Project Overview
Life As An OC [LAAOC] is a Gacha Club mini-movie I have been planning and scripting for the past month. Its purpose is mainly for me to practise my animating and audio engineering skills in preparation for my bigger project, currently titled "Yellow Rose".
Life As An OC follows the story of three best friends - Tristan, River and Aden - who aspire to become GachaTubers. Their OCs also tag along for the ride to fame!
Callista is an old OC of Tristan's, who was recently replaced by Caleb, her genderbend. She goes through mixed emotions at the notion of this. Fortunately, her new friends Logan and Mira are there to help her. Caleb doesn't really understand why Callista gets so upset.
If you could possibly pass the link to this project to maybe one or two other people who could be interested in this, I would really appreciate it!
Disclaimer: I am not a professional animator/artist/writer, these are just things I do for fun.
When auditioning for characters, please say each line three times differently (if you can) to give me a better idea of your voice acting. With non-voice acting roles, I may ask you to send me some other pieces of work to help me decide. If I don't ask for this, don't worry, it doesn't mean you haven't been chosen.
Q/A (Please read these before asking me things or auditioning, they are important):
Q: Can I audition for multiple roles?
A: Of course! Audition for as many roles as you would like, but if you're going for multiple voice roles, please make the voices distinguishable from each other.
Q: Will this be public?
A: Yes, it will be public on my YouTube channel, Pink Squid Studios.
Q: Do I need a professional microphone?
A: No, but high-quality audio with no background noise is necessary. You can try recording with a blanket over your head to reduce background noise.
Q: Have you done anything like this before?
A: I've done many small animations before. My animations are up on my YouTube channel.
Q: Will I need to be directed for voice acting?
A: No, you can record on your own if you'd prefer to. But if you would like to be directed or if I feel you could use some, I am happy to direct you.
Q: Can I improvise?
A: Go ahead, this is about you portraying the character in the way you feel is right!
Q: If I am cast, how do I receive the script?
A: The script is on a Google Doc, I would send you the link/file over Discord, but if you can't use Discord for whatever reason, we can work something else out. It is currently still being written, with major plot points all planned out.
Q: How can I contact you?
A: Through social media such as Instagram (pinksquid.studios), Discord (Pink Squid#7929), YouTube (Pink Squid Studios), or you can send me a DM on CCC.
Q: Do I need Discord?
A: Discord is preferred, but if you have a problem with using it, we can work something else out. If you are cast, I will send you a link to a production server where I can keep track of things easier, and meet the team you're working with!
Q: Is this child friendly?
A: Absolutely. There is no swearing or any mature content, it's suitable for all ages!
Q: How will I be credited?
A: I will ask you how you would like to be credited, and you can give me any links you would like to be credited by (for example, CCC, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc)
Q: How long will the animation be?
A: I'm looking at maybe 10 minutes long.
Q: What is your timezone?
A: Currently, it's UTC +01:00 (use an online converter to find out the time difference, if any.)
Q: Is this paid work?
A: Unfortunately, I am currently unable to hand out payments, so this would be volunteer work.
Q: What software will you use for editing?
A: I currently use the pro version of Kinemaster on my phone, but I may change programs when it comes to making the final animation. The mini-movie might be animated and produced on a Hudl 2 tablet.
Q: Has it already been animated?
A: No, I will animate it after all the voice and sound work is done.
Q: Will all roles be cast at the same time?
A: I may have to go through different rounds of casting if I can't decide. If this is the case, please feel free to audition again. Whether you use the same audio is up to you, but I recommend you do it again to give me a better idea of your voice acting talents.

Tristan is an aspiring GachaTuber. He is the creator of Cally and Caleb. He didn’t have many friends for most of his middle school days, so he created Cally to draw and write about. He began to forget about her when he made some friends at high school. His best friends are River and Aden. His voice should be mid-tone.

Callista, or Cally, is the first OC of Tristan. She was made when he was 7-8 years old. She is quite bubbly and optimistic most of the time. She doesn’t like Caleb very much initially but she grows quite fond of him over time. Her voice should be mid-tone to high.
Don’t get me wrong, being in his imagination is so much fun, he’s so creative!

Caleb is the redesigned and genderbent version of Cally. He is the main OC for Tristan’s Gacha-central YouTube channel. He tries to be friendly with Cally but doesn’t realise she doesn’t really like him. He’s generally quite clueless about things and Cally spends a lot of time explaining things to him. His voice should be mid-tone to low.
