Left 4 Dead: The Sacrifice Part One Comic Dub

Project Overview

Edited-------

Please note, I have extended the deadline by one month. There have been many excellent auditions already, and I am incredibly happy with the effort I've seen, however, there are a few roles I would like to leave open for just a little longer.

What is this?
Left 4 Dead is a popular FPS in the zombie genre, one that is still beloved and played over a decade after its initial release. On October 5th, 2010, a DLC campaign known as 'The Sacrifice' was released. A comic was released to coincide with the new game campaign. The Sacrifice tells the conclusion to the story of the original survivors from Left 4 Dead. This project looks to dub this comic.

Series overview
Left 4 Dead is a massively popular and successful FPS zombie game originally developed by Turtle Rock Studios until the project was taken over by Valve. The game was originally released in 2008 and has been going strong with a large player base for near 12 years now. Like most Valve owned games, the Left 4 Dead franchise is considered a genre definer. In the franchise, the entire world has been taken over by infected individuals. The virus, known as 'The Green Flu' is a mutated strain of rabies that's infection method changes daily. This has helped the virus spread incredibly fast, reducing the world to complete chaos in under two weeks. Much as the virus mutates, it can mutate infected individuals, resulting in horrible monsters that vaguely resemble the people they once were.

  • Fantastic Work

I am more than impressed with the effort on display here. I've enjoyed listening to everyone's auditions and I can with confidence say the casting was not easy. So many outstanding performances. There are only a few days left, but I've got everyone more or less decided at this point. Once the deadline hits, I will be in contact with each successful applicant. If you didn't make it, please know I still enjoyed your audition, and the decision was very difficult to make. Thanks again, till next update!

Role assigned to: Marzem

CHARACTER PROFILE

Bill is a grizzled war veteran with plenty of skill and confidence. Before the outbreak, he was an aimless drifter lost without a war to fight. With the zombie apocalypse, he finally has a purpose again. He always looks out for his team, even if he sounds fed up with the most of the time. As a constant smoker, he's voice is rather gravely to fit his personality. Bill is at the very least, 60 years old, though his exact age is unknown. Bill has a different feeling towards each member of his makeshift family but he will do anything to help them see another day.

He is voiced in the original game by the late Jim French. I am looking for a close approximation of the canon voice. Voice lines can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0_V0rt4fUE

  • (Tired, yet firm. He is telling off the tanks that are about to pound him to a pulp. He is about to die, he knows this, but he will die on his own terms.)

    (Lighting his cigarette)

    BILL: Hold yer horses...
BILL:...I’ll be with ya in a minute.

  • Bill confronted with a tank, a hulking monster. He is irritated, determined, unstoppable.

BILL: I swear to God, I musta killed about fifty of you sons of bitches by now...

BILL: You'd think ONE of you'd have the common goddamn courtesy to go down easy

  • (Bill is joking suggesting on leaving on of his crew behind.)

BILL: I don’t suppose there’s any way we could leave without-
ZOEY: No, Francis knows it’s here.
    BILL: Ahhhh, alright.

Francis

Role assigned to: ClassyJavelin

Character Profile

Francis is a tough guy with an equally gruff voice. He tends to proclaim his hatred for things on a very frequent basis. He is constantly bickering with Louis, as their personalities clash heavily. Francis has a lot of energy and humour to his deliveries. Francis is cocky and confident and although he complains a lot, he is still a very endearing man. He certainly has a goofy side, with one of his death screams sounding more akin to Goofy from a Disney cartoon than the dying yell of a biker.

Francis is an amoral biker who could be between his late 20's to mid 30's. He's exact age is unknown.

Francis is originally voiced by Vince Valenzuela. I am looking for an approximation of this voice. Voice lines can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8VgfesBwZ0

  • The team is overwhelmed by zombies. Francis attempted to throw a pipe bomb to distract them, but in his overconfidence ends up throwing it against a wall, causing it to bounce around inside the room they're in.

    FRANCIS: Ha HAHH!
FRANCIS: Time ta play fetch, Ya Friggen’ dumbasses!
    FRANCIS: Throwin’ a pipe!

  • ZOEY: Where’s Bill?
FRANCIS: White-haired old mummy? Smokes a lot, hates stairs?
    ZOEY: Francis, where is he?
    FRANCIS: By the stairs.
    ZOEY: Is he okay?
FRANCIS: I look like a staircase to you? How the hell am I supposed to know?

