Legend of Basara Manga Fan Dub (English)
Project Overview
Several roles have already been auditioned for and claimed, but there are plenty of characters that still need voices. Please use a good quality microphone when auditioning, and send in your voice lines here! More roles will be added as time goes on.
This is a passion project to allow more people to find out about Basara and enjoy the series since it’s never had a complete anime adaptation (and the one it did have is very old). This is a free project done as a hobby, and led by a dedicated fan of the series and its creator.
Basara Summary:
The story takes place in a future Japan, reduced to a barren desert by a catastrophe at the end of the 21st century. The main character is Sarasa, a girl whose twin brother, Tatara, is prophesied to be the "child of destiny" who will bring back the country's independence and stop the tyrannical rule of the Empire, namely the Red King. When Tatara is killed, Sarasa pretends to be him in order to keep the downtrodden from losing hope.
REQUIREMENTS:
Most roles are required for 18+ just because of the type of situations they will need to voice. However, Basara is a T+ rated series, so it's NOT an M-rated series.
Please use a good microphone and be able to record/send your voice clips to the director yourself.
Must be able to have at least 1-2 hours of free time a week to be able to record voice lines with the director, who will be giving you guidance and feedback through Discord’s voice chat. It's very likely you won't have to record every week, but just in case.
NOTE THAT THIS MANGA INVOLVES SOME DARK/SERIOUS THEMES, YOU MUST BE OKAY WITH THIS.

NOTE: Asagi won't appear until around volume 4 or 5The captain of the Blue King's special guards, "Gunjou", which is made up of handsome boys. Asagi is actually a secret child of the Emperor, and is the true Blue King. Asagi infiltrates Tatara's army on the orders of the White King, plotting to play Tatara and the Red King against each other.Asagi has a contrary and self-centered personality, and he hates physical labor. Though he is very skilled with a sword he is physically weak. He eventually grows fond of Tatara's Army, despite his best efforts. He forms a crush on Sasara, and in the end shows his loyalty to her.

In this area...among the rivers and lakes...the king had secret floodgates built. He'd open them once in a while...to create the floods. He made people believe there was a dragon--paralyzing them with fear. So that he could control them.
I'm not going to say this civilization was better. But...for the people to live in darkness...kept ignorant by others...THAT is hell.
Voice Actor
Speaks with a bit of an accent.The son and heir of the head priest of the Kumano Shinto shrine. Nachi runs across Sarasa while hunting the largest whale in the seas in his region. Nachi is a merchant with a bold, optimistic personality, and he speaks with a strong regional accent. He is knowledgeable about survival skills.

Voice Actor
The leader of the Tengu youth organization in Kumano; like Nachi, he is the son of a local Kumano leader. Hijiri's personality is opposite to Nachi's - he is calm and quick-thinking, and a master of Iaidō. He is strict with Sarasa, but well-meaning. Hijiri has been the closest of friends with Nachi since they both were young, and is often worried by Nachi's recklessness.

Nachi! What the hell have you been up to?! The cops are after you! They say you lead TATARA into the mountains...
The police call us the "local gang" or sometimes "degenerate killer monks." What we call ourselves is the Tengu Faction. There's about 30 of us, all told. I'm Hijiri, the leader.
We're a tradition-bound folk here. The old-timers...they cling to a lot of archaic superstitions....Especially around King Ukon. Those of us who are younger, we've got no use for 'em.
