Mini-Series Pilot - Radio Character Voice
Project Overview
Hi! We’re currently in the post-production stages of a live-action miniseries pilot, looking to cast a male voice actor for the role of the Radio. (That’s a photo of him from the episode in the project photo!)
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Last Broadcast is a narrative short project that has already been filmed. The pilot is a surreal mystery/drama with an absurdist tone, playing around with moments of tension and deadpan comedy. Three humans find themselves trapped in a dreamscape, where they encounter a cast of unusual characters, including a supposed guide who is remarkably terrible at his job.
The radio appears through a few short sections of the film, with several lines that allow for some personality, playfulness, and mystery.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Male voice, with a natural and engaging delivery
Strong sense of character, creative choices, and comedic timing
Microphone with good recording quality and minimal background noise is preferred.
Collaborative and receptive. Comfortable taking direction and experimenting with different approaches. The project is made up of a very talented, hard-working and fun cast, and we’re hoping to welcome another great actor to our team with this character! :)
Good communication and reliability throughout the recording process

Voice Actor
There’s a lot of directions you can take for this character! The base requirement is that he needs to sound like he could be a radio presenter. Feel free to experiment with different tones and accents. Here’s some context below for each voice line:
Voice Line 1:
This is the introduction to the episode. It begins with the radio speaking to the audience, speaking very generally and pseudo-intellectually about “human nature”. This is where you can have the most fun with his voice! We encourage you to record this one at least twice with some variation.
Voice Line 2:
As the radio speaks, a character in the background walks towards the radio and reaches for it. The radio realizes this, becomes nervous, and panics, before the character smashes the radio.
(Note: Feel free to slightly change what the radio says during his “panic” lines to make the delivery feel more natural.)
Voice Line 3:
Very simple line delivery. It’s important to be able to tone down the character to for a casual, instructional tone.
(Note: As the radio reads out instructions during a main scene, the actor should be comfortable toning down the delivery when needed and delivering these lines with clarity and precision.)