  • Louis is fighting off zombies while Francis has focused his attention into bashing a single zombie in the head.
LOUIS: Francis, when you gonna stop punching that thing in the head man?
FRANCIS: Dunno. Soon as it gets boring.
    WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
    FRANCIS: Nope.
    BEAT
    FRANCIS: Still fun.

Louis

Role assigned to: OKong28

Character Profile

Louis is an ever positive man just trying to survive long enough to see life return to some form of normality. He has a slightly higher pitched voice with a subtle softness to it, which is in direct contrast to Francis'. Before the outbreak, Louis was an IT specialist who constantly assured clients he would get their life back to normal. Now that zombies have taken over, he seems to have retained the same mindset, although now he is mowing down hordes of the infected instead of fixing computers.

During his lunch breaks, Louis would often go to the shooting range. His co-workers would often tease him for this.

Louis and Francis are almost constantly bickering due to their opposite outlooks, which puts a strain on the others in their company. Despite this, they will always look out for one another and do share the common goal of trying to survive.

Louis is a young adult who's exact age is unknown.

Louis was originally voiced by Earl Alexander. An approximation of this voice is needed. Voice lines can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9mK_QsUzoI&t=137s

  • Francis has been snared by a Smoker. He is being pulled away while Louis desperately holds on him.

    FRANCIS: DON'T LET GO, DAMMIT!

LOUIS: I ain't lettin' go man!

FRANCIS: I take back all that nasty crap I said about ya!

LOUIS: Hold on. You been saying nasty crap about me?

  • Louis is in a bathroom stall, unknown to him an infected individual is just outside. He starts out irritated but quickly becomes concerned as the man doesn't respond.

LOUIS: I will be done in a minute. JUST WAIT ...

LOUIS: ...your...  uh... you okay, man?

  • Louis and Francis have just been told that they are carriers of the disease. Louis slowly realises they were the reason so many people they've crossed paths with eventually turned.

LOUIS: So we've been infecting people this whole time?

    LOUIS: Jesus. Those pilots...

LOUIS: We've been causing the crashes...

Zoey

cast offsite

Character Profile:

Zoey is a young woman full of energy and determination, which is unfortunate as she was failing college before the outbreak. As an avid film buff, she spent her days watching old horror films. Always skilled with a gun, her 'research' paid off as she has survived countless zombies and hardships. Despite the tragedy that struck her on the day of the outbreak, she is still fun to be around and sees herself as the one having to do most of the work while her new family are bickering at one another.

Zoey is a young adult undertaking college. her exact age is unknown.

Zoey was originally voiced by Jen Taylor. A  close approximation of this voice is needed. Voice lines can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr6-wDuv1o0

  • After having fought off a seemingly endless amount of zombies, Zoey sees the rescue vehicle has finally arrived.

(To herself) ZOEY: Well, it’s about fucking time...
    (Shouting to her teammates)

    ZOEY: GUYS! RESCUE’S HERE!

    (She runs to her team)
ZOEY: Army’s HERE guys! Let’s get movin!

  • After being picked up by CEDA agents, Zoey is trying to find out where they are being taken. Her patience is wearing thin, thanks to Francis' poor negotiation skills.
ZOEY: Right. Can you at least tell us where you’re taking us?
    SOLDIER: Testing.
ZOEY: Oh-kay. And if we pass the test?

Zoey sees countless corpses being bulldozed into a fire pit.

ZOEY: Actually, you know what? Nevermind.
ZOEY: I think I get the idea.

  • A CEDA doctor has just broken the news to Bill and Zoey, they are both carriers of the infection. She gets more hopeless with the realisation of how hopeless their situation actually is.

    ZOEY: But.. You're a doctor.

ZOEY: Have you been... is there a..

    THE DOCTOR: Cure? We're trying.

Ray is one of Louis' coworkers. Louis tries to convince him to come in despite the nationwide fear of the infection, but Ray refuses. Their conversation happens over the phone. Ray is clearly Louis' friend signified by the way he calls him 'Lou'. He is a young adult. Any accent is acceptable, although northern American is most likely his accent.

  • Louis is trying to convince Ray to come to work. It isn't working.

LOUIS: So please. Do not tell me you are calling in sick.

RAY: Yeah, no, Lou. I'm calling in well. And I'm planning to stay that way.

  • RAY: Whatever. I don't know if you looked out the window, but it's like the end of the goddamn world out there.

LT MORA: Rock, this is rescue 9. We've recovered four tango mikes. Please advise.

  • LT MORA: Haven, we have four tango mikes for the Doc. This is Captain Mora. Is the Major there?
