Requirements
I am a 23 year old independent/nerdcore artist who is getting back into the social aspect of making music after almost three years. I am looking for three male vocalists and two other female vocalists aside from myself.
What is the goal?
For us six to collaborate, work together, promote one another, and hype one another up. This also includes giving each other constructive criticism and feedback.
Do I have to be a Nerdcore Artist?
No you do not, while I would love to work with other Nerdcore Artists because it may be easier to be enthusiastic about each other's projects if you are willing to be invested and collaborate with us the same applies to you. None of us would ever hijack your music or try to make you make something you don't want to.
Do I have to have a YouTube channel?
Yes, it does not have to be old or popular, but you need a YouTube channel for your own personal projects. Not everything is going to go on my channel as I don't have the capacity to post everything and it may get confusing as my channel is a single artist channel. While I assume a majority of people auditioning likely already have their own channels I am stating it for clarity.
What about the rest of the Music Production process?
I am currently in school for music production, and have been doing a majority of the work on my own for a while. I am always working on improvements to my methods but overall will be able to assist. This means that:
If you like what I am capable of producing, I can produce beats/instrumentals for you
I am always capable of mixing and mastering
I am always capable of doing thumbnail and cover art
Anything outside of my scope of skill, we would have to individually budget for based on our own project's needs.
How are splits handled?
I use Distrokid personally, and in the past have always ensured everyone got equal splits. This means every single person that worked on the song gets splits, with the only exception being if we leased an instrumental online.
Would we always be collaborating?
Not at all. While collaboration is important, one of the other reasons I want to get a group together is for us to lift one another up and support each other regardless of if we're on the project.
How much of a time investment is this?
However much social battery you can give. In the event of an emergency or inability to complete collaboration either someone can step up to attempt to finish it or we can find someone to do so.
What happens after I'm accepted?
We will create a Discord server or group chat for just the six of us. This group is intended to last as long as we intend it to. If someone disappears for longer than a 3 month period with no notice or contact, we may have to look for another vocalist.
To clarify: You will not be punished for not being 100% available at all times, however, randomly ghosting the group is not the same thing.
Can I pitch my own project ideas?
Absolutely, whether someone else wants to put it on their channel or you would put it on yours is a different question and would be decided amongst the participants within the group.
Can I join if I have a small audience or no audience?
For clarifications sake, yes, you absolutely can, so long as you have decent recording quality.
What if I already have other collaborators?
You are not and never will be prohibited from working with other people outside of the group, especially considering some projects may require more than the six of us from a vocalist angle to begin with.
Ultimately, this all comes back to one thing. We must be reliable, communicative, open to constructive criticism, and genuinely interested in supporting the other members of the group.
A further list of questions and answers will be added later!
