"Alex doesn’t ever plan on coming out to her best friend as trans. That is, until that friend reaches out to test the latest gaming technology."
Memory Leak is a 6 min thesis film. It leans into some light surrealist horror elements, and contains period accurate transphobia for the mid 2010s. It's based partly on my own experiences as a queer person and examines the way new technology can complicate interpersonal relationships.
Some inspirations include Mulholland Drive (2001), Steven Universe (Specifically s1 ep19 "Rose's Room"), and Paprika (2006).
I'm using 2D animations over 3D backgrounds with a lot of stylization (but I don't need help with that part, I love compositing <3). It also features an original soundtrack (that I may need help with at some point but not yet). I have a full animatic with scratch audio that still needs polishing but the script is very mature at this point.
I'm looking for voice actors. Queer people and/or POC are highly encouraged to apply.
I want this to be a cool opportunity for under-represented VA's that are just starting out.The deadline is the end of July, with recording starting in August.
I've listed this as an unpaid role mainly because I'm a student and my ideal budget is $0, but I would like to pay what I can once recording is finished. I just can't promise a specific amount, so think of it like a tip for being awesome and not a money making opportunity.
Please reach out if you'd like any more details. Like I said, this isn't really paid so only apply if you think its a cool idea that you want to be a part of. I'm happy to show you the script/animatic and my pre-production materials before you apply, I just can't post all that publicly here.
