world and its tangible realities.
Eric is introspective and often conflicted. While he respects his father and the weight of the Blackhall name, he is not entirely convinced about the path set before him. He's curious, often seeking knowledge outside of the family's teachings. Eric is more approachable and less intense than his father, and has a soft spot for the ordinary people of Gralsburg.

Born and raised in Gralsburg, John Stone has seen the city through its highs and lows. Climbing the ranks from a young deputy to the revered Sheriff, his dedication to Gralsburg's safety and order has never wavered. Over the years, he's faced countless challenges, from petty crimes to the greater conspiracies surrounding the city's artifacts.
John is a man of few words but great integrity. He's pragmatic, often choosing the path of logic and evidence over impulse. While stern and no-nonsense in his professional role, those close to him know a softer side, marked by a dry sense of humor and a deep sense of loyalty.
This is going to get out, Louisa. I'm surprised Elias isn't banging on your door already. We need to get in front of it so we can protect her... and protect *you*.

She's analytical, helping Dmitri stay a step ahead with her planning and execution. Under the guise of a simple assistant, she listens, learns, and leverages information to her advantage. While she's meticulous and careful, she also has a fierce determination and ambition that few see coming.
